    Jim Ward is the heart of ATDI, and their founder. Reunion without him makes no sense at all. That's why the band ended up like that.

    I love how he says, he travels, plays music, and money earned he invests it in his town...El Paso, it hits home literally. Im still in El Paso, i love my town. And he gets good bands into town to play at Tricky Falls venue, and its amazing. Thanks Jim, for all you do for our town, and for bands to get a taste of our culture and welcoming spirits.

      For a while in the later years of ATDI, Cedric and Omar became kind of the frontmen of the band. Shows would include stage banter where Cedric would shout at reporters "Hey there's members of the band that don't have afros". Jim co-wrote a lot of those songs and it felt like their very democratic group was going to be controlled by only Omar and Cedric. When the band re-united in 2012, they still tried to keep that spirit of democracy alive. In 2016 however, ATDI was booked for a festival tour around the world without even contacting Jim once about it. His worst fears of the band being this thing out of his complete control had come true.

    • @RiskyIOM
      @RiskyIOM Před 5 lety +9

      I think there's some leaps you've made there to make a story. And the whole "guys without afros" thing was actually the opposite of what you seem to be implying, in that it was Cedric telling people to not just focus on Omar and himself. Personally, I think there's little more to it now that Jim being his own man and simply not wanting to do the latest ATDI stuff. He does seem to not like to get bogged down in the same stuff for too long and it would make sense that he didn't want to go back to that.

      @GhANeC Před 5 lety +1

      Ian, wtf, i had never heard about any of those things. Is there even a reasonable basis of info where you pulled that from? At most, cedric has blamed himself from causing the breakup of atdi by leaving because he wanted to do something else. But neither him nor omar ever sought protagonism in atdi, they were just their irreverent selves. And whats this of cedric and omar booking tours for reunited atdi behind jims back?? None of them has ever talked about jims sudden departure yet, as far as i know, so how did you come up with this??

      Still don’t get it, man. Cedric and Omar, who had pretty much broken up atdi years before (and not on good terms), return to reform. Then, mere days before atdi is to properly kick off, Jim leaves, gets replaced with Davis, who had been brought into Sparta by Jim, and then Sparta reunite without Davis and without Tony hajjar who was cofounder of Sparta and Jim's proper bro (i mean Jim did a movie about his life!), and still until now no one wants to SAY A WORD ABOUT IT??! Man, something went down.

      I've been a big fan of ati, tmv, sparta, since inception… it really is jarring , and mysterious. I agree, something went down, which made jim let down his fans, which means it must've been something big. I hope cedric and Omar didn't relapse in their old ways.
