    Michael Bloodgood was the bassist. David Zaffiro was the guitarist on this album.

    Mortification did a fantastic live cover of this song in the nineties. That was actually my first exposure to bloodgood.

    I loved this album from Bloodgood. I remember being in High School when that album came out and I would plug in my guitar and crank up the volume and play along with it. I wasn't great ar playing lead guitar back then but I had all the rhythm guitar parts down. Good times!

    Yes, the bass was low but it was my first introduction to very fast Christ music. I’d play, hit rewind, play again!!
    The I went to my first hard rock-punk Christian concert in Ohio. An obscure band called TORN FLESH. I’m hooked! More metal!
    They were signed with their best song ‘Crux of the Mosh’. About the torn flesh of Jesus

      Wow. Haven't heard Torn Flesh referenced in quite some time! I had their cassette and maybe even a cd version of that album. Not sure whatever happened to them.

      I heard their song ‘crux of the Mosh’ on a compilation. Then I got the album when I went to their show. They were near our hometown.

    First heard Bloodgood in 1986 on a local college station. Friday or Saturday night they played some heavier "Christian" music. Saw them on the Detonation tour with Messiah Prophet at the local KC Opry. The first two (this one and "Detonation") are straight ahead metal...and then something happened with Rock in a Hard Place, nothing remotely similar to the first 2 releases. I still listen to their first 2 to this day.

    • @4themusicman
      @4themusicman Před 2 měsíci

      My introduction was Detonation and then went backwards. You are correct. First two are straight up bangers. RIAHP was a step down IMO. The band must've been listening to Ambrosia during the recording sessions. Haha.

    Got another one for ya Shane. Looks like you haven't done Arch Enemy in awhile. But here is one from a few years ago on 'Deceivers' called The Watcher. Time for some face melting.

    Michael Bloodgood (rip) is on bass. I so wish these earlier Bloodgood records had some better mixing/recording. One of like 3 xian bands I can actually still listen to anymore.

    As for the sound, this is typical of Christian rock back in those days. The 'tin can' effect was real. But at the time, we were just excited to have some rockin' heavenly metal that we excused those poorly-sounding albums. My intro to Bloodgood was the next album, Detonation. But this one had some good tunes on it. It took me awhile to tolerate this band. I didn't think Les Carlsen had that great of a voice. But he grew on me and honestly, I attribute that to the songs being good to listen to.

    I agree with you that I felt something was missing....this just sounded FLAT to me. I was otherwise on the fence...didn't love it; didn't hate it....not sure if a better mix would make much difference....

      Typical Christian recording back then. Sounds like a tin can.

    “He is the black snake of rebellion…”. Yeah, this sounds thin. You should always use the original versions of songs in my experience. Go check out the original song. This song’s snake is coiled up when it should have more of a bite. God bless and Metal on!

    I remember buying this album back in 1986 and it sounded Waaay better through my boombox back then no comparison at all ...this is suppose to be remastered and I call bull...sounds way to thin on every level...Great song but sad on the audio today...makes mono sound deep and Heavy

    It's missing the genius that was Michael Bloodgood on bass. This album from front to end is fantastic. David Zaffiro on guitar is great. To me the band lost some of their punch when David left the band.
