Just teared up watching this. My mom took me to Kona skatepark one random day and Dave Mira was putting on an event. Afterward, he signed my helmet as he sat in the parking lot on the back of his SUV.
My mom just texted me and asked me if I remembered that day at the skatepark with all the BMX guys and I was like you mean the day I met DAVE MIRA!? Couldn’t possibly forget…
RIP to this legend.

I just found out a couple days ago that Dave is my grandfather's cousin's son, which makes him my second cousin once removed. I never knew before a couple days ago and I'm sad that I never got to meet him. He's one of my hero's now, Rest in peace.
