I'm seeing two possible reasons why Kyle did that prank:
1) He just doesn't care about how Chin will feel about it, his playful self just impulsively thinks that it is good to joke about your feelings for someone, or
2) He's too concerned why Chin is being NOT too clingy with him, knowing his gwapo naman, he's trying to send Chin a message to be also expressive with her feelings towards him (see 11:50 - 11:55 when he said him instead of her while explaining to Darren) and in need of an assurance that she likes him too. That's why he can't contain his happiness when Darren said, "It's obvious."
Either way, it can be his ego or his actual interest on her that provoked his actions.
He maybe just can't understand why Chin is holding herself from him when they suppose to be affectionate towards each other knowing they are a love team. He must know that it's not impossible to fall in love with him naman but she's just guarding her heart.
Women must actually asses first the guy's sincerity and intentions. It shouldn't be all just for a show.
I'm a mom and a silent Kycine fan and rooting for them as a love team.
