I love how Brian is genuinely concerned he may hurt this guy throwing that barbell at him 😂
Ever heard of liability?
@@wileecoyote5749 Nah. The guy doing the catching of the bar was quite adamant he can handle it, so there would be no liability if he gets knocked out cold by that bar flying towards him. I certainly understand Shaw being concerned with basically throwing a bar as hard he can in the direction of a guy half his size.
That is 100% a legitimate concern. That's why they told him to not go all out without weight on it.
Haha he wors airborn for a sek
Have you ever heard of bald Superman? 😂
The way Brian said, “are u sure?” Had me laughing so hard😂😂😂
Yes, same. That was hilarious. He's like, I'm going to kill somebody if they try to catch this at 100%.
Like when a nurse told me to squeeze the side of her hand as hard as I could, I said "I don't want to hurt you". But she ignored me. Yet after I started squeezing she opened her mouth as if shocked and said "stop, it's enough". I guess she thought a little old sick guy like me was nothing to be concerned about. I neglected to tell her I'd been grip training at home
I died laughing at that spot as well
Even surprised the other guy.
Guaranteed this was the hardest day of this guy's career. And I know he regretted his choice of words a few times.
Honestly I bet the sports science guys at these places actually fucking love getting to study these crazy physical outliers like Brian. You can kinda tell with how fascinated they are by his numbers.
Yeah bro I see there expressions of how much of a demon he is haha

Outliers are interesting. If I was a sport scientist and people said Brian Shaw was visiting, I'd try to see that too.
As someone being use to Newtons I literally got flabbergasted by the 7 343N on the deadlift pull honestly it got me a brain fart 😂
About ten years ago, I ran two gyms and was in the best shape of my life. I had a similar company come try to sell us on their products similar to whats being shown here. Although the technology wasn’t as good as they have here, the results are comparable… now let me tell you out of a gym with 10,000 members, I was pound for pound one of the strongest there. And This dude here is easily 40% stronger than I was at my peak. Saying he’s a straight BEAST is an understatement!
I don’t think I’ve seen anything scarier than Brian on that bicycle when he was going 100%
It looked like it was about to fly apart
The instructor looked terrified. At one point he even makes a face like this guy can probably rip this thing apart.
It's like a bear chasing you on bike.
If he crashed a truck..the truck driver would be dead

@@Stoic302 Imagine stating you will end up in hell for not believing, real bullshit right there.
That slap machine looks like a really good way to tear a bicep. It looked to me like Brian was really holding back on that one, not surprising though.
Honestly thought so too
Yea he definitely did not full power that slap for risk of injury prob
Agreed!!
It’s not a slap machine. It’s just a striking machine in general and they decided to go for a slap.
Probably didn't want to be financially responsible for the machine and also everything in its path to the wall, and the wall itself, and the vehicles on the other side of the wall. 🤣🤣
Brian could easily break 60k on the slapping test, there's soooo much room for technique improvements! Which makes it all the more impressive how high he is already hitting.
100% man
The fact that he hasn't really made much use of his hip rotation and could already generated that amount of force is mind boggling.
If he used a technique like vasilli does. Hed murder ppl lol
Imagine being on the opposite side of Brian in a slapping comp. Do you forfeit or risk being decapitated?
Just a Casual Slap with no rotational technique, with a bit of training of how to punch he might double his force. Would love to see eddy and thor who both trained a bit boxing do that
His amount of grip strength power is shocking. The man could crush somebodies wrist like it’s nothing.
Right lol bill riders can’t hit half of that.
He told a story of when he played basketball on college and he blocked someone. They ran into him and *broke their back.*
Apparently it wasn't unusual for people to knock themselves out running into him either
Grip strength is absolutely critical for strongman competitions. I bet if you brought everyone who was at WSM in there, their numbers would universally be out of this world.
He would crush someones skull like a watermelon if he can get a hold of that
He better stay away from UFC
I think arm wrestlers would have higher grip strength, most their training involves in that field. People like Denis cyplencov, levan saginashvilli, vitaly laletin might peak higher than strongmen
I think that for anyone who may question the athleticism of strong men or think that anyone could do it, this is a great explainer for the difference between men like Brian and guys like me: he is just incredibly in tune with his body, learns coordination super quickly, has incredible control at peak output and is so damn consistent (if he’s not improving quickly!). Some incredible moments there!
Watching Brian throw that bar at trainer gave me a new appreciation for his explosiveness. Now granted if we were talking the old Brian Shaw he didn't have the same athleticism and speed as he does now. He's always been super strong and in tune with his body, but over the years we really got to see Brian evolve into almost the perfect combination of speed, athleticism, power, and consistency to become one of the very best to do it.
His intensity and form are inspirational
Shaw played basketball in college, he is definitely very athletic and explosive.
I think it’s cause it takes a lot more control. 😅 Like I genuinely believe big people are usually less coordinated I think solely cause they got more mass to move. 😅 Like cause you’re bigger, it’s gonna take more strength and honestly control to have your body move how you want it to. Still big people can get way stronger then a smaller dude and I think anyone can train athleticism, just keep playing a sport, train to get your strength up and it’ll come. 😂
I swear sometimes you gotta work on the fundamentals like literally just running and you’d be amazed what you can actually do. 😂
With grip strength like this he can grab your soul but he is too nice to do that
hahahah duude
lol😆
Yup BrIan is amazing
I wonder what his full grip + pull and push strenght would be if he could hold with one hand on someone's hip - season. And one time shoulder season.

Brian "noodle neck" Shaw , Eddie is going to have a field day with that one. lol
Old school weight lifters used to train the neck. Nowadays, no one does it
@@MikeBarbarossa well it's also bad to overtrain your neck. These guys overtrain to the maximum and they handle it but injuring your neck is a lot worse than injuring your bicep.
@@MikeBarbarossa because it’s not worth the neck problems

He’s such a wholesome guy. Just always ready to learn more and engaging such a great guy. Need more people like him in the world

Its nice to see Brian around regular sized people instead of other massive guys, now I have a better idea of how big he really is. He's huge!
I’ve never seen anyone break more records they didn’t train for than Brian Shaw.
Have you tried navigating?
Even with poor technique Brian broke the slap record
"Throw that bar at me as hard as you can"
Me thinking: is he serious?
Brian: are you sure?
😂😂😂😂😂😂
4:40....Brian understood the lift concept and was set to do what made sense to him. Instead of letting him tear it from the floor...he was told to lift straight and not be able to use his legs.
Brian being humble by going 75 percent (if that) on the slap machine. He felt that 52 was ok and just to let the record holder keep his record for now.
That's not what it sounded like at 26:55 where he talks about being emberassed by his lower scores and needing to work on his technique. He even admits these tests brought out his competitive side so he would have been trying his hardest.

If Brian gets like 12 kg more in the grip force (which he with technique certainly can, and can reproduce it on another dynamometer), he has the strongest recorded grip in the world. The record is 159,3 kg by Vitaly Laletin (russian arm wrestler).
That one made my eyes big.

He has the strongest grip in the world, that dynamometer Vitaly used is substantially inferior to the equipment you see in this vid. And in general if you've watched his other vids you would know that his grip is unmatched. He has several world record grip lifts, he's one of less than 5 people that did reps with the millennium dumbbell, Vitaly couldn't lift a slightly lighter dumbbell at around 215 pounds (though he was very close).
Laletin is a Monster
If I ever get into a fight with brain I’ll have to remember to use a ladder and go for the neck 😂

For those wondering about deadlift, Brian got 7628 Newtons and Eddie got 7483 Newtons on his channel
on the final pull are they allowed to straighten their legs?
@@wheelmanstan straightening the legs is seen as a disadvantage because you can't put anymore leg drive into the pull. Straight limbs are an advantage in holding the weight for longer but for applying maximum pull you need a little bit of flexion.
@@shashishekharsingh4652 these guys deadlift more than they can squat, so straighter legs and using the lower back is probably advantageous to a strongman

17:28 - According to Magnus Midtbø (the rock climber) it is for some reason fairly normal for people to have a stronger grip on their non-dominant hand. I dont know why, but I suspect from my own life that it has to do with the left often being the "supporting" hand while doing something with the right. Typically I do bigger movements with the left side and more fine motor movement with my right (being right handed ofc). Lets say you are loading plates on a barbell, typically for me at least, id lift it with both hands, hold it there mostly with the left sarm to keep it steady while using the right hand to line up the hole with the bar end.
Honestly I dont know though, its just really interesting to me, and Ive been noticing it more and more after I was told.
i think it has to do with your dominant hand/arm being used way more often and also in a more "endurance" based way than your other. for example, i am right handed, but my left biceps is WAY stronger. But when it comes to endurance, my left biceps fails much much earlier than my right one, so i think thats the main reason. since your dominant arm/hand is needed for complex fine motor skills, its trained to be "softer" than your opposing side
@@omniphile. Thats interesting, I dont think ive ever seen any data that indicates you can train a muscle group "softer" at the expense of max strength though?
I dont know, im not one of those people with a stronger offhand grip, I just find the phenomenon interesting
@@kvernesdotten it's not "softer" per se, it's more like that your dominant side tends to have less fast twitch fibers since fine motor skills are often times more endurance based. Think of writing, brushing teeth, using your computer mouse etc. You tend to use your dominant hand for nearly any task, and it really adds up over the course of the day. But I could be completely wrong, it's just my suggestion
@@omniphile. Yeah I get that, Ive just never seen any evidence that developing fine motor skills or endurance comes at the expense of strength somehow. Apart from the actual time invested in one or the other of course. But likewise, I could be entirely wrong haha.
I did have an accident that caused me to live in a hospital for almost a year for surgeries and physical rehab, and when I couldnt use my right leg it caused the left one to be "over developed" according to the physicians and it far exceeded the right leg on everything from fine motor skills, endurance and raw strenght. It was, and still is, better than what my right leg has ever been. Bit extreme example and not actually a hand, but point is that one doesnt necessarily exclude the other. Or so I think at least.
But hey, evidently the right hand thing is absolutely real and fairly well known. So at this point your guess holds more water than mine.
@@kvernesdotten ur observation could be because of the following: the origin of all movement comes from? right, the brain. its not merely the size or strenght of the muscle itself, strenght/fine motor skills are also determined by the nervous system. so if you stop using one leg, and only use the other one, the capacity of your nervous system to navigate the muscles in this one is way higher (u could argue it kinda doubles). i assume thats one of the reasons, but again, im not a doctor or physiotherapist, just a biology student with a fascination for sports and related stuff. my knowledge is big, but it would be interesting to hear some expert opinion on this. i might ask some friends, i will get back to you here when done.
I would like to say you Eddie Nick and Robert are my reason to hit the gym i worked out before i turned 21 but then i got cancer but that was 5 years ago and i just now started picking up going to the gym again and i wanna say thank you guys

I like how much of a difference that small grip adjustment made in the output during that 20 second grip test. Really demonstrates how making adjustments matter in something like armwrestling. My impression is that Brian's last slap wasn't at 100%. I watched it in slow motion, and it resembles the previous slaps, that is, without particular effort. I think Brian can slap much harder, i.e. twisting his torso faster and giving a loud yell like in previous performances. Btw this is an amazing video👏👏👏
9:00 "Are you sure?" 😂😂😂 Brian having second thoughts as he might kill these puny humans while doing these workouts
Your a true leg'end geezer much respect. Been a pleasure watching you compete🙌👍
Listen here, Noodle Neck. I've enjoyed watching your video. This was awesome to see how this stuff goes. I'm going to start watching your stuff because you seem like an amazing guy.
You & Eddie inside the UFC PI with all their tech would be too good!🤣 Be like kids in a sweet shop
Never heard of this training facility, pretty cool to see you go through the different tests and how they measure ur performance
OK? So you know of every training center in the world? 🤣 I'm sure there are thousands of training facilities that you don't know about.
@J C that wasn’t his point first of all and second of all what is your point even
The UFC performance center was recently built, around 2016 or 2017 along with the apex center. It's world renown now tho.
