I nearly met Helen Mirren when she was just fifteen years old. She was acting in a school play, and had all SIX of the audience spellbound, me included as we watched her on stage one Sunday afternoon in May, in an otherwise empty school in Woodford, East London. She played the part of "Julie" .. a good girl gone bad who ended up dead. Even now, I can remember the way she flounced of the stage throwing her scarf back over shoulder... matching scarves and Tam o'Shanters were quite "the thing."
@1965guitarboy You know, when I was a kid I once nearly met Helen Mirren. She was 15 years old acting in a school play. I wanted to overcome my shyness and go over afterwards to tell what a knockout actress she was.... and tell her if she wanted to make acting a career I thought she would be GREAT... ..... but the others with me said we had to go and get the 'bus, so I DIDN'T. I have regretted that missed opportunity for 50 years. (sigh)
effyleven life is full of regrets. You should have spoken to her and maybe gone out and in the end married her and had a great life. The road of life is full of the flattened remains of indecisive people.
Considering she is now 62, and I'd guess a lot of lust on these hommages to her are from guys less than 30...it says more about her, than you...I am looking for a picture of her in that gold dress, brocade with corset lace front....when did she wear it? A full length foto...?
This is the one scene in the film I cannot accept. It is illogical unless we are seeing how Jeff intends to betray Harold. You don't try to pick your mates' women - you certainly do not try to pick up your underworld's bosses wife or girlfriend. Perhaps Helen in the discussion with Bob the following morning should have mentioned this.
Yes, think bobbydazzler right, makes more sense when rewatching the film (and knowing of Jeff's extra-curricular activities), it's an indication (there are others) that Jeff not to be trusted

"Saved by the bell.Good night!"
LMAO :-) Helen rocks!!!
Helen is gorgeous.
One hell of a career change when Derek Thompson became a nurse.
Would know how to treat stab wounds tho i suppose
sto seguendo i video su you tube lei e molto bella oltre che bravissima
Join the club, Jeff. Helen Mirren is one fine and foxy dame!
Naughty Charlie from Casualty!
Uhh, comparing Streep in any way to Mirren is laughable. Helen is one of a kind.
I believe she was even hotter in "Excalibur"!
@effyleven That is a wonderful story! I think that that is what the internet is about - being able to share such things.
@alanheath2 ****SPOILER ALERT**** Jeff DID betray Harold, and Harold glassed him.
Damn Bell!
Hell yeah !!! ;-)

@@264144253 And even more remains of those who were too decisive and didn't know their limitations.
Paul Allen I’m assuming you aren’t Lees mate Paul. That would be too much of a coincidence
Oops! Elevator-gate!

she is 76 now ....still has IT
Stand in line honey. We all want to.
@MonVie I didn't. She wasn't complaining about me to you was she?
An early role for Robert Webb
Derek Thompson you mean.
Note to self: don't use the line from this film.
You can use it, just make sure they haven't seen the film 😉😁
Raise your right hand if a beautiful woman has ever made small talk to you in a lift
@cbak12sg I think you have missed the thrust of my argument. It shows already that Jeff is untrustable.
THATS CHARLIE FROM CASUALTY!
hahahaah nice:D
Brady2k8 you like that uh HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOL
That's one slow moving lift
HOLY FUCK THAT WAS HOT.
It made me gasp! 🔥😳😊
@alanheath2 Fair enough!
This is true, but Meryl Streep is very close.
Dont we all brother....

He momentarily lost control of his emotions. Seems plausible.
I hardly think she was with Bob for his looks and if she did cheat, she'd hardly tell would she!
I believe you need to watch the film again 🧐 quite often, it is those 'closest to home' that are the biggest threat 🤔
Lol I certainly would too, she looked grrrreat!!
I don't understand this scene. This shows Colin's open disloyalty by trying to pick up his bosses wife.
Jeff.
shoes he wasn't to be trusted and was a snake in the organization

@johnnythekidable Good actress but average beuty.
She's not in the film for her looks, she's a fantastic actress who plays a gangster's 'moll' believably. 🙄
Average? You must be joking.
