    I remember asking in school why noses on statues were always broken. One teacher had no idea what I was asking, but another teacher… my art teacher, said it was probably because of how the clay was scored or the stone was chiselled. She said to her knowledge it was a weak point on the sculpture.
    I had no idea there was a WHOLE STUDY on nose disfigurement, and let alone a predominant form of ancient punishment!
    I’m 33, and never knew any of this! That first teacher made me feel weird for noticing something odd like that.

      It would also make sense to say that it's the weak point of the sculpture because when sculpting a face, it sticks out the most. But I bet there were a lot of statues that were purposely vandalized as humiliation.

      @620john620 Před 3 lety +11

    2:10 . Code of hammurabi is Babylonian not ancient Egyptian. Get ur facts correct. When I see one fact tat I know is wrong I don't have the patience to watch whole video. As an ENT surgeon I can say rhinoplasty was first done by Sage Sushrutha in india

    He forgot to say that they would take something like sand paper or a metal scrub pad and get the spot where the nose was missing raw and we'll make it a open wound so the flap of skin and nose would heal together into a new nose

    🇮🇳 India has had a lot of pioneers and modern thinkers throughout it's history. People who saw the right path going forward into the future. People who had the courage to highlight the wrongs in society and fight for a better and more inclusive future for their fellow humans. Great people who knew that it was important to work hard for harmony between different cultures as well as to accept modern social and scientific ideas. 🇮🇳👍🏼

      Absolutely, I've read about some of the important inventions and ideas from India-im from Scotland and for such a small country and population we've invented and pioneered a surprising amount of things so I've a little bit ofll interest in reading about other countries inventions. I'll admit this nose job one was something I didn't know though. I did know that Indian cosmologists calculated the earth's orbit around the sun so accurately that it was the most accurate around the world for about 1000yrs and just 1.4sec longer than our modern calculations which is amazing

    I wouldn't do surgery for cosmetic reason. If I did it would be to have my legs lengthened 2 to 4 inches so I would be better proportioned. I am satisfied though my legs reach the ground
