  • What is it that makes Stradivarius violins so special and unique?
And what does Newton’s Cradle have to do with Baroque music?
Marcus du Sautoy, Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science and Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford, presents a fascinating programme delving into the relationship between the maths, science and music of the 17th century.
Directed by Marios Papadopoulos, this concert features works by Rameau and J. S. Bach, played by the Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra.
This concert was made possible by a grant from the Culture Recovery Fund via Arts Council England, and was filmed by Apple and Biscuit Recordings at the Sheldonian Theatre. #HereForCulture
As we continue to make our online concerts available for free, your support is more important to us than ever. Please consider making a donation to the Orchestra, to help us keep the music playing: bit.ly/3lN5opB

One of my dreams is to meet this man. I find his ideas fascinating! Have shared his BBC Maths series with hundreds of preservice teachers across my career as a mathematics education college professor.
