  • Since it's been about three months and some change since I've come out publicly, I thought I'd share a video about how it's going.
    Of course, coming out is such a personal choice, and my situation is going to be different from yours. But so far, there are more pros than cons!
    Let me know in the comments if you have your own coming out story. Let's support and lift each other up! xoxo

    Also, yes: when I was closeted, I felt like I was constantly obsessing about my sexuality. Once I was out, any thoughts about my sexuality faded comfortably to the background. Now I just get to be me!

    I'm just like you! I'm turning 30 in June, but only "came out" out to myself a few years ago, my husband a year and a half ago, and "publicly" almost a year ago! Being bi and in a committed, straight-passing relationship is its own unique experience (one often misunderstood and underrepresented) and so voices like yours are so important! Thanks for reppin' the specific millennial/LGBT+ niche we fall into! Good to see another friendly face! ☺

      I'm 31 and didn't "come out" until I was 30. Everyone I told was like "Yeah... I know." I just never labeled it before.

    Thank you so so much for the videos, I came out as Transgender MtF about 2 months ago and this month is 6 months on HRT pills. I feel free, 100% me and I feel so amazing....22 years of suffering and forcing myself to conform and be as others wanted me to is 100% over. Like you I am Bisexual as well but for right now I'm only dating women and I think I may have found my soul mate....but I will have to see and take it slow. I just wanted to thank you for the wonderful videos, they reminded me to be me and to stop the self hate!

    I finally came out publicly on Easter. I have known I was bisexual since I was 17 years old and my husband knew before we got married. It's been kind of a crazy journey getting to this point. Thank you for putting into words why it feels so weird when people haven't said something. I don't want to assume that they're thinking poorly of me, but it's kind of hard not to when I have gotten such loving and positive feedback from other people in my life.

      Thank you for sharing! Yes - it is so weird. And it’s also weird when they say too much so it’s a hard balance! Hopefully they’re just not sure how to address it? But most importantly you know who you are!! 💜💜

      I have a question, when u came out to ur husband did u guys talk immediately about opening up the relationship? Did he let you explore?

    • @dez6529
      @dez6529 Před 2 lety

      @@KarasmaticTV I actually got a pretty serious crush on a coworker about 4 years into being married and we talked at that point. He was totally supportive of me going for it. Unfortunately the coworker quit shortly after and I didn't get to ask him out. But after that we were even more open about crushes and attraction and eventually learned about polyamory. The rest has been a crazy amazing exploration and I'm glad I have him by my side through all of it.

      @@dez6529 that’s nice I’m very happy for you , my situation is very different then. I am bi curious but haven’t kissed a girl since like 11 years old. I came out to my boyfriend straight male partner of 4 years and he either wants an open relationship or none. He won’t even let me explore being with a girl once unless he gets to explore too with me. Which is not him exploring he’s only been with girls and wants to be with just girls. I didn’t offer or want an open relationship or at least not now I’m too insecure for that. I don’t know what to do or how to get him to respect my sexuality without thinking I’m gonna leave him for a woman if I realize I like women more. It hurts

    • @dez6529
      @dez6529 Před 2 lety +1

      @@KarasmaticTV oh gosh. That's hard. My biggest concern is that it seems like your partner is fetishizing bisexuality and no loner seeing you and any prospective future partners as people with feelings, he's seeing a three some. I can't tell you how to handle this, but reminding him that you're into monogamy seems like a good start. Hugs!

    I know you may have busy things going on in your life. I have just now literally yesterday just put full awareness on my sexuality (bisexual) and I am 28. Although I had straight up clear signs as a kid and a very strong tomboy phase(not a phase because it’s still a part of my identity and I feel comfortable that way) but I would push those things way beneath me to where I was thinking they were just happenstances especially when it came to certain crushes of females that I came across. However I do lean more towards men but I still have a thing for women emotionally though(as what I know so far; still discovering). I do love your other vids that’s about loving yourself more and I wish you are able to do more motivating vids for that BUT I understand life has its loops and one must attend to what is most important in their life first. So at least I have a therapist I can share this with though lol.

    That closing advice about not coming out publicly until you're ready is really important.
    I've been out in private (family and close friends) pretty much since I've known at age 20 but am only out publicly at age 36. While I wouldn't recommend waiting that long to anyone, it's important to let people know there's no shame in being closeted if you don't feel safe coming out and that it's also possible to come out to an increasing number of people you feel safe around to increase your comfort level when you feel you're not quite ready but getting there.
    Also, nice channel and a friendly comment section :) These videos really are helpful in coming to terms with myself.

    • @jennicahill
      @jennicahill  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you for saying so! I agree - it is really important that people don’t feel pressured to come out to anyone until they’re ready. I definitely told people as I felt comfortable, and that made all the difference in helping me accept myself as well. I appreciate you underscoring that based on your experience. And yes - I’m so grateful for the kindness and love in the comment sections. It makes me have more hope for humanity than I do just reading the news!
