  • I wasn't planning any trips soon, but when I saw this cruise go for $33/night per person, it was a no-brainer! Join me on this walk as I board PO's Pacific Adventure from Sydney.
    I'll show you the different venues, food, my inside cabin, and all the fun on sailing day. You'll also see some of the most beautiful places in the South Pacific including Mystery Island, Luganville, Port Vila, and Noumea.

    Went on this ship in 2017 when it was called the Golden Princess and it was a surprisingly lovely ship even though it was one of Princess' older ships. It looks like P&O has massively improved it with the waterslides and some extra dining venues (though the extra charges for certain food items is very questionable). I also went on the Ovation of the Seas in 2020 (I noticed you did too) and there's something about the older ships that the newer ships can't replicate. You just feel the history in the ships, like staying on the Titanic or something, which is something Ovation could never replicate as it was just too high tech for me. ANd the price you paid for this cruise is simply outrageous.

      Yeh I don't think I'll ever get that price ever again. I got really lucky

    We are booked on this in October 2023. Travelled on this ship 3 times when it was the Golden Princess. Very disappointing that the Burgers and the Pizzas are now charged for (With Princess they were included). Also fancy ice-cream. Who needs it. Soft serve previously was fine and free (As it is on Carnival). The fares have increased but not so the inclusions (travelled with P & O in 2012,2013 and 2014 but looks like it's more about making as much money out of the traveler with providing a fun experience. I am hoping that the cruise is as enjoyable as my previous P & O cruises were.🤞

    • @WalksForYou
      @WalksForYou  Před rokem

      Yeh I avoided the food that had extra charge. There's already plenty of free food around the ship. Although I think the 10 day mark is my breaking point where I crave for variety

    • @WalksForYou
      @WalksForYou  Před rokem +4

      Hi Fabrizio,
      I got very lucky with this one. But I think at the time of booking, a few things contributed to the cheap price. There was some very bad press about P&O in the news (related to someone overboard). The insurance to South Pacific was quite expensive too. Plus, the original price should have been about $40-50/day but the site I booked on (oz cruizing) seemed to have glitched. When I clicked on the final "Book Now" button, the price changed...and on this occasion, it dropped very low. So I booked! 😆

    I'll be sailing on her in October, just a short 4 nighter. We must remember it's a budget cruise line, so with a relatively lower fare there are fewer inclusions. Compare the price of a similar cruise on Princess, RCL, HAL, NCL, etc. I've tried the free pizza on Carnival, and i wouldn't feed them to my dog, they are horrible IMO. They make Dominos look gourmet. I'm going on board knowing it's a budget line and setting my expectations accordingly, plus cost cutting, especially on food, is industry wide, not just P&O Australia. Otherwise she looks like a lovely ship, and I'm sure I can readily gorge myself on free food...not that I eat much haha.

    • @WalksForYou
      @WalksForYou  Před rokem

      I've been on carnival before and agree...food isn't great. P&O seems better overall. Enjoy the trip!

      @@dylancoleman124 Hi Dylan,
      That's the cascade waterfalls (or Melee cascades) in Port Vila. The rope is right at the end of the walk. You can swing and jump down, but just make sure you're a strong swimmer. Looking back, I don't think it's that safe to be honest! After jumping down, and swimming back to shore, there are some large rocks underneath. Just swim slowly and swim with the tide.
      The turtle place was called The Reef Vanuatu Zoological. Its on most of the brochures when we arrived at the port. It's like a small sanctuary. And the blue sunken hole, we just passed by so we could cool off. I think there are a few different ones around Port Vila
      You should be able to hit all 3 places in 3-4 hours. Then head back to the ship for a nice feast :-)
      Keep in mind, you have to pay entry fees at each place. I can't remember the exact cost, but you're looking at $10-$20/person

    What tour was the last one in the river?

    • @WalksForYou
      @WalksForYou  Před rokem

      Hi Chloe,
      The last river where visitors jumped into the water is Mele Cascades in Port Vila. We had a driver take us around the area and that was one of the more popular stops. Good spot for a dip in the water too since its usually quite hot. It's about a casual 15 minute walk along the river to the waterfall area. Around halfway, there's a free fruit stand as well where locals serve bananas and other fruits

    You don't mention a 2nd passenger - I tried numerous times to get a solo booking, but it always cost in excess of 2k - even through Ozcruising...

    • @WalksForYou
      @WalksForYou  Před rokem +1

      I always travel with my partner so I guess it was $66/night for both of us. Ozcruising probably isn't the best site to use if you're traveling solo. Other sites may have more options, but traveling solo in 1 cabin will generally cost more. Prices will also depend on the season and availability of each cruise. Just need to keep an eye on it each week to see if the prices change or drop.

      November and early December usually have good deals (just before school holidays)

    • @ColetteNicoll
      @ColetteNicoll Před rokem

      @@WalksForYou on the contrary. I'd always go to Oz cruising for Solo availability & lower prices - especially for P&O - in the past, but yes - November/December I did NZ last year on Princess. Because I'm "Elite"🤦🏻‍♀️ - I don't mind getting an inside room with them. All the little extras + the best TV @ sea.
