Why did they stop treating movie trailers like works of art? The last twenty or so years trailers have been utter SHYTE. This is what a trailer is supposed to be. It's beautiful. It presents the movie honestly and also piques your interest.
Probably by the 1980s, when Hollywood just went for the quick buck with blockbusters set for the lowest common denominator of dumb consumerism. As Travis was note, they became venal and sick in that regard. Peace.
They, or even better - WE stopped treating everything like works of art as soon as we embarked on this "highly productive super popular very appealing high-tech no life, depth or meaning but it's fun or at least it was for some time" journey called 21st century.
To be fair this trailer spoils quite a bit

Brilliant trailer, even though it is very retro. The film’s use of colour is stunning (and this trailer), some of the best colour use in film in fact. It looks even more visually tasteful in HD thanks for uploading this!

I don't think Travis' narrative at 0:53 - 1:06 was actually in the movie. After watching this masterpiece countless times, it's incredible to hear this part for the first time.

I wish they'd make a prequel dealing with Travis' origins, his Vietnam days and his problems being a loner. Maybe also a sequel set immediately afte the first film, obviously with a different actor.

No homo, Robert de Niro was a fucking gorgeous man in his youth.
This is my favorite movie of all time. An accurate and distubing study of isolationism, physchological trauma. That somehow i identify with on a deep level, and i think a lot of people would agree with me. A beautiful work of art, the neon streetlights reflecting from the pools of water. The streets filled with people altrhough travis is never in a group. The score is phenomenal the drums rattling signifying the hate and rage that's boiling inside of him. Followed by a smooth jazz tune signifying fantasies and false hopes created.
This is one of the greatest movie of all time, def in Top 20.

The best movie by James Caan besides the Godfather id say is Freebie & Bean (1974) i don't know if you seen it haha it's funny but awesome him & this mexican married man both play as 2 detectives. Love the 70s movies w thrilling action in em like Dirty harry (Magnum-Force) & 80s too like, "To live & die in LA" but that's why i stick w more 70s-80s movies less vulgarity unlike today's movies.. So I'm plannin on watchin the taxi driver now loved de niro's acting in Godfather ii my fav godfather movie is pt 2 where it shows more of Michael & Vito's younger life & vengeance upon Don Ciccio. I'll let you know how the movie is.

Rocky was a great film but I would've given the Oscar to Taxi Driver. The ending sealed it. Highly unexpected and so ironic. A vigilante, a ticking time bomb is turned into a hero. Taxi Driver is a great, great film.
