This is weird but at 9:10 the pass at the end of that climb looks staged to me. Why did the two racers in front slow down so much and just open up a huge line for that third racer to take the lead position? Am I being silly or is there something weird here?
It’s advantageous to have another rider lead. Less energy.
@@gargamel3966 I understand that strategy but only to a point. They both almost came to a stop which imo requires more energy to get going again.

It’s gamesmanship. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. If you can save some energy in the draft and are equal you will typically be able to pass in the sprint. Depends on the course, your opponent, etc. my bet is she was thinking save some energy but the only way we’d know for sure is to ask her.
