    I'm 41 and experiencing first hand transitioning from ALWAYS oily skin to drier-at-times skin. It is a rude mf shock. I think Bobbi, who is 63 year old, focused more on the needs of middle-age and older skin with her product line here instead of norm of centering 20-30 something skin with a trendy, fresh, nicely designed product line. As I move into middle age I respect the forward thinking approach. You'll be surprised how much you might need multiple "dewy" products in a few years when you never needed them before and how much your old makeup looks crazy and overdone seemingly over night. It's no joke how different the product needs are in just a few years of age difference.

      That is so true. I'm in my early 60's (look much younger) and am now constantly searching for hydrating foundations and more intense moisturizers. I still like the look of "finished" skin and a polished look so miracle balm alone will never be more me. - and it's quite tacky/sticky - so you have to be careful hugging and touching your own face. I've found hydrating face sprays to be helpful - and they can be used during the day for a boost. YSL makes a great one, as well as Caudalie. Glossier makes a great balm called After Baume, which I find more "usable."

    The thing to keep in mind about Jones Road is that it's not meant to be full glam makeup. It's meant to be quick, no make up makeup to brighten and enhance, which is what Bobbi Brown is all about. I think a lot of times people try to use it the same way as they do traditional makeup to achieve the same looks but it's just not meant for that.

    • @Sha1Lmarie

      You could say that twice - for sure. I put the mirarcle balm over my makeup with gentle pressing - makeup goes bye-bye.

    longtime Jones Road fan here -- I really love to apply the miracle balm as a "finishing " product with a damp beauty blender after I'm done with my makeup!! I find that it helps everything blur together really nicely + doesn't affect the powders/creams underneath :)

    I love it. I’m in my 40s and I can’t use powder anymore because it accentuates every little line. This seems perfect for anyone but especially 40 plus. I would have loved this in my 20s as well though because I am very much a minimalist with makeup.

    I actually use the dusty rose miracle balm and love it! It took me a while to figure out how to use them but this one is a great blush/highlighter and I keep it exclusively on my cheek bones and lips. That way it doesn’t get so sticky or oily and it gives such a pretty glow in pictures. I actually will layer a hourglass blush on top and it looks really lovely

    I love that you reviewed Jones Road! As someone who does "no makeup" makeup and isn't the best with brushes/tools, Jones Road makes doing everyday makeup SO EASY. I'll use Mac F&B for a skin tint and then conceal/brighten with the face pencils. I bring those pencils on the go for touch ups and I love her eyeliner too! I'll sometimes put the miracle balm more concentrated where I'd normally put bronzer/blush and I've been told I look like I got some sun because it gives such a natural tan/bronzed look that doesn't scream makeup, it looks so undetectable and natural. I'll sometimes pat some on my lips and a little on my eye with another topper. It also helps the liner glide on nicely. I really want to try the sparkle wash eye shadows, cream blush, and mascara! Overall, I love Bobbi's approach to makeup, mainly enhancing natural beauty and embracing "flaws" and I love this brand!

    Generally love Allana and love her looks. Part of this vid was trying to embrace the Jones Road philosophy and then part of it was just reverting to the Allana's usual makeup. Why powder and why suggest slapping on intense contour and bronzer after? Would like to just see her be more comfortable with range and difference styles of doing makeup. Bobbi Brown designed this brand to be for younger generations and looking towards future trends. Also, the oil stick is just a face oil (yes also for cuticles) and the hippie balm is an all purpose salve for hair and body too. They have different purposes.

      @maggierobertson2962 Před 2 lety +10

      Great points. I saw this as targeted toward older women since our skin often doesn't play well with powders. It feels like "grown up Glossier" to me. But agreed, I would rather have seen Alana embrace a different style rather than try and force these products to work for her current preferences.

      they're both oily and can both be used as emollients and put anywhere. it's not enough to just say this product is for your left elbow and this product is for you right elbow to differentiate 2 products that essentially do the same thing

    I love that you reviewed Jones Road. I want to try the Miracle balm but there’s SO much product that I held off and waited for smaller sizes-which she offered for Black Friday. But then I couldn’t decide which 3 shades to order and by the time I made up my mind, they were sold out 😂😥. I mostly want to have the Miracle balm for those “no makeup” days and for the days when my face products look like they’re weirdly just sitting on the skin. I believe the balm is supposed to help the products meld into the skin in that situation
    Happy Holidays 🎄❄️🌴⛄️

    I initially I fell in love with the idea of the miracle balm but now I’m thinking the lip and cheek stick tint is more for me, paired with the concealer pencil. Love the idea of the coverage pencil on the go and being able to add some fresh color on my cheeks if I want as well.

    thanks for such an in-depth review Lan. I love how you keep going even when things go south and find a way to fix the makeup! That's keeping it real ;) I think I loved the oil balm and the eye products the best. Not sure about the lip/cheek, stick seems like more balm on top of balm. Maybe without this face base would be better? Jury's still out for me. Loving Lanmas, thanks both for all your hard work/dedication. We are here for it! Much love from Spain

    @gracekraatz3865 Před 2 lety +28

    My first impression with the skin items is that they made have been conceived and released in an order that made them not seem as redundant to the team. Also on their site the oil stick and hippie stick are under skincare and the other is with makeup. Based on the size, I feel like the hippie stick is primarily a body product, but may have been an earlier release hence the short of afterthought addition of ‘you can use this on your face too’. Whereas the oil was made for the face only and as a true oil step. With that the miracle balm (which is the most confusing to me) becomes a kind of glossier future-dew like product where it tows the line between the last step of skincare and the of ‘seal everything in’ mentality vs. the primer/rehydrate/prep for makeup (first makeup product) step. But the colours are confusing because why would you do that for a blush?? I feel like the pigment is what let’s that product down i feel like it could have been along the lines of the RMS or trim by products where it’s a similar cream pot formula for all colour products but then again the sizing is weird. All in all feels like they didn’t think it through (again maybe an early product that was supposed to do everything??). Either way, since all the brands we already know and love seem to be just producing repeats, it’s nice to see a fresh brand change it up (for better or worse). Also lan you’re killing Lanmas (Aka LANDMAS haha) so far!!

    So happy someone finally did a full review of JR! But, I’m surprised you didn’t love the miracle balms! I can honestly say the bronze and dusty rose are two of my most favorite products (of which I have wayyy too many) I love them for gym days, beach days, under makeup, or even on top to add “life”. I never thought I’d use them up but I’ve made a huge dent in bronze! I truly thought they would be right up your alley!! I also will be gifting magic hour for Xmas to my mom because I feel like it would be great for mature skin!

      I bought the bronze balm and I'm actually really liking that too. I don't know if I'll repurchase the WTF..it's kinda thick but looks really natural for being so thick. Basically I like the light coverage just a touch of a skin tint, but I wish it felt lighter than it does. I've only used it today though so I will definitely keep giving it chances and see how I like it. But I think I like the bronze balm as its own skin base on my skin it actually gives me a little coverage on its own

  • @laurenmarieny
    @laurenmarieny Před 2 lety +5

    Try the darker Miracle Balms as a blush using a blush brush. You can build up the color. I also use the Tawny color as a contour with a contour brush to apply and blend it out. Around the house to look more put together I use the Miracle Balm as my eye color, lip color and blush. And the Au Naturel color as a highlight and a lip balm for nighttime. Btw, if you start using a brush to apply it, it gets used up much faster because you're packing on a lot more color. Love the mascara, love her Miracle Cream, too. If you have super dry skin, the Miracle Cream is great.

    Been waiting for this review! 💕 I was drawn to their branding, packaging, etc. too! I’ve been eyeing their Face Pencils and you got me really excited for them! Honestly, I feel that they could’ve gone without the skincare and the clean beauty shtick. I don’t really care about all of that being in many of these brands and frankly, it’s a marketing gimmick profiting off pseudoscience. I work in the marketing industry and they really like to juice it up. That being said, there are some that do try to live up to the name; they source their ingredients sustainably, try to reduce their waste in their labs and their packaging, etc.

    Fantastic review! I love the miracle balm. However, I usually only use it by itself for a no-makeup ish kind of day. I find that it typically does really well with my skin if I’m not layering other things on top of it. So I may do a tiny bit of concealer under the eyes and spot treat but other than that I let the balm live freely. For my skin, it brings a sun kissed glow like I’ve been out in the sun. It may not be for everyone but I love to be glowy and let my freckles shine through!

    I’ve found this is a VERY moisturizing minimalist makeup line. I use just the miracle balm, face pencils and mascara. And the other things I use at night, if at all. I don’t even need to moisturize in the morning.
    If you give it all another go, use one moisturizing product. Watching several JR video/livestreams helped me narrow my product lineup, but yes. There is no one-size fits all here, which can be overwhelming, but if you narrow it down, it may work better for you.
    How I think of the products (which of course, I bought all of, and now only use like, 3… my makeup routine is now SO easy. Love it)
    Miracle cream: VERY heavy moisturizing night/hands and heels cream.
    Light miracle cream: daily moisturizer
    Eye cream: heavenly-you need it.
    Hippie Stick: body/lip/cuticle balm
    Oil stick: mimics your skin’s natural oils, I sometimes use just it in the morning with mascara.
    Miracle balm: moisturizing skin tint. Different tint colors do different things. It’s weird, but I can make them all work, and love them, despite my 30-something oily skin.
    Jones Road transformed my makeup and skin routine but it really acts like no other brand out there.
    Hope that helps!

    I was so excited to see how these products performed for you, but honestly, I feel like the best thing in the line up was the sweatshirt...thanks for taking one for the team haha

    I purchased the Miracle Balm during this past summer. Living in Central California where it easily can be 110° in the summer, I felt grimy after trying to wear the Miracle Balm during the day. It stayed a sticky consistency on my face and made me feel like I was wrapped in plastic wrap. I should maybe try it again as now we are dealing with temps in the 50's. I'm glad you mentioned Victoria Beckham eye pencil as I love the way it applies and I used it to tight line my upper eye lid, only for it to travel to my under eye area.

    I recently received a lot of Jones Road products for my 58th Birthday. I’m terrified to use. It definitely is beautiful on your young skin. I’m going to try it soon. Thank you for your honesty:)

    Hello gorgeous Allana 🥰 ahh i'm so happy to see u review Jones Road - as a loyal Bobbi Brown fan, her new passion project definitely sparked curiosity in me! As for future content, I would love to see an updated full face of Nars/CT/Dior from you, as well as any "top 10 in a certain category", and of course: my makeup collection if i weren't a beauty guru! 😍

    The Miracle Balm is literally for the face. The hippie stick would be like you said for heels, elbows, cuticles. I watched her with the face oil to apply to neck prior to the miracle balm on the neck.

    I wonder if her line will be just as great as some of the Bobbi brown products.

    Soooo happy to hear your ‘confusion’ regarding the different products. I got two balms. I found them to smell very medicinal and the application was like Vaseline. I appreciate the honest reviews. Also, what does the foundation actually do? I found the whole line to be redundant, felt heavy on my face.

    I just received the magic balm. I got the dusty rose, flushed, and magic hour. I was afraid the colors would not show. But they are perfect. Each color has the perfect tint for my skin. I considering possibly the tawny because I love the reddish tint. But, I really like the colors I bought!!! They are perfect. My skin is so dry that it has absorbed this into my skin. It is a bit of shiny, but I love how it feels on my skin. I’m 63 and so what used to be a zone has become a drier skin!

      Bobbi had mentioned on tiktok that she doesn't really recommend the balms for very oily skin, but if you use setting powder it would still function well for that skin type.

    Thanks so much for this review. I've been thinking of trying Jones Road, especially because it's Bobbi's own thing. But tbh, none of the products looked like they had much of an impact, and I feel it would probably fade/ disappear on my skin. Anyway, this review was useful. Thanks!
