@@AnkurLEGUMDeputy Commissioner ( DC) from my state is also an IAS. They use DC, IAS in their seal. It looks like if you get your job via UPSC then even if you’re not necessarily an IAS you’re still titled as IAS along with your designated position.

Morale is an IAS salary is 3lacs at senior position whereas junior to mid junior earns 1~2 lacs pm excluding deduction. Ias coaching on other hand is a million dollar business in India. Don't know why people are so crazy about upsc
And to add, UPSC selection is only 0.1 to 0.2 percent. So, just to select a thousand brilliant minds, lakhs of people give UPSC exam
