How many times did Brock extend plays what he just said makes no sense… all his teammates were in awe of how well he does extend plays, I feel like there’s some grasping for straws, to play favorite. I like them both, i really think they both have great potential, I want whoever plays to win. Plain and simple. Who ever isn’t winning, then it needs changed next season. Take your emotions out of it, and the fact that you paid so much for Lance. That doesn’t matter anymore. Thank you Kay. Lol some sense.
Don't ignore or overlook that Brock got sacked for losses a lot. Brock is quick but not fast. His 10-yard split is very quick, so he has a very high "escape velocity" out of the pocket - and can extend plays due to that ability. But after he escapes, if he doesn't get rid of the ball right away, he is often chased down and tackled for losses. His first few steps are lightening quick but he doesn't have a high top speed. There was one game where I think he was chased and tackled a number of times behind the line, totaling more than 40 yards that needed to be made up. (Jimmy was tied for the fewest sacks and fewest yards lost, due to him just getting rid of the ball before getting sacked. This is one reason Brock wasn't able to match Jimmy's efficiency stats: Brock had more big plays than Jimmy, but also more plays that lost yards - overall more volatile and erratic progress down the field and less consistent and reliably moving the ball downfield.) Brock is sort of the exact opposite of Colin Kaepernick, who was initially slow escaping out of the pocket, but once those long legs started moving after 4 or 5 steps, he was like a giraffe with that super long stride, and uncatchable.
Shanahan is where Andy Reid was at one point. Kyle just needs the right QB to get over the hump. Purdy is the man. He's the it factor

Maybe shannahan always starts slow because he loses most of his coaches every year and it takes time for coaching to take hold that's how you know a good coach for me is the teams that consistently play better as the year goes on when coaching has had more time to take

Rob the reason why Shanahan loves Purdy is because he runs his offense the way Kyle likes it. it's not just the winglike with Jimmy, and Purdy also can make plays off schedule
Not entirely true. There were many times that Purdy didn’t follow Kyle’s directions.

Purdy has already played better than both Tannehil and Carr. Highest rated passer in the NFL last year, and that doesn’t even begin to tell the story when you look at his film. His film screams of a Montana/Brady ceiling. Learn some football and dissect his film, you will see what I’m talking about.

@@thedelondusshow the problem is you’re trying to evaluate QB talent by comparing stats, which fans tend to do. With Purdy all you have to do is turn on the tape and if you understand football and know what you are looking at, the film is phenomenal.

There's this narrative out there that the players(Kittle,Juz,Fred, etc) can sway Kyle's decision as who to plays Qb is troubling to me. If this is narrative turns out to be true. Kyle & Jihn need to be fired. Kyle needs to remind those players that they are just player. Not evaluators or decision makers. And who they think should play is meaningless. So the next time, they are asked who the starting Qb should be. The response should be, "It's not up to me, Kyle makes that decision."

How do we say Trey could be better?… how do we “look past what Brock did?” …because Brock came into an offense that was finally clicking and he had ALL their offensive weapons healthy. (Deebo got hurt 2 games later) but Trey never had CMC or Kittle. And Deebo was hurt and working back from being out of shape in the off season.

Why does Stats make Purdy sound so bad. He makes it sound like Lance just provides this massive upside because of his athleticism and ability to keep a play alive…when we literally saw Purdy have solid mobility and keep plays alive multiple times and make some great plays in those situations. Yes Lance has more “upside” but Purdy is the version of Jimmy they wanted. A game manager with enough mobility and the ability to make plays and keep them in games and execute properly.
I know Stats is a Trey guy and hated Jimmy, but he is displaying same blind faith he so often accused and bashed the fanbase and team of having with Jimmy but does it with Lance and acts like nothing is wrong.

@@thedelondusshow I don’t think Purdy is an MVP caliber QB, anyone thinking he is the next Mahomes or Burrow are just fooling themselves. He is good, but he isn’t great talent wise. But you also don’t have to be a great talent to be a great QB. The two QBs most associated with “Goat” are Brady and Montana and they weren’t these “OMG Amazing Godly” talents. But they knew how to execute and win. I’m also not saying Purdy is Montana or Brady before you get going lmao.
But Purdy has shown to be more efficient in this offense then Jimmy or Lance have shown so far and that can’t just be discredited because Trey was drafted 3rd overall or is a better athlete. Athleticism doesn’t always equate to success in NFL. And if you look at history most of the Super Bowl winning QBs were more game managers then record/stat breakers. I’d rather have a consistent above average game manager QB with a stacked team then a star athlete record breaking QB with subpar team. But knowing our luck won’t matter cause none of our QBs can stay healthy lol

If anyone gave up in that championship loss it’s the defense, completely unacceptable amount of penalties and half assed effort. I'm only 12 minutes in, and I feel I need to interject my thoughts.
You've seen what a nightmare it has become trading for Aaron Rodgers. Lynch/Shanahan do not want that level of locker room uncertainty. The Packers should have traded Rodgers last year to Denver for the package Seattle got. But that's something else. Lynch/Shanahan want a locker full of guys who love football. Rodgers hasn't played in preseason games for the past few years. I wonder if they think the price to get him is worth where they value his love of the game is. I heard Jimmy G keeps his phone off in the off season. I'm pretty sure that drove Kyle crazy, not being able to share ideas heading into next season. I bet that's a big factor into why they let him walk.
Enough of the 8 passes in the NFC championship. Their run game was DOMINANT over the Packers in that game. Jimmy proved he could win in a pass happy game earlier that year vs NO in that shootout. He missed the pass to Sanders in the Super Bowl, and if Tartt caught he Stafford gimme, who knows.
As far as Kyle's ability as a leader of men, I don't know of another coach who has created such a solid foundation across the board WHILE still trying to solve the QB position. The team Lynch/Shanahan inherited from Chip Kelly was bad. There were a few foundational pieces that helped the rebuild (Staley, Ward, Tartt, Armstead, and perhaps others I am forgetting), and while not every free agent signing (Dee Ford, Jerrick McKinnon) nor draft pick has hit (too many to list, a bit too painful as well), but they have excelled at crafting a highly talented roster. If a few things go their way, (and I see you, future injuries!!) who knows. They seem to have hit a level of consistancy franchises crave.
I wonder if they thought Rodgers was team first enough for them. He notoriously calls a pass, overturning the designed run called. Even if Aaron was correct, that would destroy how Kyle calls plays, setting an opponent up the way he does.
Side note, something nobody is talking about, Baltimore fired OC Greg Roman. If they thought Lamar Jackson, who they have tried to resign for two years, was going to be on their roster next year, why would they do that??
I think they know Lamar won't sign their offer sheet, and are planning for a season while he sits out, hoping to get the big guaranteed contract the year after. Baltimore wants to keep his stock high, so they can't say this, but talented or not, as injury prone his style has been, they can't win with him if he's injured, so why bother signing him? You hope someone offers him something and they can get the two 1st round picks, and can rebuild. They are in a very competitive division with Watson and Burrow, and whatever team the Steelers field will compete at a high level. There are no easy divisional wins here.
Anyway. Just my thoughts.

True, but Purdy inherited a mature and healthy Championship-bound team, honed for a number of games by Kyle & Jimmy and then handed to Brock on a silver platter. I do agree that if Trey was dropped into that same situation he would not have played as well as Brock. Brock just has more poise and more accuracy. Trey just doesn't have the consistent throwing mechanics to be consistently and reliably accurate... yet. IF (and it's a big if) Trey makes solid progress on his throwing mechanics and accuracy this summer THEN that could unleash those other high-ceiling potential talents. This is the question. Where will Trey be at late in the summer when Brock is healthy (assuming Brock will have a good recovery)?
If Aaron or Tom was really interested in winning another ring they would have vocalized it more and given them the "hometown" discount! And Jimmy is just an all around good guy who hasn't played well enough at the right time!
Just call the same plays you did for Lance as you did for Purdy. No qb dives for Lance. Simple.

Everyone just looks at athletes upside but they don’t look at their intelligence and ability to process plays. I’m tired of hearing 9ers fans hanging on hope of Trey’s upside. I appreciate your opinion. But you mentioned intelligent and processing as if Trey does not possess those. He is a player who had a scholarship to an Ivy League school also possesses one of the highest cognitive player testing ever on record. This isn't to dismiss anything Brock has but you cannot dismiss what Trey brings to the table from intellect processing and athleticism either
Ok I’m not talking about text book intelligence here. Trey’s got enough time in the league to show if he’s capable. Brock came in and excelled immediately. Despite the lack of arm strength, Brock was good because he can process plays on the field. I don’t care about his physical abilities. That has been proven way overrated in a quarterback skill set. I also don’t want to hear the injury excuses with Trey Lance because if he can’t show it in practice than he’s not good enough. I’m not saying he won’t ever will be, but our superbowl window is short right now. We don’t have time to wait for a guy to develop. I blame the front office for drafting him because it’s idiotic to develop a quarterback while you’re in a superbowl window. If they would of simply gotten Rodgers or Brady while they had plenty of chance, we would of gotten a championship by now. No doubt in my mind.

I completely agree. How quickly we forget about all of the QBs that stunk up the joint when Jimmy was injured. Even Josh, who had a respectable 91 rating before coming to the Niners looked impotent in the Championship game. JG and BP are just good players who also happened to be in a good system.

Brock Purdy might not be as fast, but Brock can extend plays. We have seen very little from Trey yet. How many football games has Trey played in the last five years? I think we should give Trey a chance to compete for the job, but so should Darnold. But Brock Purdy is the number 1. Brock Purdy has played a lot more football. Sam Darnold has played a lot more football. PS He waited forty days because he was able to avoid Tommy John.
Agree. Not sure all these experts and fans miss how well Brock played and that he extended plays. He had long throws too. Lance has not passed the eye test. Trey has not shown the instincts. There is a reason why the locker room was never behind him. They practiced with Trey. They saw what was missing. Trey’s throwing motion and how long he takes to throw the ball is horrible. I hope he can change it but Purdy was just different. Hopefully Trey proves me wrong but I don’t think he is it. I am not even sure he will be better than Darnold this year. He will get to play because they have to let him play even if he looks bad in practice and Darnold beats him. It is the right move to let him start till Purdy is back even if the niners drop some games.

Trey's issues of processing, accuracy, and speed can't all be false. The team loves Brock. He has that it factor that is rare. The higher draft choice doesn’t guarantee the best player.

They literally tried to trade for Rodgers before they draft Trey. There coach apparently stopped talking to Shanny for trying to trade for Rodgers. So it sounds like that's a non starter. They probably prefer to trade him out the conference.
This team is built to win now. There’s no more time for development of any QB. We need a QB who can make it through a whole season and get us to the promise land.

We already know what Tre can do - he doesn't have it. He doesn't have what you can't teach - pocket presence and game awareness. Plus he is inaccurate - that can't be fixed either. Lots of QBs with cannon arms have flamed out in the NFL - add Tre to that list.

Aaron Rodgers is a TERRIBLE idea. Dude is 39 years old and had one of his worst seasons. We would have to trade key players which would weaken our team for a guy that sucks in the playoffs. Plus, we don’t know if he will go on a hike and never return.

I think Kay has a problem with Brady because she listened for years with his wide receiver that was lucky enough to catch passes with or from Brady. Actually I think they went toghether. Trey Lance just kinda like isn’t good
Trey gets the bulk of prep in training camps and preseason games rep, he will be super ready in regular season game 1. Bet Brock and Trey the more healthy person should start. Trey will do well.

Basically, Purdy should start, Sam should be the backup, and Trey should be traded after he is groomed to look great during the preseason. Trey is very talented, but he needs to do a Hurts-like offseason transformation to realize that potential. With a 38 Wonderlic, he's smart enough, but it will take hella work. If healthy, the team would revolt if Purdy is benched just to see what Trey can do in the regular season. I think that Trey has franchise ability, but he's presently in a tough situation.
Kay is entitled to her opinion. But, her opinion is off. Purdy is not the answer

Amazing how all lance fans have purdy doubts but yet they will ignore 50% lance completion and balls flying over head, one big difference between lance vs Purdy under center play action purdy can ready defense faster lance after his first read he’s out.

The difference is Purdy put in time to learn the offense and had confidence in the plan and himself. Trey has neither at this point. I hope he is a great QB, but I haven't seen it yet.
