    This is awesome stuff. My faith and hope has been restored in God in this area--- to effectively spread the Gospel. I live in Philly so being a Christian isn't easy. There are sooo many different belief systems out here that are counterfeit to the one True God and the Holy Trinity. God Bless!

    This was increasingly helpful and eye opening. I knew whitewashing happened in many areas of the faith but never realized the extent of it in Christian institutions. I appreciate and admire this panel, thanks for bringing a clear response to the arguments made by the conscious community. keep it coming! Blessings!

      Slaves Obey your Masters? What Bible are you reading? NIV with the missing scriptures? I mean Ephesians 6 : 5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters Colossians 3 : 22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; 1 Peters 2: 18 Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear.....Get a real Bible and you will know that there is a difference between a Servant and a Slave......There scriptures are talking about how Israelites should deal with one another...Not Slaves which are from other Nations.....All these Pastors may sound good...but that all are Lost....Proof that Servants means dealing with Hebrews ! Exodus 21 : 2 If thou buy an Hebrew servant, six years he shall serve: and in the seventh he shall go out free for nothing....you can read on down to the 21 Verse.....These So called Pastors need to stop their Madness.....

    • @TheUrbanPerspective
      @TheUrbanPerspective  Před 6 lety +1

      Joseph Bailey read How Africa Shaped the Christian Mind by Thomas Oden. In terms of dates, Primarily from The Reformation on (I’m not saying Luther and Calvin are to blame), but Adolph von Harnack was intentional about removing and ignoring contributions of people of color to the Christian faith. He along with other ‘scholars’ whitewashed African church fathers. It continues today with the perpetuation of white faces of Jesus, Augustine, Athanasius, Tertulian and so on. The issue isn’t just the original date, but the fact that we really don’t have an end date with schools perpetuating the myth.

    The Canaanites were supposed to be servants as far as I am aware to Shem? This was because of idolatry prounounced by Noah. As for Paul looking like an Egyptian Phenotypically this could be but you have to contrast this with Simon the Niger and Jeremiah 13 v 23 but Manasseh and Ephraim Tribes were half-Egyptian and some Canaanites were also mixed.

    I think you guys make some pretty important point here. I have hated the Euro/ white Jesus for decades now. He had Olive skin! I also really want to know about the contributions of my African brothers to the roots of our faith by men like Athanasius and others. The one issue I had is that according to what I have studied about Roman slavery, you greatly understate to harshness and abuse in it. Yes, a slave could buy freedom, but you never mention the fat that it was legal for a slave owner in Roman society to kill his or her slave. Some slaves were also used by their owners for sexual relations. Some slaves came to be slaves by being kidnapped from a conquered people group. Sadly, slavery in Rome was much closer to that in America than any of us would want to admit...

    I agree with some thins that he said. But when he said that Solomon illegally took on slaves he was wrong. According to Leviticus 25:39-46 there is a difference between hebrew servants and strangers that are servants.
    Hebrews couldn't be ruled over with rigor and they had an out date (year of Jubilee. Strangers had no out date and was servants for for ever.

  • @thicky

    actually the curse of ham myth has its origins in the ancient babylonian talmud, which has its roots around 5th century when mixed jew groups were alienating themselves from their darker origins. so this wwas not even a general teaching among israelites in africa. this was the ones in europe... but it would make sense that mohammedans latch on to that cause mohammed was known for taking beliefs and customs from the groups around him and speaking it to his followers. so by the 9th century we see this sort of bias with africans and mohammedans. mohhamed took alot of teachings from afro hebraic(jew), fables, he aso took gnostic writings that he called christian and put in the koran. hence the fallacy in islam.

People Please read for yourself and don't be dazzled by smooth talking....This again shows the difference between Servants (Israelites that might work for you for whatever reason and Bondwoman and Men Slaves ...Pay close attention to Verse 44) ..Leviticus 25 : 39 And if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant: 40 But as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile: 41 And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return. 42 For they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen. 43 Thou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God. 44 Both thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.

      Context matters, brother. At 24:10 he was addressing a specific verse and said not takes slaves "for profit." Let's not misrepresent what's actually being said here and at the beginning of the video, we stressed context for each verse where slavery is mentioned and in some verses slave means servant, like Ephesians 6:5 where the Greek word doulos translates as slave, but means servant. Additionally, when you talk about curses you need to remember this: 1. Curses have expiration dates, typically 3-4 generations (Exo. 20:5). 2. God’s word says that disobedient based curses can be reversed when people repent (Exo. 20:6). We never said the bible doesn't address slavery, we said that you can read the Transatlantic Slave Trade into Ephesians 6 and verses in Exodus and Leviticus, because that (Ephesians) written well over 1000 years before the Middle Passage. You're making an argument from your assumptions and not from what and who we were addressing in this video, brother.
