    Thank you. I used this knot to get more line on my spool. I had a really bad birds nest that used half of my line. I tied the new line and what was left on my spool together with this knot.

    I knew there had to be something better than two uni-knots tied together! My grandson asks me why i use swivels? Because I never saw this knot. It can't get more simple for an old buzzard!! First two tries works great!! Thank you!

    This is a very simple way to tie two lines together, but I thought I saw a comment that asked how do you perform the tying sequence when one line is attached to a reel, and the other line is wrapped around a spool that you plan to use to spool more line onto the reel once the two lines are tied together. At least that was the jist of it. I did this very thing this morning. I tied an almost empty spool of line to another spool of line, same type line, and wound one spool over to the other. I saw an answer to the above question in a reply to the original question, "make the loop large enough to wind line and spool together through the loop. That's what I did. It was a bit awkward, but I managed to do it. Not sure if I want to use line with a knot in it to spool a reel, but at least if push comes to shove, I have some line I can use.

      Yeah I most often use this for tying tippet to leader on my fly line. If I tie two lines together on the spool, I’ll use a double uni or blood knot. This would work for that though.

    What if one end of one line is attached to the reel and the end of the other line is the new full spool?

    • @ShowMetheHawgs
      @ShowMetheHawgs  Před 2 lety +8

      You’d have to make the loop big enough to slip the reel or spool through. However, if you’re tying two lines on a reel and spool, I’d recommend using a blood knot, which we have a video of: czcams.com/video/DdVN1BLRWzI/video.html With this knot you won’t have to thread your reel and spool through any loops.

    • @ShowMetheHawgs
      @ShowMetheHawgs  Před 7 měsíci +1

      More will make it stronger. Sometimes lighter lines will require a couple more twists or threads or whatever you want to call them to make it stronger. Most of them time 3 works for me. Can’t think of an instance of it ever breaking or slipping.

    how about when the two lines are long lines.

    • @ShowMetheHawgs

    Line size?

    • @ShowMetheHawgs
      @ShowMetheHawgs  Před 5 měsíci

      I avoid significant differences in line diameter. If there is a significant difference, I’d use an Albright knot instead.

  • @lesianson86
    @lesianson86 Před rokem

    Only problem with this is if you have two very long lengths of line, be difficult threading a line thats 300ft three times through the loop. Anyone know any alternatives?

    • @ShowMetheHawgs
      @ShowMetheHawgs  Před rokem +2

      This is primarily if you’re tying a leader onto main line. If you’re tying two extremely long lines together, I’d suggest a double uni knot or a blood knot.

      @@The_X7n5y sure. Without knowing what line you're using, I use braid with a fluorocarbon leader quite a bit for bass. In those cases I'll use a double uni knot. That's another strong knot I feel very comfortable will hold with big bass.
