If you remove the airfilter element and look down into the space underneath you'll see a long metal pipe leading from somewhere in the rear to the exit into the carb intake.
This pipe is the power restrictor and was fitted to make the CZ 175-477 slower than the Jawa 250-562 and later CZ 250-471 as without it, it is a lot faster (80 to 85 MPH).
The pipe has the same effect on the engine as a human attempting to run wearing a gas mask. It strangles power by increasing intake loading at higher RPM and causing the engine to run rich at higher RPM. Removing it liberates another 3 to 4 HP. Even with the restrictor pipe fitter the official top speed of the CZ 175-477 was 71 MPH and 14.5 HP. Having a top speed of only 60 MPH suggests that the bike has the large baffle piece in backwards with the hole end to the front instead of the rear (correct way round). Having it in backwards chokes the exhaust and misaligns all the silencer sections so the gases have to squeeze around the edges of the baffle instead of through it. It is a common mistake for owners to make after servicing the silencer system.
I've left a comment on your "Too Much Smoke" treatise, Andy.

A good read. Pity the UMG isn't still with us.
Andy, does it need to be rejetted if that tube is removed, and if so, what size? Thanks, Steve
awesome!
Had the same one few years ago. This is import model with oil master pump and diferent lights. Remember that the gear change was quite heavy and the lever always ripped ny shoes :-) It was also quite thirsty.
3-3,5 l/100 km 😁👍

Mate pravdu. N.P Strakonice
@terence20001 Thanks for mail about spark plugs. Will try iridium NGK again.
@2wheelsteve, thanks. just left side of gas tank needs some paint touch job. I dont want to hurry that job yet....
@zip343, yes Michelin Gazelle replace original Barum tyres. (dry a cracked). Bike is in Las Vegas now. Rear shocks are from Suzuki (original shocks were leaking, can't find ruber seal piece) CZ turns peoples head all the time...
Hmmm, tak to je velká paráda....
@meyiyiyi55, Thank You
Hi, I see this has been up for a long time, but I'm working on the same model right now and it's helpful to see how some of the details go together - so thanks for posting it! 1 question, can the autolube on these be trusted or do most owners premix? And to what ratio? Thanks again!
Hi, don’t trust autolube since the O rings is old/dry. It won’t seal the oil and most likely the oil will leak into transmission. That happened on mine. Remove oil jet and replace it with M7 size bolt. Oil mixture 1:35. Premium gasoline.
@@marekh22 Thanks much for the reply, I'm glad to see you're still out there! Do you mean the o-rings inside the pump? Do you take the oil pump out?
@@stevew8010 you can leave the oil pump there, just remove bronze intake nozle from the engine and seal it with M7 bolt.
How much are these bikes worth?
There's an old dealer down the street on my house...but it's never opened when I pass by. The dude has a TON of jawa CZ motorcycles and plenty of parts! I don't know if he's selling them though...
in running condition around 1300USD
Hey me and my freind found one of these and we are wondering where to find the parts because we cant find any
eBay is my only advice. Just type CZ 175.
