I loved being a fly on the wall while Rosie and Adam geeked out about their retro PS collections. Podcasts have been on point lately! Great job guys 👏
Glad you enjoyed it!
Omg Rosie gave up her spot on the couch for a guest. What a class act
Does this mean that on the regular podcasts that Rosie is the de facto special guest? 🤔
@@BilCaesar pretty much! Rosie is a special guest, very deserving
not just the music, the STORY, the WORLD of Rule of Rose is unbeatable! i got it in France at a decent price when I was a teenager, so happy i did, one of my all-time favourite games 🌹
Man I really like you having developers on the show. Especially since you create such a great environment to just talk about freely about themselves at which point they themselves come to talk about what they like most about the games they are working on and the passion behind it. Much MUCH better than all those sensationalist coverages that all go shoot in the same direction. It was really nice to see Adam talk pretty much unfiltered about his take on horror games. Thanks Adam and thanks Team Access!^^
I realised on the train home that Neptune is the codename for the sharks in Resident Evil 1
Ha! That one was a bit tricky...
Absolutely! You check the projector in the labs and tells you all the names
Oh man, I really hope Crow Country is a good game, because I'm completely enamored with this Adam Vian guy after this podcast. He's chill, he's funny, he's thoughtful, and he's passionate about games. I wish him and his brother all the success in the world. Excellent episode, Access!
Really loving these interview podcasts.
I always love listening to devs, actors etc talking about the creative process they go through & how they get into the industry etc.
I feel like they’re genuinely educational & I hope it encourages people smarter than me to create amazing games & experiences in the future.
More of these please.
Thanks! We love talking to people in the know, too.
of course Dave "the boss" Jackson if off the podcast episode with horror on it.
Just been looking at Crow Country gameplay because Adam has sold it so well, and it looks god damn fantastic. Clock Tower 3 was a gem too. Roll on May 9th 👌
Speaking of jump scares, I remember in Fatal Frame (2?) I was in the attic in the dark. There was a hole in the ground and a beam of light coming out of it. I looked through the whole and you can just see the lit room underneath. As I was trying to look around through the tiny hole, then an eye suddenly appeared directly from the other side of the whole. It was a ghost in the ceiling in the room underneath me looking right back at me.
Decades past and I still remember that jump scare.
The Ace Attorney hint for Dino Crisis was because Shu Takumi (known for AA) had directed Dino Crisis 1 and 2.
Rob not knowing koudelka is wild 😅😊😊
A reference to the misadventures of tronn bonne that's absolutely amazing. I always remember being a kid and seeing the game at toys r us and wishing I had gotten my parents to get it cause I adore the megaman legend games and I love the bonne family.
I am genuinely so excited to play Crow Country, I think the PS1 and PS2 horror era was one that can never really be replicated and appreciate the style and feel of those games. 🖤
I don't play horror but found all this really fascinating!
It'll be neat to see a clip or two of the game if you play on the channel this week!
Have had to seek this vid out so I can comment, after listening on a long drive today to this and the previous Abubakar Salim Podcast. Both have been an absolute joy, and this is thanks in no small part to Rob's effortless and insightful interviewing skills - there is a real, infectious quality to his intrigue and he always seems to nudge things in the way I am hoping for things to go and keeps everyone totally at ease, Bravo!
Sidenote - I haven't owned or had use of a games console since leaving home (and the family PS3) a decade ago, yet have lived vicariously through you guys for most of the intervening years (with the result that I often baffle my gamer friends when I know anything more than vaguely about things in the gamersphere). Sometimes it feels mad, listening to chat about things I will likely never experience, but I am sure I will not be the only watching who does it purely for the entertainment, and, of course, the wicked office chemistry.
Digging the dev showcases in the last few episodes. Don't get me wrong, I love the crew talking to each other, but I really appreciate the guests recently.
I was nervous about this episode post-Ash, but between Rob's great questions, Rosie's enthusiasm, and Adam's charm, I think this is one of the greats. Thanks for a delightful episode. Loved the bag of weird PS1 games.
PlayStation need to bring back Siren. Like Resident Evil in third person with a VR option, the Sight Jack mechanic is perfect for VR.
Awesome interview. Great questions, and Adam was very generous in sharing his love for the genre and insights on the gaming development. I'm looking forward to play Crow Country! Thanks
Hearing Adam Speak about crow country makes me More hyped thn Before.
Gamers are the best, I feel so at home watching these podcasts.
Absolutely LOVED this podcast! This is my favorite episode by far. Adam was a great guest and I’m definitely gonna check out this game based on this podcast. Thanks again for doing this episode.
My favorite modern horror trope is giving you a way to fight back, and then taking it away (alien isolation flamethrower for eg) no matter how scarey a game is after a while youll get acustomed to it, taking away something you come to rely on is a greatvwaynof putting you right back in that first fee hours terror.
These recent interview podcasts have been VERY interesting
I love that he's talking about Rule of Rose and Haunting Ground.
52: 20 Galerians! Now that's a blast from the past. I did not only play the game, but I finished it and its sequel.
Good times.
I'd just like to say that I'm really looking forward to Dave jumping into PSVR2 and playing Madison! It's gonna be the most entertaining video ever!
The light in Rosie’s eyes when she’s talking about her games collection ❤️
I’m so happy this podcast is around, it’s such fun to listen to.
Alien Isolation by Creative Assembly is one of the great survival horror games. Not only is the space station that the game takes place on is very memorable. Also the xenomorph is a very intimidating threat that you can't kill. You can only make it go away temporarily. The creature also starts displaying new behaviours as you make progress.
Finally someone else who played Koudelka! Was a great game and didn’t do nearly as well as it deserved at the time.
I got into these podcasts recently, I really enjoy them, in fact, last week's podcast inspired me to play Tales of Kenzera: Zau, I thoroughly enjoyed that game and earned the platinum trophy. Rob should definitely attempt to get the platinum and maybe make it a future platinum stream/vod 🤷🏾♂️
Pretty sure MGS1 still has the best voice acting on PS1 but I'm intrigued how close that one was. Will have to try to find it somewhere.
Woah super flash bros like decline of video gaming I used to watch in college I recognised your voice from it! So good that you're making games! It inspired me so much to create games myself
I still have my copies of RE1 directors cut, RE2 Dino Crisis 2 and a game i LOVED called Heart of Darkness
I'm not so much for survival in horror games but rather all about the eerie atmosphere and anticipation in those games (even if in the end nothing ever happens).
Had a good example for this - The Town of Light. It's just a walking simulator, nothing will happen to you, yet the eerie feeling of exploring the grounds of an old abandoned insane asylum and the (real life) horrors that once happened in there made it worth it.
I also watched a playthrough of Amnesia The Dark Descent and the one I watched somehow managed to never actually see one of the monsters. They might have come close a few times but he either was in hiding and avoiding to look at them or he was running from them and never turned around. So until the very end we never saw what the monsters looked like - they always could only be heard somewhere, maybe seen as silhouettes moving around, and that mystery around them made the whole game so much creepier. Actually seeing one of them at the very end was a huge disappointment though. I did watch the game again, once with a different CZcamsr and once with the same guy I watched it the first time around. However with that eerie mystery gone the game was just a bit boring and the only thing that kept me watching was the commentary.
A mod like that for Silent Hill sounds perfect for me. I just want to enjoy the eerie atmosphere without the annoying survival part. And it also sounds like the biggest selling point of Crow Country to me right now.
This has been one of my favourite podcasts, I’ve been eagerly awaiting Crow Country and I love all things surviving horror 🤩
*survival 👁️ 👄 👁️
What a lovely start to Saturday (Despite the talk of horror 😂)
Koudelka ❤ Love the sequel games of this, Shadow Hearts Covenant is my favourite game of all time ❤
Alisa definitely the best indie survivor horror out there. Can't wait for Jean DLC.
21:08 Honestly Rob, you're such a fantastic interviewer for these kind of intensive interview where you let your guest speak and then taylor a follow up question to what he said. Just love to see it.^^
I am a regular Spotify listener since the pre-pilot episode. This PS1 games made me jump to the youtube version
Raccoon city in re3 nemesis 99 was my favorite setting.
Hopefully more devs take the no combat approach. The art, sound and world building is a big part of horror games. But when your fighting and running you miss a lot of the world. So having both ways is such a smart choice. Adds another play through if you love both styles.
We had Vampire Hunter D when I was a kid but i never played it.
Galerians AND Koudelka mentioned?!? 🙌
Love horror games!😱
Galerians! Yes. Absolutely excellent game. At the time it felt to me like a cross between FF and Resi. I stumbled across it on a shelf in Xtra-Vision one summer waaaay back in the day.
I've been meaning to play it again for years.
Please give us a physical copy of crow country!!!
Miss Ash 🥹
I love horror games. Watching people play horror games not playing horror games!
To answer your guys confusion on the clue "Neptune" for resident evil 1, its referencing to the name of the sharks in the aquarium. Umbrella classified them as the neptune line.
When I jump from the audio to the video and I think "Rob is looking and sounding off this time" and then it hit me.
Great interview from all of you
My first horror game I actually got my hands on to play instead of watching someone else play was Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly. I never beat it because I was too scared to play past the broken neck woman. I could probably do it now that I've grown up, but choose not to. To preserve the horror magic it has. Although I still have mine, and have no intention of parting ways with it. I decided to look it up online. Would you believe for an opened copy it costs about $600 USD, and for a sealed copy it costs upwards of $2,000 USD.
Koudelka is a fantastic game
Resident Evil I, Neptune are the sharks.
Can't wait for robs brother to come back along with his other brother tom
What makes for a perfect horror game? Madison in VR 👌👌👌 I've never played anything like it
Does anyone know if it's coming to PS4? The demo was only playable on ps5
A PODCAST episode about HORROR? It's too soon
Time to rip the plaster off. 💔
I miss ash so much
That’s what I thought 🫢
Awesome
I somehow hadn't heard of this game. Day one purchase. 👏
Hi Rob, I hope you're reading this because I saw your video on the hardest trophies.
I decided to go for my 1st Platinum.
I got it for ALIEN ISOLATION!
I'd like to say thank you for making the video & for an incredible gaming experience.
This game/Platinum was TERRIFYING & fun, which I don't regret.
Vr makes horror and psvr2 has the best haptics and blacks , amazing for horror. Madison vr has damaged me.
53:25 can some help me spell that video game ? I can’t see the title
Koudelka
Without a doubt, one of the best podcast episodes so far. Really found this one interesting, enlightening and the enthusiasm shone through. Couldn't stop listening to the breakdown into the granular detail of what makes this genre so effective!
YESSSS PARASITE EVE!!!! Squenix needs to revive this IP!!!!
I turned this on while my glasses were off and i couldn't figure out which one was Rob.
Ah Chaos Break I remember that game I never thought I'd hear that title again
Love all the interesting questions. The idea of a game that has a mode to disable enemies is so cool. As someone who never plays horror games, I’m super intrigued to check out crows country!
I love Rob! 🙌
I’m playing Madison VR at the moment. Scariest game ever! 💩💩💩😳🤣🤣🤣
Rob saying he hasn't been stuck on a game when we've all seen him and the Tower Knight
I miss Ash.
Geez I just posted the same thing without looking.
Same. :)
Did he say fleshlight & rusty pipe? 😅
Early babyyyy
I still miss Ash
Adam sounds like he has the same accent as Nathan? 🤔
I miss Ash 😢
Me too, especially on the podcast. :(
Played “The Misadventures of Tron Bonne”!
But never managed to finish Megaman Legends 2. 😅
