As Johnny Carson would say, "good stuff, funny stuff". I loved this show and I wished that he was still doing it. Martin Short admitted that SNL was very stressful for him, and I wonder if it was the same with this show. He does odd humor and it's sometimes tough to find a forum for that. He's not a standup, but I always thought he was spot-on hilarious.
Love Martin as Jiminy. There's usually just the one reason a show ends. That's when it's not making enough money for all the greedy humans who are feeding off of it.

@@cyberpleb2472 well since you dont know what improv is ill tell you. you are provided a situation, character, event or an interruption of some sort for the actor to react to. like when people come onstage to pose colin and ryan on "whose line..." and they make up a story based on how they are posed. no one wrote the poses they get put into. no one wrote the jiminy glick show. its improv. every interview is freestyled. so i can easily assume that either he really got a phone call and stayed in "character" and just riffed off it leaving the caller pretty confused for a minute lol or one of the cast decided to throw some randomness into and called it. but what makes no sense is for every bit of this series to be improv EXCEPT this one moment that they planned for such a small payoff that on the surface really doesnt seem any funnier than the rest of it making the effort at deception pointless. what i think happened is andys phone never rang. he improved it. they added the ringing noise in later in editing. neither seem to react to the phone ringing sound, watch their heads. andy just reaches for it. and no one keeps their button press volume that high or at all, if the phone even has them. and he doesnt even press anything to answer it one han passes it to the other and the thumb goes right to the side of the phone where the answer button has never existed on any phone. improv with editing in post production. youre welcome.

How is this show no longer on the air?! It is absolutely comedic genius. There is no accounting for taste among the U.S. television viewing public who are making hits of some of these trashy "reality" shows and "reality stars" instead of quality entertainment such as this.
It's strange that nobody talks about how Michael McKean is Jiminy's band leader. He's a great actor and some of my favorites of his are Spinal Tap, Best in Show, and A Mighty Wind. He's actually a great musician. I'm pretty sure he was also a cop in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
I wish I'd been mature enough to appreciate this when it was on the air (and I had access to Comedy Central). Because watching him repeatedly pull the rug out from under his guests is hilarious.
The easy joke would be that Jiminy gets a call during an interview and everyone else has to wait, but then when the guest gets a call, Jiminy gets outraged. For some reason it is endlessly funnier to me that they decided that he's just fine with phone calls interrupting interviews no matter who gets the call.
It just occurred to me that I pay about 100 dollars a month for TV. It's loaded with some of the worst programming I've ever been assaulted with and yet Martin Short apparently isn't on any of the 200+ channels that I have access to. I grew up with free TV over the air. Our generation was tricked into paying for Cable with the allure of the "commercial FREE" mass obfuscation plot and it worked very well. Now we pay for TV and watch more commercials than ever before. What a bunch of sheep we can be. Thanks for these episodes, Martin. And thanks to all who upload these shows! Oh, and thanks to the creators of CZcams. And I hope Google dies a prolonged and painful death for buying this company and for all the shit they are pulling on us..
