I have been WAITING to play this game. Every time I’ve wanted to play PS, it was always dead servers. I really hope it gets the love it truly deserves.
After playing HLL for 362 hours and playing Squad 44 for only 35 hours so far, I can say SQ44 is the better game. Way more immersive and gritty experience. Communication too is required unlike HLL.
all the HLL players that complain about how no one communicates should all just swap to SQ44, HLL isnt the game theyre looking for but SQ44 is. nowadays HLL is just battlefield hardcore mode

Well then you experienced the old amazing HLL, and thats not easy to beat. by far old HLL was one of the best gaming experiences. That being said, the game is taking hard turns from a community base, not the game play itself. Im pretty sick of HLL now. All these dam COD players just 'playing' to have a new game on hand. All servers need a LEV 100 Min for commander, and 70 for SL. But im deep into Manor Lords now, havent touched HLL in 2 weeks. Might look into this.
Post Scriptum audio is just unmatched to this day. Tarkov is the only close competitor but this game's audio is just so F'ing immersive.
They already plan to buy new sounds for this game soon

Ayyy I played a few rounds with you last week! Glad to see Squad 44 getting some good promo after the update.
This definitely shows potential. The graphics look so much more immersive post-update. But as someone with limited gaming time on his schedule, I'll wait until they make the weapons mechanics and kill animations more dynamic/organic.
When that's said, I am thoroughly impressed by the way they've applied vaulting / boosting / exploring weird positionings. That honestly looks like it can change the entire flow of the game and make room for creativity and cooperation to boot

it is a ton of fun tbh it feels alot more like if gates of hell ostfront was like hell let loose, more weapons, more historical accuracy, more vehicles, which, i love ww2 history and stuff so seeing more content just feels amazing in squad 44

@@goodie7082 if you look past the lack of graphical detail and older look of SQ44 and just play a dozen matches you see why, the gameplay is so much better and communication exists, teams feel much more coordinated etc

@@HejMeeeenthou i think hll would have more players because it appeals to a bigger market. Not to mention hll also mad skirmish which is close to rising storm 2 a hardcore but fast paced game.
I think the drinking mechanic is crucial - shows the difference between a methodical section who stop and drink before a push and a wild bunch of crazies who don't prep right.
This game has something unique that HLL will never have. I don't care about the player base of each games. One is clearly more arcadey, the other one is more a niche game. But it has something special to it that you can't find in any other game out there. Call it dev's love and passion, call it great sound design, call it great gun handling, call it immersion (the first times i've played Squad 44/post scriptum, i was so tense and i feared for my life a couple of times). I don't know, this game is just one of those special ones.
It's nice that servers actually work now. I hope they add some Canadian battles to the game!
ive got 560 hours on HLL but im switching to SQUAD44 recently, with just 26 hours is SQ44 i can say its a far better ww2 game for several reasons
people actually talk and use teamwork, 80% of HLL squads are near totally silent and teamwork is scarce. experienced players helped me get the basics quick
SQ44 doesnt funnel players into a meat grinder like HLL does, HLL maps are just one long funnel that doesnt allow tactical movement
The gameplay actually feels like an immersive representation of how ww2 was fought, the maps feel far more realistic than the single lane maps of HLL. in HLL its just running back and forth between circles, theres no weight to it and it feels arcadey. in SQ44 the maps allow for a lot more tactical movement and flanking
map terrain in SQ44 is a lot more realistic and immersive, and leads to better gameplay.
tank gameplay is light years ahead HLL, the tanks have actual damage and armour/penetration models and are historically accurate with mobility etc and feel more immersive. HLL tanks feel like your playing battlefield but first person and having the controlls seperated to 2 players, SQ44 feels like warthunder with controlls seperated to several players. HLL tank gameplay is incredibly boring because its rock paper scissors heavy tank meta.
SQ44 tanks can take various forms of damage, hitting critical components even with the weakest AT weapons can slowly limit their effectiviness. usually tanks get immobilised slowly lose their crew which feels a lot more realistic, rather than just exploding after two rockets to the rear
vehicle variety makes SQ44 feel more immersive and much more exiting, the system of having limited spawns per vehichle leads to a great economy that reflects real life availability of equipment, sure the germans can get a tiger 2 but only one of them and its expensive to lose one which makes it a gamble to use at a bad time. you also have anything from infantry support tanks to tank destroyers which gives fun variety
effects and sound design are far far better, gunfire sounds scary and pretty close to ukraine footage etc. audio is some of the best ive heard
surpression actually works and is a viable mechanic unlike in HLL, machineguns arent just automatic sniper rifles like in HLL
medic class is actually viable and important
communication and teamwork are actually required unlike HLL, and most people do both in this game unlike HLL
SQ44 has far more factions/weapons/vehicles/content
SQ44 gunplay feels miles better than the arcadey yet somehow also clunky HLL gunplay

Coms are a must and a requirement on hll too, but it is a fact that in the last year, 80% of people are not talking.
The team who coms and marks more is the team who wins. It totaly makes a dofference and it is a must. Overal, indeed squad is best but you were very bios on your critics

Still not tired of this game.... even when the playerbase was at it lowest I still enjoyed playing it.
I love this game, make 30-40 kils each game.
Actually some teamplay in here.
bolt actions feel like weapons, kill in mostly 1 hit.
Mg34 is simply amazing, can even no scope spray some people.
mg42 will shoot quicker running out of ammo quicker and requiring a bipod, so that only gets used on the defense for me.
Geez, the effects alone are worth playing for!

I would say it depends if Offworld will try to change the game in a more HLL direction they may get more players but not as succesfull as HLL. Which is silly because the people that play HLL will to continue playing HLL. You would need something gamechanging (or the developer of HLL fuck up big time) to get an already loyal playerbase from one game to yours. Another reason why it is silly is because you would alienate your fanbase of the old Post Scriptum which is like a huge middlefinger the the fans and players who have played the game even though it seemed abandoned. I would honestly say they should go into a more Arma type game direction as they already have a dedicated community and if you give your community a chance to participate in the development of the game (building scenarios like recreating the Battle of El--Alamein etc.) I think only good will come out of it. :)
P. S. (ironic ;) ): I think the existing community of the game is the complete opposite of CoD as most people are just nice and want to have fun (maybe because the target audience is not 16y old Zoomers).
While HLL has medics if people don't need to get revived and they can just give up and spawn 20sec later in instead of waiting for a medic only for him to get shot 3m away from you why would you play medic. As someone with a bad PC and even worse aim support roles such as the medic make the most fun as you feel a little bit more useful and in Squad 44 with the ticket system at the end of the game you can say I revived X people and maybe prevented our team from loosing the game.
This video is a true wake up call to me. Gonna write some of my old buddies and reconnect through Post Scriptum (I don't want to call it Squad: 44...).
This game is so underrated and so much more enjoyable than Hell Let Loose imo. Glad to see you are playing it.

I was a regular player four years back and had a great time. The game was just not optimised and had some cod 2 graphics. I guess I'll have to reinstall again now. It looks way better.

Been playing this game for longer than HLL personally i always thought it was a better game. The only problem was nobody played it and it was dying. So I jumped over to HLL. Both games are fun, but for different reasons. Squad 44 seems to be better with squads actually communicating and people taking the SL role. HLL it seems like nobody understands the importance of spawn placements. But i do enjoy the progression system in HLL.
Would love this game come to consoles. Sound is really good tbh.

squad 44 is very difficult, I always played very well and had hell let loose fun, but I tried something new, I couldn't play squad 44.

Alpine, do you think a lack of progression is hurting Squad44? Even just a rank system? I think it keeps people on Hell Let Loose when they're working towards a new skin or class. Although, I do not want weapons locked progression.
Yes I believe so (or I hoped if the devs don’t mess it up). S44/PS has so much more potential than HLL.

i hate the site model for the kar98k no front site hood over the post. thats like a very late war model of the kar98k when the fighting is in berlin, even then most of the models soldiers had would have had that hood over the front site as it made target acquisition easier

For me, the deciding factor is how the game plays/feels. I've put maybe 20 hours into playing Squad off/on whenever a major update happens, but each time I lose interest because the pacing is too slow and the game sucks without a good squad communicating with one another. HLL has much friendlier pacing and you're not completely screwed if your squad isn't the best. HLL perfectly balances a casual gaming feeling while also allowing for a more hardcore experience if the conditions are right. So for me, this only competes against HLL if they take a more casual approach; if the game becomes Squad but WW2 setting, then I can't say I'm too interested.
It's much more action packed than squad. 44 has quicker time to get back into the fights and good comms and organised units unlike HLL

@@Stoney-Cat yea man I'm new to 44, with 280 hrs on HLL and 105 on squad. Squad44 has amazing sound effects& you can actually sprint unlike HLL, with the sale price, you have to try it, if you like WW2, you love it

I've just bought the game! How long can it take to get a grip on the game after getting to level 260 in HLL?
It takes a bit, I'm level 300 in Hll, they are similar in many ways but completely different in others. Don't give up if you feel frustrated at the start it will soon become one of your favorite games
most players are willing to help out, in my experience the majority of players are very friendly to new players like myself
ive got 26 hours in SQ44 and understand the basics to a point where i roughly know what situation is, ive learned the tanking basics aswell most of wich directly carry over from HLL
How about controller compatibility? I've been a console player for a long time and I find it difficult to use a mouse and keyboard. I chose Hell let Loose over Post Scriptum and even Squad because it had the best controller setup.

Your title implies it's something new from hll but this game came out before hll and failed then died. It has new owners now and I'm interested in seeing where it goes but I don't have my hopes up. based on my experience with this game, the community (or lack of), and the general gameplay, graphics, environment, HLL is the superior game of the 2.

They added two new maps in a completely different theater a couple of months ago, and just upgraded the visuals and overhauled all chapter 1 maps... chill...

Looks pretty decent. Not sure if it was the server but the players move/run, aiming, looks janky; Not really smooth looking IMO. One thing i love about HLL, very fluid game. Honestly the lack of vet players/Comm, is whats killing HLL, not the game itself. Gameplay on HLL is top. Hmm
pretty annoyed with western front in games, especially typical Normandy. only mods solve problems with unknown or ignored battles
such a different games hll and this. weapons are way too acurate in hll in this game much more realistic

its being updated constantly, after previous devs abandoned it, squad devs got their hands on post scriptum named it squad 44 and revived it, last major update was april 15

I really like this game and playid it for a good amount but the only dealbreaker for me was the stupid stamina system -> I am not a fan of stamina but this cantin thing is the worst system ever… the game is hard as it is i would just ditch the whole stamina system as a whole

New graphics are much better & were much needed... But it's still too pretty for me. You're meant to be out in a war, not out for a picnic. HLL looks & feels like a warzone, Squad44 looks like a nice day out.

Huh? War doesn't only happen in "ugly" locales. Over time, fighting will make its mark on the surrounding area, but otherwise places just be places. Eugene Sledge remarks in his book that one of the striking things about Okinawa compared to Pelelieu was how he could see the beauty of Okinawa before heading south into the war torn areas of southern Okinawa around Shuri Castle.
@@Kottery You're going in to areas that have had bombs dropped from the sky, artillery fired in to areas, bullets flying everywhere... But no bullet holes anywhere, no craters, not the slightest bit of damage on any building, or anything? It doesn't have to be long involved in battle, for it to still show some scars from the battle you are currently fighting, it's unlikely the battle will be on day 1, min 1, even after an hour or 2 of a battle, there will be severe damage. So for not one single map to have one single bit of damage, is very unrealistic... All that aside, it's my opinion that these maps don't look or make me feel like I'm in a warzone, where as HLL there's no doubt you are deep in a warzone. And Okinawa is a bit different, it was only a cpl of months long, whereas places in Europe the battles went on for a lot longer & loads of cities got levelled. And we're not talking about seeing a nice part in Squad44 before heading to a war torn area south on the map, because it's all nice looking, there is no war torn area, ever. Sledge wasn't saying even the parts the battle was taking place looked pretty & untouched by war.

All good but... it surely has space for tatical movement. Thats on you dude. And it is a WW in 1940. SQUAD its meant to be a modern warfere... waaaaaaaaaay different taticals in those times. No comparison to be maxe about that. Meatgrinders were a norm in ww. In modern warfere its all tatical missions. You cant compare both those things.

I enjoy the more "clunky" and un-smooth gameplay of S44 because it feels more realistic, but I can understand why the more even flow and smooth animations and arcadey gunplay appeals to others. It's night and day but one is not ultimately better than the other for it.
