The Kanheri Caves are located inside the premises of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. Therefore, entry to the caves is through the park. The railway station nearest to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park is the Borivali Railway Station, from where you can access the national park through public buses, autos or cabs.
About Sanjay Gandhi National Park
Easy trek for people who love to walk. This park gives a unique combination of flora, fauna and ancient history, with Kanheri caves situated right in the heart of the National Park.
The best time to visit this national park is during the monsoon season. To make the most of your visit to this place, you must reach the park at 8 in the morning and experience the best of nature. Timings: 9 am to 6pm. Closed on Monday.
The Kanheri Caves are a group of caves and rock-cut monuments cut into a massive basalt outcrop in the forests of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park.Timings 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM (Closed on Mondays
The timings of the train ride are between 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with lunch break between 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Each ride lasts for 20- 25 minutes. The charges are- INR 50 per journey for adults (12 yrs and above) and INR 19 per journey for children aged between 5 to 12.
