Hogfish Structure! What to look for when fishing offshore.

We ran out about 15 miles outside of Tampa Bay to target Hogfish. In this video we talk about and show you the actual structure we are fishing to catch hogfish and how it looks on the bottom machine. Using the Insta 360 X3 to capture our underwater views you will see how the ledges and open hard bottom will hold the fish. We also capture a hogfish taking a bait and getting chased by a shark. Man, let me tell you how great it was to pull up to the shop by boat and fill up the live wells with bait!! We got into some red grouper, gags and lane snapper just outside the skyway on Thursday. We passed you on the way out. It looked like you were headed in. Absolutely love the addition of the bait shop!

What size and color jig heads do you use? What pound test braid and leader?

I heard the easiest way to get fiddler dig a hole in the top of the bucket at level with the ground through put your shrimp in come back later

Once the sharks are on the catch, I just move. Not worth the waste. I notice lots of triggerfish in the underwater vids. Bait thieves. Do you ever catch keeper size triggers in the hogfish areas?

Yeah we move too. Every once in a while we will get a keeper trigger. Generally we get them when they are out of season of course.

Depends we have fished as close as 4 miles to 25 miles and caught hogfish.
