I've been thinking about La Granja ever since you mentioned it as an alternative to Glory to Rome (my perpetual #1). This edition just seems too big and too much, but maybe I'll finally just grab a cheap copy of the original
Just went and pledged for! :D I was waiting for your runthrough and final thoughts to make my final decision. Thanks for doing the solo (even without the automa) and using 3 modules. Had fun watching and got excited for it!
Of the new modules that you've played with so far, which of them (if any), will be must-include for you and Jen going forward?
the biggest ones would be the "60 new cards" pack, which is must have. also, there's 2 modules (colconchera and donkey song) that do more cool stuff with the siesta track, which is probably the least interesting thing about the base game, so i think i'd always use one of those two. and i haven't tried it, but i think i'll really dig outlaws as well as it makes the game more punishing, which i tend to appreciate :)

Thank you for pronouncing it right… so many CZcamsrs saying it wrong :( when you got google it just makes me sad.
well i'm ashamed to say when i filmed the original version 8 years ago, i mis pronounced it too. but i'm trying to do better these days :)
There is not one correct pronunciation. The Catalan language is also native to Mallorca and to my ear the j sounds quite similar to an English j.
Great final thoughts, as ever! I noticed that you removed the original La Granja from your 'list of games'. My question is what probably most of the other people are thinking: would this Deluxe Master Set with the additional content move the game higher up on your list?
(As an aside: La Granja was the first game we purchased based alone on your runhtrough and final thoughts. It is still in our top 10 games of all time. Massive thanks to you for all the work you do - you are probably not hearing this enough!)
yeah, it probably would push it up a bit. i've only played with 3 of the dozen or so modules, but they've all been great so far. and getting to mix and match 2 or 3 different ones every time you play... WOW!
I'm so on the fence with the KS! I'm a terrible person who thinks aethestics has a big part in games (obviously with gameplay being no.1) so that was the only thing putting me off from the original (which I do enjoy playing on BGA!), however the expense and more-so the size of the deluxe put me off slightly!
I wonder if they would do a similar thing to Bezier games - release a 2nd edition in a standard size with the kickstarter (Suburbia Collector's Edition in this case) version's artwork after the KS dust has settle.
A few days to contemplate a backing!
You Got the game and did the playthrough. I heard that you hoped for that in the r&r show
This came out when I owned La Granja but have not played it yet. I ended up playing it and like it but didn’t think I wanted to shell out for this huge deluxe set. It’s a shame though they won’t print the modules for the original game. Not sure what I think of that marketing mode. (Super deluxe is the only way to get expansions)
the game has a new publisher, so they don't have the rights to make an expansion for the original game...

if the prototype i've got is anything to go by, it's a biiiiig box, but so full of goodness :)
