This scene just knocks me for a loop. Jimmy Stewart's awe, the little boy, the blind grandfather, the elderly black man and Dimitri Tiomkin's strings just brings me to tears every time.
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Democracy is the greatest concept ever created by the human race. Of the people, for the people and by the people. God bless this nation always.
@2:55 One thing to keep in mind about this scene is that since this movie was filmed in 1939, the elderly gentleman at the Lincoln Memorial might very well have been born into slavery, in fact he might even have a living memory of Lincoln.
With what happened in our nation's capital today, this is such a stark reminder of what our nation is really about. Not the seditionists who tried to bring her down. I love this country for all its good and bad.

I was not aware he was blind.
I cry everytime
Makes me cry 2!

That's beauty right there!
Everyone in their ability should go to Washington- a truly magical town
This is my favorite part of the movie. Looks so much like the kind of montages that Einsenstein did.
We need this in high definition!
Best scene

We shan't soon forget the tragedy of 1/6.
Beautiful shot at 1:55-2:05.
