The UK is not a country, my country is Scotland. The UK is a sovereign state made up of 3 countries and a province (northern ireland) We voted to leave the UK in 2014 but the english people living in scotland (they make up 10% of the population) pushed the overall vote to a no.
@@user-vc4oh4vg6h The Barnett formula is intentionally made to make it look as though Scotland is subsidised by England, it excludes the fact that over 50% of ALL UK food and drink exports come from Scotland as well as all of the UK's oil comes from Scotland. The only place that is not subsidised by London in the UK is in fact Scotland. We have as much oil as Norway and the SNP want to set up a sovereign wealth fund just as they have, we have 60% of ALL UK waters, 90% of ALL UK renewable potential and so, so, so much more. None of these even come close to the main issue of wanting my vote to matter though, our politics are entirely different from yours, our culture is particularly distinct within the union and we never get what we vote for in Westminster.
I am well aware that there will be a short-term economic hit, all Scots know this yet independence is still polling above 50%. The english press lied to us. we were told we would be forced out of the EU if we got independence while it was in reality our only hope of staying in and we were told that we would have MAXIMUM devolution which still to this day has not materialised.
You clearly know very little about Scotland's situation.

i’m from the deep south usa which has a reputation for hospitality and kindness
i lived in spain for 2 years studying and i laughed so hard when you talked about people from spain being nice. that was not remotely my experience. spain is awesome and i met great people, but in no way would i describe most people as “nice.”
and yes i am fluent in spanish and was treated as a local while i was there as i both look spanish as half my ancestors were from spain and was asked by most spaniards what part of spain i was from until i told them i am american.
