- I made the first version of my foldable coat hanger on a Glowforge Pro. And a scaled version of my puzzle table. And my dog chair. And a plethora of presents for the people I love. Honestly I'm not sure if there's a project that I've made that hasn't had at least one iteration or part go through my laser cutter.

The tiny home community is going to swiftly decide this product is indispensable.
Or people in high density inner city apartments with 300 ft² between bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom.
Until you see the price...
People with limited space simply don't hang clothes like that. It makes zero sense to hang a shirt and give it a crease down the middle lmao

"I love the way it feels to be a hater
Something so sweet about thinking that I'm better
Just to wake up every morning
Lay in bed and somehow never, ever rise to the occasion
Or even hold up under pressure
But we all know that it doesn't even matter
If I waste away and no one thinks I'm clever
Just as long I've got my ego
And it tells me I'm superior
I could probably go a lifetime
Being barely mediocre
I'd still convince myself every time that I'm better
And when I'm ninety-nine and wasted time
And you lived out a happy life
I still will have the peace of mind
To know if I wanted to try
I could have left you all behind
I could've crossed the finish line
But I'd rather be dissatisfied
With everything you do and I
Would rather sit and criticize
Or watching from the sidelines
'Cause I know no matter what you do, or what I don't do
My pride will always comfort me
Telling me that I'm better than you"
@@moonbeamstry5321 well now we see how you handle valid criticism, you type out multiple paragraphs talking about haters like a 16yr old 😂
That corkscrew analogy is gold
Like the hermeneutical spiral
Yeah it’s great - I’m going to use corkscrew at work for sure.

One thing she said has stuck with me for years. 'If you want to be top of your field, choose a very small field.' Now I go around telling people I'm the best maker of doll clothes in my (small, country) town. It does wonders for my confidence.
You should post videos about it 😅
But, how many doll scarves does a person really need?
@@Kineth1when my fingers get cold, I need 10
@@Kineth1 A heck of a lot
I was once told I'm the best worship keyboardist in [my small county]... I of course immediately dismissed it as flattery but by this logic he may have been right 😅
Simone, you should consider trying to market this out to sailing/cruising people. I for one would love to have these coat hanger for the limited space in my hanging locker onboard.
I was thinking the same thing for the RV community. It also might help keep things on the hanger while jostling down the road.
I believe she actually used to live on a boat herself.
There’s a kickstarter. You can buy these hangers for yourself and help her expand the reach of the product.
YES
She lived on a boat for quite some time. I’m sure she already is. That’s probably one of the main reasons she made it. You ain’t gonna teach Simone nothing I assure you of that.
"The one tool I couldn't live without"
I was expecting her to say something simple like a pair of pliers, an adjustable wrench, or a tape measure. Nope. Simone can't live without a laser cutter.
It's because its a paid promotion mate.
Because this isnt a normal video, its a no-so-cleverly disguised ad
It isn't disguised tho, it literally says includes paid promotion in the bottom left. Apparently no one can read@@dbsagacious
@@dbsagacious It's not disguised at all. It clearly says 'Includes paid promotion'.
Nah, then nobody would pay her for this fake content.
The time lapse of all the prototypes was really good. I honestly love the idea of a foldable hanger!
TIL that your last name is not pronounced "gerts." youve been one of my favorite creators on this platform for years and growing with you has been a privilege. keep doing what youre doing, you amazing beam of light!
Yeah, that's weird. She did Colbert (Letterman?) years ago and I'd swear they said "gerts".
@@buckosoft What she's saying is essentially the same thing, it's just closer to the intended accent. As with many people's surnames, their family's pronunciation often deviates across time due to different influences or motivations (often regarding the communities they choose to settle and fit in across time).
It _is_ likely to be similar to "G-ier-tz", and you can literally blend the two versions yourself and see how similar they are if you had slightly different speech influences, especially if you make the "g" very, very short. A blend that evokes influences of both origins would be similar to "gyiertzch"
I remember laughing to the hand alarm one when I was fucking 12, I thought it was a joke. Now 10 years later I see this and it's awesome

The CoatHinger is going to solve my "why is my apartment so damn small" issue. Thank you so much for coming up with this, I can't wait to get some
Why hang your clothes if you're just creasing the middle anyways?
@@baconscoobysnacks3135 A loose, hanging curve will not create a crease like folding and stacking multiple items in a drawer would. You are extremely dim if you can't comprehend something so simple. Go whine somewhere else.
@@baconscoobysnacks3135 cause i don't have a dresser and i honestly couldn't care less about wrinkles

I do not see the point with this hanger, it will take up at least the double space than a space saving hanger.
It looks nice though! 😊
A.. foldable.... what???

You just changed the world haha
That's genius!
Definitely one of those "why didn't I think of that??" things
It seems so obvious after you see it the first time.
Simone you started out in the best way possible. You found out how to enjoy engineering. Burnout is the cancer of any creative or mathematic job and you overcame both of those. Your products are fantastic and thank you for taking me on that journey. Been following you for years now
She also overcame literal cancer
@@DiThi of course
Please for the love of god take this to the RV and Coach builders show. You will be millions in monthly sales
A very clever invention! It makes you wonder why someone did not come up with this 100 years ago!
It's been so much fun watching your creations over the years. The relatable comic relief of the development process is pure gold.
I would also like to add to that list one: "Super Awesome Person" as well too! 😊
Refreshing. A beautiful woman using her God given talent to move people forward. So nice.
This is a very well produce and detail packed instructional. My favorite part is the flash over shots of the progression of proto type hangers that solidified your 'cork screw' idea.
Well done! I wish you continued success with your inventing.
That’s genius! I have a long, skinny closet that is too narrow to comfortably hang my shirts. I can’t believe this hasn’t been an invention at any point in the last 150 years. I hope this one simple idea makes you billions. Cheers!
Well sadly this woman was fighting for her life against a brain tumor all this time, and this is 1 of her first videos back. Hopefully, she will be making more inventions soon!
Why do you think foldable coat hangers are better than simply hanging your coat hangers at an angle? I'd say 90% of coat hangers have a swiveling hook, which seems better than having an asymmetrical fold at the back of your attire.
@@DoubleBob Well its a solution for a problem, but if you don't have this problem, then its just a worse version of something that we have now. You can fold it, and its better than nothing... but its also off balance and without a wall behind it for support, it creates way more fold on your clothes than you would have by simply folding it by hand.
@@imjustapotatoleavemealone I don't agree that the problem exists as regular hangers can be hung at an angle due to the swivel.
@@DoubleBob Yeah, and it will be a nightmare to take out clothes, and you lose much horizontal space.
Genius! Nice to see the progression from "Queen of Shitty Robots" to "Actual Product Designer"
You consider a foldable hanger as actual product designing lmao
@@baconscoobysnacks3135Yes
Why are you being so crabby lol I’ve seen you being rude under multiple posts for no reason. Seems like a waste of energy if you ask me - which you didn’t - but here we are anyways.
@@katieburgess6292 yea it's a waste of energy but you're replying to me without even a shred of an argument lmao just fuckin log off you burnt out your last braincell
@@baconscoobysnacks3135 Being an actual product designer: Step 1, design a product. Any product at all counts no matter how simple, common or unoriginal. Step 2, for extra success points do something novel and or useful. Step 3, you're done. You're a product designer.
What exactly hasn't she done there cranky pants?
Yknow, I may not like Glowforge for the dumb internet thing, but I can be happy for Simone to get paid to talk about something she gets a ton of use out of. I really like the laser cutter I have available at my makerspace bc of the same reason as her. Being able to hold a physical prototype in my hands is helpful for the project.
I don't like glowforge because it's basically a scam.
Any one part breaks, and they demand that you send the entire machine back to them for fuckloads of money, so they can fix it for fuckloads of money, and then they don't even send you your machine. They just send you some other refurbished machine that had already broken for somebody else.
It's such utter bullshit.
Instead of, you know, just making a machine where if a part breaks you can order the part and fix it.
Love you, Simone! Thanks for your contributions to the field of design and engineering
❤❤❤
That's a great quote about the cork screw.
I like how you call yourself an inventor. When I was a kid, I wanted to be an inventor as well but my teacher said that the inventions I came up with were neither creative nor useful. My inventions were a lot like your robots but then with less unconventional effects, so if you're an inventor that proves that 9-year old me could also have been an inventor
Love your coat hanger! Your humor is awesome - paint thrown in your face and the head pummeling machine. thanks for sharing!
Brilliant woman!
We love your creativity and innovation! ♥️
You Rock !! Glad to see others INVENTING !! Solving problems !!
Good Luck !!
A remarkable woman. I totally get the need for a physical sample of the idea.
Simple elegant solution. Brilliant.
It's sad yet inspiring to see how many things are being developed because people are being forced to live in such tiny spaces.
So much of creating is in fact problem-solving and iteration. I squealed with glee when your video showed several attempts at the solution.
We LOVE your engineering brain, Sim 👌🤙🤟🙏💪👍🇦🇺
So happy to see you striving again. After you ordeals with all the surgeries ❤
Seemingly out of nowhere, a superbly positive, comical, thought provoking and entertaining video. Love it!
