Best thing about this: Post race Brad walked up to the 9 crew and shook every crew members hand. Saying how great of a race it was and how he respects Marcus for not just dumping him and having a great race.
Well, he's well experienced with heavy long-wheelbase v8 race cars. I hope to see more Australian racers come to Nascar because it makes for great road course racing.
@@rydoggo You Americans would absolutely love to see our Shane van Gisbergen or Scott McLaughlin race your cars at Watkins Glen. Those two alone, without disrespect, would absolutely demolish any current NASCAR driver on that track. Respectfully. You guys would love them both. They got highlight reels for days. Scottys up there in America now. Racing Indycar now. Watch his onboard from last weekend. Absolutely wicked masters of road course racing
@@lesblase3667 well Marcus Ambrose didn’t even “demolish” and nascar driver on this track. We had two f1 drivers and Jordan Taylor race in our last road race, they finished 18,24, and 29. Nascar drivers are beating them at their own racing 😭😭
2003 at Darlington was the best finish in NASCAR history....until this. I used to sleep thorough the majority of road course races in the years prior to this. I’m very glad I didn’t miss this live though. My driver wasn’t even in the mix and this is the most edge of my seat excited I can ever remember being watching a final lap. It was a real treat to be a NASCAR fan on this day.
Every time someone asks me why I like Nascar I come back to this finish. Yeah it sucks my boy the 18 got spun, but MAH GAWD what a finish. Its impressive on ovals, but even more impressive when these guys get up on the wheel like that on a road course.
Josef Stalin Kyle didint have a problem. All 3 were slipping in oil from the 47 who blew up with 2 to go. So if Kyle came up or came down. Brad Wouldive slid intok him anyways. Nobody's fault there
I'm convinced neither driver held a straight line for that entire last lap. So badass, insane hp, shot tires and full commitment. Both drivers raced hard, but clean. That was the best finish of a cup race to date in my opinion.
With Shane Van Ginsbergen winning Chicago and now in tomorrow's race at Indy, I'm here reliving some classic Ambrose. Shane reminds me a lot of Marcos, and I'm lookin forward to him coming to nascar. I just wish Ambrose had more of a chance to drive in top equipment, I think he'd have a few more wins
Agile glorified tanks on quick road courses is nascar's wheelhouse outside of short tracks. Glad they've finally got the memo with next season. Can't wait
THIS is why NASCAR road racing is some of the best road racing on the planet - low downforce, big heavy cars, mediocre brakes, tall hard(compared to real road racing ones) tires, doesn't get much more fun than that
Marcus was Def one of the top road course drivers don't see much banging like that anymore 😒 just hearing him slide the car with complete throttle control high hp shot tires
I'm sorry but I've been watching nascar since the 2000s. I seriously don't understand how people didn't love the gen 5 car. Even in the middle of it all when everybody hated it I never saw it. Had great racing, wasn't entirely dependent on aerodynamics, and it was a driver's car. I wish nascar fans knew what they wanted because it feels like they hate something, Nascar changes whatever they hate, and then nascar fans are upset that nascar changed what they hated. The death of nascar won't be because of its terrible point system or the playoffs. It's going to be the fans because they don't actually know what they want from the product
) Besides being a great stearer Maybe the only driver in the field who has perfect heal and toe method down shifting under brakes wile just about everybody else was left foot braking a habit developed in oval racing. All v8 supercar drivers are master's at heal and toe..
The reason why everyone was driving so bad on the last lap was because there was Oil on the track, I forgot who it was who was leaking fluid but there was oil on the track
F1/ FIA would have dq'd them both for avoidable contact. Thats why i cant watch european style racing. Same awesome finnish with 2 3 guys giving all they got hanging it way out thare. To quote the band triumph they lay it on the line. Over hear every one chears over thare its all angry faces and fines and penalties.
GatoradeCupSeriesX94 NBC hasn't shut the fuck up about it because the BIG 3 are too good right now with no one stopping them or winning at all, stop getting pissed off because 3 guys are at their prime for this season. Be mad at the drivers who aren't stepping up, not the drivers that already have & that are proving themselves
jeffgordonfan2462 like honestly. He's talking about the big 3 but my comment is not about the big 3. You can tell that the races are boring this year. There's just too little downforce to make a pass in a green flag run
Best thing about this: Post race Brad walked up to the 9 crew and shook every crew members hand. Saying how great of a race it was and how he respects Marcus for not just dumping him and having a great race.
Agreed, this was good hard racing for the win, and Brad was a great sport after the race.
Ambrose came from the Aussie Supercars, where any contact was punished. Something that carried into NASCAR
@@perhapscoleiro3164 He was great in both NASCAR and the Aussie Supercars
Doesn't change the fact keselowski is one of the biggest dick heads in Nascar... Marcos was great fun to watch though
Marcos*
If only Marcos Ambrose was still racing in nascar... He brought good races to the road courses
That Supercars experience taught him well. It's a shame that he stopped racing before 40.
God bless Watkins Glen and Marcos Ambrose. One of the greatest race tracks ever made, and one of the most exciting road racers ever.
Rip Dodge being in Nascar
To hopefully return again.
Agree with you. NASCAR has been less interesting after Dodge left.
Yeah
😔I sure do miss Dodge in NASCAR.
We all miss Dodge. But they have to fix their damned problems
I wish they showed Brad's interview I've never seen a driver so happy to get 2nd before.
Ambrose was so underrated. What a road course master.

Marcos Ambrose Will Always Be In The Top 5 Road Course Racers
He was a Champion in our aussie V8 Supercars too.
Gotta remember he was in 2nd tier equipment too... makes what he did even more impressive
This is probably the all time greatest NASCAR finish. Just.... unreal.....
There have been similar ones tho but yes this is definitely one of the best all time finishes there ever was.
You must have never seen Darlington 2003 Craven vs Kurt Busch.
2024 Atlanta will now be on this list, along with 2013 Talladega, and 2003 Darlington.

Watkins Glen always delivers, has always been one of my favorite tracks on the schedule
This will forever go down as Allen Bestwick's signature call.
2001 Daytona
@@Ob1tuberThis and 2001 Daytona.
One of the best finishes ever
I wish Marcos would return for some of the road course races. Especially now that we have a lot of road courses on the schedule
let him retire in peace, he has gave enough for racing
with project 91 you never know...
Every time someone asks me why I like Nascar I come back to this finish. Yeah it sucks my boy the 18 got spun, but MAH GAWD what a finish. Its impressive on ovals, but even more impressive when these guys get up on the wheel like that on a road course.
More impressive as I believe the cars were making around 875hp on skinny tires with no grip. Real drivers right here
"CAN AMBROSE SAVE IT?"
I love Alan Bestwick
For all of you say that Keselowski wrecked Kyle, look closely and you will see that Kyle came down on the 2, giving him nowhere to go but the grass
ThatoneRahalfan15 he had a mechanical issue anyways, he wouldn't have won even if he didn't come down on kes.
I'm a Kyle Busch fan, but it's true. KB did come down on him.
i saw 2
The Ss were not meant to go 2 wide

I loved this race soooo much
Marcos was always fun to watch on the road courses
He was always in 2nd tier equipment, makes what he did even more impressive
This always comes to mind when I think of spectacular finishes. Great freakin race. KB in the Wall makes me feel like the world is right.
10 years later and this still makes the hair ok my neck stand up. Such an amazing sequence of events.
Yes it does, what a race. Nobody could have called it better than Alan Bestwick. Wish that guy could call every race, everywhere, from now on.
And people say NASCAR can't turn right! Great finish!
2012 was one of the best seasons i can remember and i've been watching since as far as i can remember back to 1995
That was wild i love it
Agile glorified tanks on quick road courses is nascar's wheelhouse outside of short tracks. Glad they've finally got the memo with next season. Can't wait
Watkins Glen is still the king, it's the super speedway of road courses. It really suites these cars well
2012 was an underrate season
Man, I remember this finish, I was jumping up and down like crazy
I was expecting this. Marcos Ambrose also raced in the Australian Supercars Series
Raced? Did more than race, left the sport in the same way McLaughlin did, as Champion
This was awesome just look at the fan’s reaction to ambros sliding through that second to last corner on the outside
Miss you Marcos Ambrose !👍🏻😎🏁
No stages needed
Ah yes the chaotic good/neutral Marcos Ambrose
Aussie Aussie Aussie.......
I like that they had Parrott go back and re-record the "Sprint Cup" part when he originally said "Nextel Cup."
One of the best finishes in NASCAR history.
This was my first race that I was at, did not disappoint with this finish
Marcus was good driver
I love that track!!! I took my family on it opening day!
And that is motor racing, everyone!
Gosh this was amazing
Loved this race!!!
Awesome "clean" beating and banging! Really on the edge!
Best Final lap ever
This is one of the race endings I watch when I have a bad bout of depression and want to feel excitement
Still to date, in my opinion, one of the best battles for a win in nascar history
What a finish
Never gonna see a race like this again 😣
This is still the best glen finish, 11 years later
Coming back from Shane Gizzy's win in the Chicago race
I just saw that 9 ford sitting idle ima dark room sad and exciting all at the same time
This was an awesome race
Aussie Aussie Aussie
This is pretty much every final lap in V8 Supercars tbh
Unfortunately with the low downforce we will never see another great finish like this.
Kentucky this year
Memorable
Miss those days....
The new graphics in forza are looking sick!
I would love to see a road course battle like this between Ambrose and Hamlin or Ambrose and Elliott.
Ambrose, Elliot, Larson, and Gordon, who would win?
@@SPCWakefield1103I’d argue it would come down to Ambrose and Gordon (provided luck is on his side.)
How many times have they uploaded this?
Top 5 best finishes in all of motorsport
Nascar should always make a lap car drop oil for the last few laps of the race and not throw a caution. Made for a good show.
My favorite finish, it was my type of finish, it was dirty and you didn't know who was gonna win
Nice
That’s exciting racing, a bit comical, but boy does WGI facilitate great racing.

We never be seen like this now in nextgen. Gen 5 cars made it better race in 11-2012
I loved ambrose in V8 Supercars and he was just as good in nascar
Marcus was Def one of the top road course drivers don't see much banging like that anymore 😒 just hearing him slide the car with complete throttle control high hp shot tires
That was the day I became a Kez fan
Ashame we don’t see finished like that anymore

Bowman Nation88 I mean Chicagoland was all about bumping and banging like that he probably means Watkins glen
Bowman Nation88 2014

Who else is here an hour before the 2019 race?

Ambrose drove his ass off.. ! Whats sad is... ambrose left nascar... he should make a return. So should J Pablo Montoya. Absolutly great racing
No retired but involved looking after some young drivers
I think they said that Labonte's car was leaking oil on the track, to top things off.

He used of because V8 Supercars Championship race on Circuits because I am from Australia allso
I say we find Marcos for project 91 at the glen in the next year or so

RC RACER 88 I wouldn’t say he is talentless he’s better than Dale Jr
Icy Khan Dale Jr is 1000 times better driver and person than cryle crybaby Busch will ever be
