Loudon is so underrated. This is one of my favorite songs. His lyrics are always so witty and ironic.
This is my life song... Thanks Loudon.
I don't know what it is about this song. It's not particularly a tear-jerker - no specific heartstrings are being tugged on here. It gets to me every time, though - it moves tears to me, for no reason that I can quite put my finger on. ...I guess it's just that it's such a beautiful piece of work that my heart swells with pride, just knowing that a fellow member of my very own species made this thing, all by himself.
Kind of sheds a light down on all the "one man guys" out there.
this is when my mum got him, she was 83. what a wonderful moment when you connect.
He has written so many brilliant songs, but I think this is the best of the lot!
Thank you, Homeless guy For putting up Louden Wainwright the 3rd Videos, I cannot get enough of him. My whole family love him. An amazing talent, A great artist And funny to boot
That's what it's all about: we are alone at the end of the day, no matter what company you may be in. So whistle that tune!
His voice sounded young. Like the voice of his young never change.
a young man's voice, yeah - beautiful, natural tenor. his son also has a beautiful voice but you can tell he's really a baritone.
Roll on Friday night and I get to see this genius again :-) x
Any videos you liked previously and want back, please let me know. Or any songs you like and wonder is there a video, I will let you know if it exists, as what I uploaded before was just a small percentage of what I have. HB
Your Mother and I please! Grey in LA? In C?
'Your Mother and I' & 'April Fools Day Morn' would be great if they exist.
One Man Guy
Loudon Wainwright 111
People will know
When they see this show
The kind of a guy I am
They'll understand what I stand for
And what I just can't stand
They'll perceive what I believe in
What I know is true
And they'll recognize I'm a one man guy
Always was through and through
I'm a one man guy in the morning
I'm the same in the afternoon
One man guy when the sun goes down
I whistle me a one man tune
I'm a one man guy a one man guy
Only kind of guy to be
I'm a one man guy
I'm a one man guy
I'm a one man guy is me
I'm a one man kind of a guy
People meditate
Hey that's just great
Trying to find the inner you
People depend on family and friends
And other folks to pull them through
I don't know why I'm a one man guy
Or why this is a one man show
But these three cubic feet of bone and blood and meat are what I love and know
I'm a one man guy in the morning
I'm the same in the afternoon
One man guy when the sun goes down
I whistle me a one man tune
I'm a one man guy a one man guy
Only kind of guy to be
I'm a one man guy
I'm a one man guy
I'm a one man guy is me
I'm a one man kind of a guy
I'm gonna bathe and shave
And dress myself and eat solo every night
Unplug the phone, sleep alone
Stay way out of sight
Sure it's kind of lonely
Yeah it's sort of sick
Being your own one and only
Is a selfish dirty trick
I'm a one man guy in the morning
I'm the same in the afternoon
One man guy when the sun goes down
I whistle me a one man tune
One man guy a one man guy
Only kind of guy to be
I'm a one man guy
I'm a one man guy
I'm a one man guy is me
I'm a one man guy

His kids are great branches, but he is the tree.
… and arguably the most underrated musician in the folk/pop genre, which encompasses a great swath of recorded music.
@homelessbrother You are awesome! Don't get into trouble for us but I thank you. If Loudon's people are reading these, I discovered Loudon through homelessbrother's youtube videos and have since then bought his records, gone to his shows, and introduced friends to him who have done the same. every tone is right ..
@homelessbrother thank you for the video
Your the best!!! How about the ukulele song and the old Dump the Dog, guitar one in the park. Thanx!!! you rock homeless brother :)
Superbe !!❤👌
If you like Loudon's style give John Hiatt a try. My personal favorite of the two. Both are pretty damn good, tho.
I love Rufus's cover of this. I wonder how Rufus feels about this song.
+Daniel Dougan
U do know that Rufus is Loudon's son, right? So, I imagine he loves it and the interpretation Rufus puts on it. Just my opinion,
+Mic Tod™ i think its quite obvious by his comment that he knos the link between the two peopole...
+Christopher Turvey
Yes, I guess you're right, I didn't read the comment correctly...thanks.
Haha cool
How would you feel if your dad wrote a song about being a loner and saying he only loves himself?
I have felt the same since I have been in therapy. I am a one-woman gal, and that gal is me. Anyone else would have to make it through that gauntlet. I hope someone does. :)
My theme song
Hey homeless brother if you could find louden performing screaming issues I would be in your debt would love to share it with my daughter
@stevenpalmer18 Both uploaded last night at your request sir. HB
What is the line "These three cubic feet of blood and bone are all I love and know" referencing?
His body. Probably the average man's body composition.
@@mydietisfruitsnuttandseed9817 not on my case but thank you for the input. Sounds reasonable to me.
That looked like peter belgvad in the audience
ig2d but was it him
maybe the most narcisstic lyrics ever written... it was genius by his neglected son to cover it, perform it with friends and harmonize it ("one man guy" with three voices)
Bob Dylan can write a decent song.
