I believe is after Greene was looking to challenge Johnson at 200m for the Sydney Olympics in 2000, that’s when the rivalry was born. Greene came into 2000 as the world champ over 60 to 200m, with the 100m world record. MJ was the Olympic Champ over 200m and 400m (along with being world champ) and was the record holder over both distances. Their egos got the better of each other
