For me they ARE 100 percent "Highschool Sweethearts" and still together because I absolutely love this couple. Their characters match together so well.
I absolutely think the same way. The choice is between : Chloe and Max WERE (past tense!) just friends (Chloe is dead and they were just friends) AND Chloe and Max ARE "highschool sweethearts" (Chloe is alive and they are still together as a couple).
She wouldn't be looking at such an old picture unless this preview is in the save Arcadia Bay ending. I think she's straight up dead in this preview. There's probably an alternative route where she is alive. We know they were still together in lis2 and looked different.

He killed SuperSonic, he popped the ears of Blindspot, he almost killed Starlight in the elevator. i feel this game may be set in save arcadia timeline, ans then next game after be set in destroy arcadia timeline then max hopping round the timeline with the two maybe crossing paths, like the comics do a game along those lines

Two split timelines in which one Safi seemed 'destined' to die.... with one being what seems now Chloe being alive... Akin to a final destination movie concept (I.E., the second movie) where two of the characters appeared to break the 'cycle' to a degree.. (In Chloe's case, the "three" bullets) Chloe being alive.. 'effects' whether Safi is.. perhaps due to being two people who have 'great' significance in whatever shape or form within Max's life! Because what's also interesting.. JUST prior to Safi ending up being/not murdered .. MAX is already going through BOTH timelines... As if there were some kind of clash of a tug of war, Transpiring.. as evident of Max suffering from mind traumas! So suffice to say.. Which one is the TRUE timeline, which will be the BIGGEST of mysteries.... That's where Chloe being alive or dead ..(pending upon your personal choice) comes into effect, potentially.
theory here. What if Max saved Safi’s mom with her rewind powers? Chloe breaks up with her because of it, and Safi’s mom offers her the job to thank her for saving her?

It s very hard to make game, where character can be alive or dead due to previous choices, do it in a way that players wont hate it. U saw what Telltale did. What about Mass effect did anyone liked that solution? Dead character just replaced with other character with similar function but different name. I cant imagine D9 would make game where u can be with Chloe all the time, that will mean that ppls who saved Arcadia Bay will miss on huge portion of the game. And if u replace Chloe with some new bf/gf etc and that character will act just very similar what s the point. I think dontnod shot whole franchise into foot with that ending and unwillingness to elaborate on it in any way, so i guess we should just stay Polarized and be happy
i like mass effects approach, it gives us new characters and we don't miss out on things because a char is dead and the writers don't have to limit themselves nor limit the player's choices

No, it's not hard. Any questions about Chloe can either use "are" "is" "were" "was". If you saved Chloe the player will get present verbs but if players saved Arcadia then past verbs will be used. If Chloe is alive Max could talk to her over the phone and they can text eachother. If Chloe is dead then Max will only have that picture to remember her by. Chloe never has to show up.
