    is this motor shield can run 4 dc motors ? I do not quite understand that part

    • @zzzzzz...9902
      @zzzzzz...9902 Před 7 lety

      yes, 4 can cause you have 5 places on each end for total of 10. For dc motors, you have 2 wires, one for each place, and 4x2=8. You have 10, so yep it can do it. It cant do 5 because then it would have 1 wire on each end of the 5th motor, it has to be on same end for both wires on a motor.

    You talk about stacking as if that somehow expands the Arduino pinout: it doesn't. And this shield uses 4 pins per stepper, leaving only D2, D13 and the analogue pins unused. There's nothing left for any other function. A shield that uses a proper stepper driver requires only 2 pins (step and direction) per stepper, so it could drive twice as many steppers from the same number of Arduino pins, and if it only had two drivers per shield then one other shield could be stacked to get 4 drivers (but they usually come with 4 drivers per shield, so stacking is not needed).
    Also, the shield has just one configurable component (a jumper) which is very important to get right, but you don't mention it!
