  • Join me on this Super Exciting journey onboard NOLINOR B737-200 Combi equipped with Gravel Kit to far North Canada. We are flying 4 sectors from Montreal Mirabel via Val-d'Or and onward to Meadowbank Gold Mine and back. The landing and takeoff at Meadowbank is on gravel so it is spectacular to watch!
    The pilots explained all the features on this 37 years old B737-200 Combi with unique gravel kit installed. There are lot of good flying action in this video with primary focus on the operational perspective. Hats off to the hard working crew and those people work in remote places on Earth.
    NOLINOR Aviation's B737-200 Combi is one of a few B737-200 equipped with EFIS (Digital) display in the cockpit.

      It can be considered insulting but remember this is an early 737 with a negligible autopilot, and in the middle of northern Canada. The seemingly unreasonable objection based on a pilot’s health can make the difference between a plane flying and hitting the ground. Even is the copilot takes over that pilot will be guaranteed to be dead if hypothetical heart attack leaves him in critical condition. Over 2 and a half hours to get to the nearest airport could be considered normal in that territory.

      He is actually having to suck in the gut so that the co-pilot will have the full range of the control yoke. If he had to pull the yoke all the way back for some reason, it would hit his stomach before getting to the actual controls limit restricting the flying surfaces which could be bad in an emergency situation. 737's may be different, but in flying GA aircraft when landing you want to always hold the yoke as far back as you can upon touchdown which helps slow the aircraft as well as making the nose gear touchdown softly.

    Ok out of all the videos I have watched this one was the best the best the best! As a kid I flew Frontier Airlines from SNA DEN MOT and always flew on a 737 1 and 2. I remember how loud it was if you were behind that engine but what a treat when you landed, that reverse thruster was the steal of the show. I like how the takeoff was filmed because you really get a idea of how fast that plane is going before it is air born. The sound of those engines too is just priceless, you dont get to hear that sound as much anymore, sometimes an MD80 or if your lucky a 727 Cargo. That was however a great Operation you shared with us Awesome!!

      @@prorobo why is there a jump seat in the cockpit?

    • @prorobo
      @prorobo Před 4 lety +5

      eWorkx it's there primarily for observation of the crew and can be occupied by a company check airman during a line check, an FAA inspector, or another airline pilot trying to hitch a ride when the cabin is full. Before 9/11, at the captain's discretion, anyone could occupy the seat like a child visiting the cockpit in flight. Those days are long gone.
