    The last appearance of Slave-1 in the series. Slave-1 crashed on Florum after Aara Sing was shot down. Notice How Hondo gave her pirate colors. The same colors Fett would keep throughout his career.

    Many months ago i told you hondo would be a reoccurring character. And I'm glad you both like him because he is a great character as you can now see after so many episodes.

    Honda is a true pirate, he has his own, profits driven, moral compass. But when push comes to shove, when he really needs to, he stands to the occasion

    This is my absolute favorite episode with Hondo and it’s all in the Youngling lightsaber construction scene. He is motivated by greed and money, but what he values above all else is *having, doing and experiencing* things no one else does. It’s why he is constantly “switching” sides so he is constantly in…well, not a GOOD place with anyone, but respected enough to be loyal until the job is done. And his excitement is genuine. It puts him above the other pirates who’d consider it a waste of time.

    Having a Purple Lightsaber is a very rare and ultimately special thing. Having Purple Means having both light and dark side aspects to the force user. For a Jedi this is unthinkable typically but Mace Windu is a different kind of Jedi. Only other major character, that is slowly coming into canon, that had a purple Lightsaber is Revan from the Old Republic Era and he had a mastery of both Light and Dark side. As to who Revan is, he is probably the absolute most powerful force user in Star Wars history, as a certain master said, Revan was power looking at him was like looking at the heart of the force.

      No, no, no, please stop spreading this, this is a completely misunderstanding of what Balance means. There is no such thing as using both the Light and the Dark. There's only the Force, and the Dark side. Balance of the Force doesn't mean a Yin-Yang type of Balance between Light and Dark, it means the lack of the Dark side. Mortis is the one and only time a Light side is ever mentioned in anything created by Lucas, and that arc is specifically about deconstructing this Yin-Yang misinterpretation. The Force is generated by all living things, therefore the Will of the Force is for life to grow. But life can't grow, if a few selfish lifeforms want to controll all the others for their own gain. The Dark side is that selfishness tainting the Force. The Jedi don't simply "use" the Force, they're servants of the Will of the Force. Using the Dark side is imposing one's own will on the Force, trying to rule over it.
      Therefore it is utterly, completely impossible for anyone to use the Dark side and obey the Force at the same time. So, no Mace is not using the Dark and Light at the same time. That's an invention by the EU, which is a pile of licensed fanfiction.
      As for why Mace Windu has a purple lightsaber: because Samuel L Jackson requested it. That's all there is to it. He wanted to be able to easily find himself in battle scenes, and purple is his favorite color, so Lucas gave his character a purple lightsaber.

      @@Verebazs Sometimes, the fanfiction is better than the original story. I'll take the EU version over that simplistic bullshit.

    • @Verebazs
      @Verebazs Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@Adanu191No, it's the EU version that's simplistic BS. Also, just because you subjectively prefer the EU version, doesn't make it objectively better. Because guess what? The EU's interpretation automatically implies that balance means equal number of Jedi and Sith. And we saw what that entailed: a tyranical regime that blows-up entire populated planets.Yeah, that happened when there were two Sith and two Jedi in the Galaxy.
      So no. the EU's version is contradictory to the movies, it's contradictory common sense of good and bad, so it's bad. End of story.

    • @Adanu191

      @@Verebazs Agree to disagree. As it is, I will continue to loss Star Wars, since it ended when Lucas sold it off.

    • @Verebazs
      @Verebazs Před 6 měsíci

      @@Adanu1911: Don't pretend. If you actually cared about Lucas's Star Wars, you wouldn't call the rules of the Force and the Dark side that he very clearly laid out in the movies He made "simplistic BS", and especially wouldn't call fanfiction better than His original story.
      2: When used like this, "Agree to disagree" is a logical fallacy, because in this context, it means you reserve the right to be wrong, which is naturally BS. When faced with evidence to the contrary to one's opinions, noone has the right to stick to them. What you do have, is the right to like the EU, but you don't have the right to call it's interpretations objectively correct, or superior to the source material.

    While he may have lost the fight, Grevious was ultimately victorious for the CIS in that effort, which is why he was laughing. He took over Florum and the whole sector, essentially driving all the pirates out.

    There is a second purple saber user apart from Mace, that being Kelleran Beq, aka "The Sabered Hand."
    Purple Saber users are implied to ride the line between the Light and Dark within the order, though, so it's not surprising they're rare.

    13:23 Windu uses both the light and dark side to an extend which is the explanation for him having a purple (red + blue) lightsaber and most jedi in the order at the time didn't do that, use both.
    In Star Wars Legends the green Twi'lek Jedi Sa'har Kateen from the "Disorder" Old Republic cinematic trailer had a purple lightsaber as well, for example.

    And the Gathering is done! We're almost at the halfway point for season 5. As much of a bastard as Hondo is, I really like him in this episode. He really gets to prove that he's not totally irredeemable. Also, we get another few obligatory "R2-D2 is the best boy" moments here. George Lucas always said that Artoo is supposed to be seen as the family dog, and it really shows in this episode.
    Moving on to the fun facts for today's episode: when we get to Hondo's private fleet, one of the ships we see during the initial shot of the hanger is the Fortune and Glory, Hondo's Luxury 3000 space yacht that he used to deliver the missile launchers to the rebels on Onderon in the previous arc. Also, just in case you were wondering, the ship that Hondo, Ahsoka, and the others escape on is the Slave 1, the Firespray-31-class patrol and attack craft owned by Jango Fett and later on Boba Fett. It seems like he fixed it after Ahsoka cut its wing off to stop Aurra Sing from running away all the way back at the end of season 2. We also find out that he is the one responsible for changing the ship's paint scheme from the blue with yellow accents it had when Jango flew it to the iconic rusty red we see when Boba has it in The Empire Strikes Back. This last one may be a bit of a spoiler, but you all said you were further ahead on Patreon, but this episode marks the final full appearance of General Grievous in the series (he shows up one more time as a hologram in a flashback in the next episode, but after that is only mentioned).
    That's all I can think of for this episode. Next week we get to start the D Squad arc, an arc that isn't very well loved by most fans of the show, but it does contain George Lucas's favorite episode of the show. Looking forward to watching with you guys!

    P.S. If you think R2's sassy, wait till to meet Chopper, in Rebels.

    Blue - loyalty, stability, truth, justice
    Green - growth, safety, harmony
    Red - power, anger, hatred
    Purple - nobility and wisdom
    The other colors have meaning too but I don't remember them

      I think a reason could be that Mace was constant in the Lightside, only using the darkside for his lightsaber combat.
      While Anikain never used the darkside as precie as Windu, He was in the light and had only misstrust which him to fall completly to that darkside.
      Its like mace was a surgeon on using the darkside while anikain stood on a cliff and straigth up jumps into the darkness
