The crap she endures sometimes can be incredibly cruel from both the sighted uneducated (the public and the educational system) and even her vision impaired clients. But in the end, she goes right back at it for over 20 years. She has trained hundreds of children and adults to become independent or less dependent with so many having life changing careers or lives with real skills. These professionals are true angels. Consider a career in these fields as there are very few and much needed. You will literally have a career for life--be that good or bad, the shortage is real. But the humanistic reward is great. 🙏

Very true! The real Annie Sullivan had to deal with Helen like this when she was only 7 yrs old (compared to Patty Duke, who was about 15 or 16 when they filmed this scene), although seeing it with a teenager in the role just shows you how much worse Annie would've had it if she hadn't started working with Helen until she was a teen.

Nilo Rac in my book, CGI is fine and dandy for things that really, truly could benefit from CGI. This doesn’t. This is just excellent acting. No script. No dialogue. It’s Jacob wrestling the angel. Just masterful.
