That was my first road bike in 1974. Brings back memories. That bike would eat my buddies 1000cc Harley sportster. We bought our bikes on the same day. His was in stock and he rode it home. The Yamaha was on a wait list so I had to wait 2 months before it came in. I blame Kenny Roberts for that. If I remember correctly the break in period was 500 miles. We were riding together when I suddenly pulled over. He came over and said what's wrong? I said nothing I just hit the break in mileage. He said lets go then and see what it can do. We lined up and took off. All he could do was smell my 2 stroke exhaust. That front wheel would be off the ground until you hit fourth. Fun times!

Love my pristine '75 RD in Portuguese Orange! Super easy to work on, but it's so reliable there's not much to do on it. Finding shops who know how to work on these are far and few between. Mechanics from this era are mostly retired or passed away.
Love the gurgling sound.
I have an RD 350 with microns on.
Absolute beauty, love the DG exhaust and the rims with the high shoulder.

😍 back in the late 70s, you could hear a motorbike in the distance and say to your friends that's a yamaha or a kawasaki. Now everything sounds the same.
We put a small amount of
Castrol R in the gas makes it smell wonderful. 🇬🇧 🇺🇲

Dollar for dollar, pipes are the best upgrade for a RD. A lot lighter than stock with a bit of a power boost.
Always replace the stock metal reeds with fiber ones.
Sorry friend but best power you are ever going to get out of an RD is stock pipes and stock air box
Unless you want to go JL chambers port polish re jet and reeds
Have been on these ol girls since the early 70s “am 64yrs old”
Have had about 15 250s and 350s “ still have a couple now”

I’ve got one, just need the motor,forks,rims relaced.gone through. Ive got all the replacement parts frames been powder coated all parts repainted . Can’t wait to finish it!
I had a YDS7 first then a RD350LC there was a 10yrs difference between them but they still had that sound as does this bike which is in the middle of them in design. Great bikes 😊

Nice bike. Where did you find the new rear sprocket? I havent been able to find a sprocket for my 74.
These RDs were all over the roads.

The Grape Ape! The exhaust note is to die for. The owner of this bike is gonna have a grin, ear to ear, when he rides this bike. I still have that same grin. I can't begin to tell you how much attention mine gets. I'll Never sell it. Not long ago, I guy asked me if I would sell it to him. Asked me how much I bought it for. I told him. He offered 3K more. Told him, Sorry, I'll never sell it.
It would be fun to ride just so I could listen to it run.
