  • Weird or What looks at the possibility of cursed objects. It looks at a mysterious painting of a crying boy in Britain that is blamed for starting deadly house fires. It, then, goes to Florida to examine the case of a sinister doll that ruins the lives of those who cross it. Finally, it looks at an unusual house constructed in California that was designed to avoid a curse.

I had a crying boy picture, i grew up with it in the uk in my mums house, and another similar one with a crying girl also. They came with us when we emigrated to nz, when i had my own home and children mum gave them to me, they were hanging in my house in whangarei new zealand when it burnt down in 2012. I had never heard of the curse, i intend now to go back over the house fire photos and check if the painting survived.

I had one growing up in England my mum loved it he had a stick on his shoulder and a little bag on end of it and was crying, terrified me when I heard the stories and eventually my mum allowed me to bin it but first I tried to burn it and the picture wouldn't burn, it turns out I found out later in life it was the materials used on the picture turned out to be nearly inflammable rest was just bad luck of having a fire in your home

anyone remember in the original Sims game, you could buy a picture of a crying clown or a sad clown, and if you did SOMETHING in the game the clown painting would start a house fire?!?! I forget how the trick worked, but I can remember finding out about it as a kid in probably late 90s early 00s and my friends and I doing it on purpose in the game. I had NO CLUE all these years that THATS what it was a reference to, my god lmaooooo its pretty neat that at a time where the internet was still fairly new, that the developers had heard this story and made it a little joke/Easter egg in the game. For reference, this is the first time I’ve ever heard about the crying boy, and I’m 30 and live in the US, despite having been obsessed with “unsolved mysteries” shows and books as a kid and running thru my libraries entire section of stuff like that. That’s so cute I’m so glad that my brain randomly connected those two facts together as I was watching it abt 7 minutes in lmao

Oh man, You just reminded me of something. We had a crying boy picture in our home as a child (I remember that part well but I had forgotten one thing until I read your comment). What happened was this: after a few years the painting was put into my bedroom - right above my bed - and one night it fell lengthways on top of me, like it had been tipped over to land on me that way. Scared the absolute living daylights out of me! I remember the painting well, but I had forgotten about that incident until I read your comment.

I have had it with me since 2017 and I bought it in Irapuato Guanajuato, Mexico. and everything can be said to have been good. My friends like it a lot. If you ever consult a Psychic...give them no information what so ever. Not your first name, middle name, last name. No information about your birth date, birth place, time of your birth. Your phone number they get from caller Id. More information than you wish for them to have right there. Don't fall for the "You have an accent", or similar fishing sceams. After all they are Psychic and should know all that information without you telling them one bit about yourself. If they keep fishing for information...they are not psychic. No matter what presence they feel in the room or on the phone. They are scammers. That is what they are. If they can give you the winning lottery numbers...they wouldn't. They would use that "insight" to enrich themselves. The moment you open your mouth to answer a simple question...they got you. It's psychology. Its in your eyes. They know people. They see fear. Nothing supernatural about that. It's basic. So when consulting a psychic...be aware of your facial movements, your eyes, your basic reactions, reactions to quest
ions you are not even aware of giving something away. Best...never consult one. This grieving people, that loved so much...they were talked into all kinds of bizarre behaviors. They probably benefited from them. May all the dead rest in peace. May they rest with their loved ones. All of them. RIP.

    *THE CRYING BOY*
The conclusion reached following testing at the Building Research Establishment, is that the prints were treated with a varnish containing fire retardant, and that the string holding the painting to the wall would be the first to deteriorate, resulting in the painting landing face down on the floor and thus being protected.

She has a point about the idea of a curse being self reinforcing, but you still have to figure out what it is before diverting from its effects just with rational thinking. You can't necessarily pep talk your way out of a curse or expect psych therapy to solve it. One of the characteristics of a curse is that you can't seem to rid yourself of it and many times it seems to pop up out of nowhere.

Ed and Elaine Warren collected cursed objects and kept them locked up where they remain today in their museum. They definitely believed that items can be cursed and hold dangerous negative energy and had many experiences to back up their beliefs.
There is another legend that's similar that goes back much further, the legend of the Black Madonna which caused all sorts of terrible events like death, severe illness and fires going back centuries, first in southern France where they originated. Then in New France, mainly Montreal when the first settlers came over.
The legend goes that you should never move the Black Madonna from where it is found or bad luck will follow. There are countless documented stories of terrible mishaps occurring until the figurine was returned to its place of origin and everything would return to normal.
The first Black Madonna crossed the Atlantic from France in the 1670s. The crossing was one disaster after another. More people than usual died of illness and it had several other odd mishaps including a serious accident and I believe in the end the ship sunk after an evacuation. The Black Madonna figurine survived and was placed in the first chapel ever built in New France, Ville Marie, aka Montreal in the Chapel of Notre Dame de Bon Secours which later burnt to the ground and surprisingly the small wooden Black Madonna figurine survived the fire unscathed. Then it was brought to a second location while the church was being rebuilt and that place burned to the ground and once again, the wooden figurine of the BM survived. I also heard a story that a second figurine came over and the church it was brought to burned down but the Catholic Church won't verify any Black Madonna worship in these churches...it's a big secret apparently!! The original figurine is said to be in the museum of the rebuilt Notre Dame de Bon Secours chapel to this day but ..... perhaps it's not the original. It is a VERY odd place with many strange legends. But.... all this could be mere coincidence and tall tales but in southern France even today they worship and revere the Black Madonna and take the superstitions rather seriously.

Yes, this happened with a dresser drawer my family got when I was a child. At night I would wake up to the drawers opening and closing. Their were two eyes looking at me from inside different opened drawers. One night my family went to see the movie "Jaws" it had just come out and was a block buster hit. That night when I went to bed was the worst and last night we had the dresser. I woke up in the middle of the night to the drawers opening again. Finally my mother had had enough of me wanting to sleep in the bed with her and my father that she had my oldest brother come and sleep in my room with me. About 30 mins or so after we ad all fallen asleep. My brother woke me up terrified that he saw someone looking at him from the closet. As I looked up we saw a shadow walk from the closet to the dresser and the dresser drawers began to open and closes violently. My parents ran in trying to catch us playing a trick in them and got the scare of their lives. Whatever it was it pushed my father against the wall and pressed him their really hard to the point that he cried out "God help me"!! Over and over again. All of a sudden it stopped as fast and it all started. That night we all slept in my parents room. (well, nobody slept really. We pretty much stayed up looking all over the place eyes wide open). Early in the morning my father called a friend over who came over in shorts, shoes and no shirt and helped him get the dresser into his truck. They took it to the dump and left it. And that was the end of that. Until maybe 3 years later. My parents had a spirit come and scare the crap out of them one night while they were in bed. We had a family meeting the next mourning. My mother asking us if we brought something into the house.

    • @glenturney4750
      @glenturney4750 Před rokem

Why waste her time just to prove something that people wouldn't believe her anyway? People are going to believe whatever they want anyway, REGARDLESS of if you prove something to their faces. Some people are stuck in their mind settings.
I used to hunt ghosts in an old cemetery up the highway from me. I captured LOTS of evidence that made me a believer on camera. One night, my wife was on her Facebook discussing the evidence that I caught with other people, 'cause Halloween was coming. One young man mentioned to her that he wasn't a believer and might change his mind if someone could show him. She asked me if I would be willing to take him there with my cameras. I told her to tell him to meet me at a location at around 8:00 p.m. and follow me there to that cemetery. He agreed. We met, he followed me to it, I prepped my cameras with new batteries, gave him one and I took the other, went inside and started taking pics in the dark with the flashes on, around the cemetery. Afterward, we went to my truck and I uploaded the memory cards into my laptop and started shifting through the pics we just took. When I shifted through his pics, these eerie looking lights were in some of his pics that couldn't be explained. We were alone there, nobody else was making lights move around in the cemetery in front of us. He stared at the pics, turned and jumped into his car and peeled out out of there. Never heard from him again.

We had something like this in my house it was a demonic poster on my sister's old bedroom door anyway the poster was a hip hop poster with all the icons of rap and bang in the middle of this thing was the most demonic, candyman ass looking Dr. Dre I've seen I didn't know who it was at that time but I do now lmao anyway it honestly scared the hell outta me couldn't sleep because Dre just watched me and those eyes helll nah, So one day when all the fam was coming over for a rehash of how things are going in life type/get together I'd got in trouble and told to go up stairs and walking in my room right in front of me the goddam closet door was open and the Demonic Dre face just was there scared the life outta me so I grabbed hairspray and my sisters lighter i stole and torched it on the door while screaming at it and trying to rip it off to stamp on it idk anyway all the family came running up in what they thought was an emergency and seen me stamping and screaming at what they said was just a picture and had well Rappers that were African American. So yeah some how all my family thought I was a racist or had a complex or something, it made it worse when I tried to tell them the poster was Demonic and was watching me. Haha, I find it crazy funny now and even laugh about it with my sister, The time I was stalked and almost killed by a Demonic Dr.Dre poster has been brought up by a few people.

This happened in front of fire fighters. When the daughter was removed,, the fires would stop. When she was brought back into the home, the fires would once again start.

I'm Australian. I've never even heard of 87 as an unlucky number in Australia. It’s just the number between 86 and 88.
Robert the doll. The carer of a trouble boy is sacked by his parents. The carer gives him a toy as a farewell present. The doll is then said to be cursed. Maybe it was the child's loss of his carer affecting him badly that caused the child to go downhill. Maybe the parents treated him badly & told him everything was his ex-carer's fault. Maybe all of the above. Poor kid.
Sarah Winchester lost all those people close to her in such a short time. And then she got wobbly in the head. Losing that many close relatives in such a short time, starting w her own child, is enough to send anyone a bit wobbly in the head.
Edited for Robert the doll & Sarah Winchester.
