Val and Earl is one of the best duos and best chemistry on screen. This is such a fun movie, never gets old!
100% agree!!
There are sequels, so now you must make this a yearly tradition until the series is done. It is tradition. 😎
I wouldn't mind that schedule! ;)
This movie also avoided the trope where the most prepared people go first.
Like, no. They were armed to the teeth and unleashed hell on that thing when it attacked.
The reveal of the wall full of guns was great.
Hahahahaha for real!! You're right about that. Love it
Tremors is such a masterpiece! So glad you watched it ❤
Thank you!!!
Great reaction....great cast....Reba nailed it for her 1st movie!!!!!
Thank you! Agree :)
My sister and I saw this at the bargain theater on a Friday night about two or three months after it was first released. It was sold out-everyone there was looking for a great time, and we got it! It was the best time I have ever had at the theater, with everyone screaming “RUUUUNNNNN” at the screen whenever the Graboid-cam POV started.
Heck yeah to every bit of this comment! I love anecdotes like this. That's how the movie Scream was for me- crowded local theater, everybody going crazy. Good times :)
Ay, this movie is getting a little resurgence.
It's such a classic. Also, the lead characters aren't stupid. They did the best with the information they had.
Yeah, I can tell! It easily won the poll on Patreon against the other not-so-scary movies it was up against, so people seemed to want to see it :) And hey, I'll say this for the main characters- they faced and defeated an enemy they were completely unfamiliar with in a few days, so that's pretty good in my book lol
This was filmed just outside Lone Pine, California. It was Kevin Bacon's second film. His wife gave birth to their first child during the shooting.
Thank you!! That's the kind of info and trivia I love. Appreciate it-
I wish I could give this multiple thumbs up ❤ I love love love your energy and insights. And of course, that you aren’t looking for anything more than a good time watching a movie. I always say, that if a movie can make me forget my world for 90+ minutes, it’s a good movie!
Thank you so much!!! I really appreciate your kind words ♥️ And I totally agree- movies should be a nice escape into other worlds and stories. Even if it's man-eating worms in Perfection, Nevada haha
Fantastic reaction❤ I absolutely love Tremors. It's one of those films I accidentally discovered with my Dad in the 90's late one night when I had insomnia and had crept downstairs to sit with him. We were channel hopping, came across this and were instantly hooked.
It's one of those films that I'll always watch when it's on the TV ❤
Thank you!! Aww and what a great story too. :)
Happy Movie Wednesday, David! 🎃
Great reaction! 😊
This is a great movie. Definitely at the top of my favorite Kevin Bacon movie list. Behind "Footloose". I keep forgetting that country music singer Reba McEntire is in this movie.
For a scary, but fun and cheesy 80s horror movie I very highly recommend the 1984 "Night of the Comet". And for a straight up scary movie with lots of jump scares I very highly recommend the 2014 "The Last Exorcism".
Looking forward to the next reaction. 😊
Hey Randee!!! Thank you! I have Night of the Comet written down on my "future movies" list. Either you recommended it to me before, or someone else did, but I've got it on my radar. I love me some jump scares, so I'll take note of Last Exorcism also, thanks!!
I hope your channel continues to grow and explodes with new viewers. Your background, combined with your very likeable energy, is why I watch. Cheers to the future!
Thank you, Zach!! What an awesome comment, I really appreciate that a lot. You made my day!
I'm only a few minutes in, but "Cala-Utah-Rado" sent me.😂
Edit: I'm so glad that you enjoyed Tremors, it's one of my favorites. Loved all the Reba puns. Tremors 2 is really good too, I definitely recommend it.❤
Hey thank you so much!!! Yeah I’m glad to hear that the sequels are good. This was so much fun that I’d be up for those. I’ll miss my Reba of course, but she and I will always have this one ;)
The Graboids of the Tremors franchise have a very unique life cycle.
Also Burt Gummer is the greatest character of the Tremors franchise.
Burt was AWESOME
"Broke into the wrong goddamn rec room, didn't ya you bastard!"
Part of the backlash this movie got (and currently gets), is that people judge the movie on the mislabeled "horror" genre. It's a "creature feature" movie, which is a subgenre of action/adventure.
Fun Fact: S.S. Wilson said that he got the idea for the film while he was working for the U.S. Navy in the California desert. While resting on a rock, he imagined what it might be like if something underground kept him from getting off the rock.
Land Jaws Fact: When Chang (Victor Wong) is partially swallowed by the Graboid, it swerves back and forth before drawing back under the ground. It's almost identical to the scene near the end of Jaws (1975) where Quint (Robert Shaw) slides into the mouth of the giant shark and it swings back and forth with him in its mouth before sliding back into the water.
Gun Enthusiast Fact: Burt (Michael Gross) and Heather (Reba McEntire) used the following firearms to kill the Graboid that burst into their rec room: Stey-Mannlicher SSG-PII, Winchester model 70, Winchester Model 1200 Defender, HK91A2, Colt AR-15 Sporter II, Remington 870, Sig Sauer P226, Ruger Redhawk, M8 flare gun, and then finally Burt finishes it off with a Belgian William & Co. 8 gauge shotgun (The Elephant Gun).
It's been a busy week so just now watching. I LOVED this movie as a kid! I never played the floor is lava, I played the floor has worms. 😂
Hahaha the floor is worms! Awesome. Hope you have a fun weekend to balance out the busy week ;)
Loved the reaction!! As usual! 🥰⭐️🙌🏼
Fun Fact Time: You ever hear of the game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon?!? Well, I made up one for my fave tv show; Knots Landing. How ironic that Kevin Bacon is in this movie; hence the name of the game. But my thing is I always do well in tying back most 70’s, 80’s, 90’s & some 2000 films back to Knots Landing. This one is not much of a stretch. The child actor who played Melvin is played by Bobby Jacoby. He played Donna Mills’ tv son (Abby’s 2nd child) Brian Cunningham from 1980 to 1985. So now that I brought up Kevin Bacon, he was in the original Friday the 13th which started Betsy Palmer (Pamela Vorhees). That actress (Betsy Palmer) played Val Ewing’s aunt Ginny (Virginia) also on Knots Landing. This was after Lilimae, Val’s mama (Julie Harris) left the show. 😂 I know; I need help! 🤷🏻♂️
Well if you need help, I’m right there with you!! You KNOW I pass no judgment on anything related to La Knots! And THANK YOU- I was trying to figure out where I knew the Melvin kid from! At first I thought it was the older brother from Wonder Years, but you’re absolutely right- that’s Brian. And I didn’t even remember Betsy Palmer as Val’s aunt, so bonus points for that one! You got skillz. 😁
Btw I’m still p*ssed I can’t stream old episodes or find the dvds.
Hilarious you mentioned the special effects towards the end there- I’m sure someone else mentioned it but it’s all practical! I had this movie recorded from tv on a vhs as a kid, and right after it was a recording of The Langoliers. If you want to see some bad early cgi langoliers is the place to go!
YES! RIP Fred Ward😢 This and Sweet Home Alabama are my Favorite Movies of his❤
Heckkkk yesssss to Sweet Home Alabama!! I haven’t seen that in a while, but there was a time when I watched that repeatedly. “You just killed the state bird of Alabama!” And of course the piece of advice that still rings 100% true: “You can’t ride two horses with one ass, sweetheart.” He was great.
Another duo that has great chemistry,, for Christmas you could watch Running Scared, the Chemistry between Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines.
Thanks!
In case she looks familiar to anyone who does not know, the Doctor's wife is played by Bibi Boesch...who played Kirk's baby mama...Dr Carol Marcus...in Stare Trek II Wrath of Khan. 😁💯
For me, I'm not a Star Trek fan, so I don't recognize her from that, but I definitely recognized her from something. Or just maybe just appearances on multiple shows/movies from around then :)
@@DavidvsFilm Indeed...she was on Night Court and in Steel Magnolias, and quite a few other movies and shows.👍
I love this franchise. 2&3 are pretty good. 4 is a prequel and pretty good. 5-7 are fun but not as good as the rest. Regardless of quality it's a fun franchise.
These things have one heck of a learning curve.
Did you ever check out the TV series? Sorry big fan of the franchise and I just had to ask lol.
@@nickschnider9191Yes I did. It was fairly good from what I saw. Unfortunately I moved and didn't have satellite for awhile so I missed the rest of it. I really need to find and watch it somewhere.
@@toodlescaeoh yes! I only saw the first 4 episodes new but I found it on DVD about 12 years ago haha. It's pretty fun, Spoilers, Christopher Loyd was a welcome surprise later in the season.
If they're close to this, I imagine I would have a lot of fun with them :) I'm not sure how much of an "origin story" type of prequel 4 is, but if it tells us where the worms came from, then I would love that.
@@DavidvsFilmthe first 4 are definitely worth it in my opinion. They kept all the same people behind the camera for them. I think the 4th film was made with syfy channel because it was around the time the TV season started. Good reaction btw, I'm almost done watching haha. Have a good one everyone
I watch this movie several times a year, and just recently I realized the same thing you did: they talk up the Graboids' foul smell, but they never pay it off. Might have been some angle they started out with, but gave up on.
'Bitch, you were just pole vaulting and you can't jump off a shelf?!' 😂 agreed.
I mean right?? ;)
Fun reaction to a great movie. Too bad Marc didn't watch too. I luv Kevin Bacon. He has a spooky movie called Stir Of Echoes that's good. I also luv him and his wife's IG page. They do a lot of singing to their farm animals. So sweet. Also I met Reba once back in the 80s. I used to work for an inventory company. We traveled around on an old Bluebird bus to different states doing inventory at various locations. They covered the hotel expenses and all we paid for was the food. Was such a fun job. Anyways, Reba just happened to come into a Walmart we were counting. Such a nice person. She chatted a bit and signed autographs and went on her way. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.. 😁
BTW, love all your spooky decor.. 👻
Underground god-damn monsters! I love Tremors, it's one of my favourite films. The monsters are dangerous but not unstoppable, with both the people and the Graboids learning about each other in a battle of wits. And the people being pretty smart about it rather than the plot being driven by them being idiots. You know that when the audience are telling the characters to do what they are doing instead of to _not_ do what they're doing. Also interesting as a rare horror film set almost entirely in bright sunlight. The sequels are great too, definitely worth watching too, and even the TV series is fun, even if it's a bit wackier than the films.
The second film starts with Earl hired to hunt Graboids that are terrorising an oilfield in Mexico, but things don't go according to plan...
Hey! Thank you so much for your comment and letting me know your thoughts on the sequels/series. This was an insanely fun movie! Oh also great point about being a horror film set in the sunlight! That's true.
OMG! How dare you upload this while I am stuck at work. (Anyway, I will be listening to this. Once I get home, then I will definitely watch.)
Thanks!! Hahaha yeah, even though I realize people watch from all different time zones, when CZcams tells me that 12pm is the best time for me to upload based on when my audience watches, I just can’t believe it lol.
I love Tremors such a classic. I watched all of them even the series that Syfy had it only had 1 season. I love Burt with all the weapons and bunks and Reba is so cute in the movie.
Totally agree! They were great. HAPPY HALLOWEEN, btw :)
Ah! Another fun one! Love all these characters... and giant-mouthed ground-slugs with bitey worm-tongues? They are silly-scary! Gonna be a laugh! Here we go! :)
Thank you so much :) I loved this movie.
TREMORS 2!!! It's good too!!!
The Fog is another really creepy but NOT gory horror movie that I think you'd love. I personally love the remake - even though it doesn't get super good reviews. I don't see anything wrong with it. Either one is a good watch. Cheers from Canada! Tremors is a top favourite - great reaction!
Thank you so much for the recommendation, our friend in Canada! It warms my heart every time I see the “u” in favourite 😁
@@DavidvsFilm lol - you're most welcome. Looking forward to your next reaction :)
Calautarada...
Luv it..
Why thank you..
This was my favourite film growing up. Brilliant reaction 🙌
Thank you so much!! I can see why. It was instant love for me :)
I had NO business watching this as a child. I have distinct memories of tiptoeing to the bathroom after watching this and being terrified one of this things was going to shoot out of the toilet and snatch me 😂
Hahaha. To this day, I still have a very real fear of toilet snakes. Not from this movie, just in general.
Love my horror with some fun thrown in. (I enjoy straight up horror, too, but gimme some wink-and-nod horror anytime, when it's well done.) I think this would have been a better one for Marc to watch than Rosemary's Baby. Another good Kevin Bacon creeper is Stir Of Echoes (for horror-horror). Thanks for the jumps and laughs. Look forward to more. Miss seeing these movies in theaters. Audience participation will never beat watching movies at home.
This was a fun movie. It surprised me for what was considered a B-movie and had fantastic special effects!
You are so right.
Howwww did I miss the Life Out There joke during the full length patreon version?? I’m cackling like an idiot at work now.
Hahahaha why thank you sir. Hey did you get my message on Patreon btw? Check it if you haven’t- about Midnight Kiss recommendation.
RIP Walter 🕊️
Funnest Movie
A big take off of the 50s monster movies only so much better.
PS
Reba MacIntyre is a skeet shooting champion.
RIP Fred Ward
Hello friend!!! Oh I totally got those vibes while watching, yes :) I did NOT know that about Ms Reba! Awesome :)
This movie really is great in its way 😅
Great reaction, and love your shirt! Happy almost-Halloween 🎃
Totally agree! And thank you!! 🎃🎃🎃
I Was Watching Tremors Last Night On TV 📺
Oh yeah?? haha, we're lined up then
TREMORS!!! I LOVE this movie. Own it and all the sequels on DVD. I had a huge crush on Kevin Bacon when I was little 😂
Ohhhhh look at you with a little crush on ol' KB! Yeah, this movie was a lot of fun. And you KNOW I trust your judgment, so I'll have to check out the sequels. I'm guessing KB didn't do those, though.
@@DavidvsFilm He did not, though Fred Ward (Earl) is in the second one and Burt is in 2 and 3 (I think he's in more, but honestly past the third one, they aren't worth it in my opinion, so I don't remember for sure). Each movie gets more ridiculous, but they're just a good time. Definitely don't watch them for the scares or seriousness! Haha
Want more Tremor action? There are about 5 sequels!
I'm drinking peach tea too. No, seriously, it really is just peach tea.
Haha still legit ;)
I totally agree with your view of this film. It is tons of good fun with great characters and one of my favorite campy horror movies. There is another film that has a similar vibe that I think you would enjoy watching as much as Tremors. It is called Critters. I would love to see your reaction to it. 😃🤩😉
Thank you!! Oh yeah Critters! I never saw it, but I totally remember seeing the box back in the days of roaming the video store aisles :)
How do you know someone is a geek? They have globs of sunscreen on their nose lol. Always wanted to grow up to be Burt when I was a kid. The rest are equally as fun, though after 3, they definitely get very Sharnadoy. Tremors 7 came out in 2020. Unfortunately, Michael Gross (Burt) passed in 2022, and people have been clamoring for Bacon to reprise his roll for a Tremors 8.
Hey don’t tell Burt he’s dead, because he’s still alive ;) It was Fred Ward (Earl) that passed in 2022.
And heck yeah on the nose o’ sunscreen lol. Unless it was Pedro Pascal. He could get away with it.
@DavidvsFilm yea, I just realized my mistake. There's so many guys named Michael Gross. The wrong one was coming up, lol. I'm glad I was wrong, he's one of a kind
@@Rocco1332 Haha yeah totally! It does suck about Fred Ward though :(
I so knew you would love this film!! And for good reason, it is a truly good for the reasons you listed. I may not search for it but if I run across it I will always stop and finish it.
Yeah, it was so great!! Really enjoyed :) Hey also THANK YOU for the nice post card you sent, btw. We're doing an unboxing video this weekend, and I will be sure to show it off.
@@DavidvsFilm Thanks - I probably won't be able to watch as I am in the hospital from COPD exasperation and heading to physical/respiratory rehab center for a while so I can get back home. I put Tremors on the same level as Galaxy Quest, a solid genre film w/great fun mixed in.
Don't forget The Haunting (1963) for Halloween - or soon after!
@@jeffmartin1026 oh no I am so so sorry to hear that!! We hope you feel better soon. And don’t worry- it won’t be a live stream, just a video, so you can watch anytime!
@@DavidvsFilm cool, I'll look for it when/wherever I get settled in.
Your reaction was so much fun. I am down for a rewatch with you and Marc😊
Hahaha thank you!! Yeah I’m sad he missed this one. It was fun. But don’t worry, you can watch him squirm during Rosemary’s Baby next lol
Gotta love this fun, kooky movie 🎃👻☠️🌾🍁🎃
Every time lately you have said the good, the bad and the ugly I think you mean the movie from the 60s or my brain also keeps going to The Quick and the Dead. Haha.
hahaha no, but that's funny! Now I'm going to think about THIS when I say it :)
No CGI - all practical top to bottom. Lightning in a bottle movie.
Definitely!! You can tell a lot of work went into this movie that was supposed to appear to be a lot of fun.
I love this movie!! The sequels not so much but this is definitely a cult classic! So good!
Hey there!! Totally agree- this was so much fun. I could see myself enjoying the sequels, but it would be less for me without Kevin Bacon and Reba ;)
Tremors 2-4 are also really good
Thanks!! Yeah I had a seriously great time watching this one, so that’s good to hear.
The similarities to Jaws are not a coincidence. An early title of this movie was "Land Shark", which was later changed to "Tremors". There is an excellent documentary about the making of the movie on the official Tremors CZcams channel, which I highly recommend: czcams.com/video/hpCSCQJEmnk/video.htmlsi=H0tiBfnAHv__9o_v
Oh cool!! Thank you!
Val:🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨
Earl: 😐😳🙄
Hahahaha
Sorry to Peach Tea lovers - but doesn't the fluids from the Graboids look like concentrated Peach Tea?
Hahaha some truth to that..
I love this movie!!
Just another example of why Gen X Rules..
LOL... 🤣
Having been married to a prep-er in the past, I understand Reba and her husband and the husband is great in the sequels. Enjoyed this video although your spiders on the lampshades got me a few times. They are creepy.
Hey there! I loved them as a couple, and I’m glad to hear that at least he is in the sequels. And thank you about the spiders!! Haha. I love decorating for this time of year :)
OMG, easiest A ever. I kind of wish it was scarier or at least gorier...but in a pre-Jurassic Park world it was the best "won't scar kids too badly" movie since Jaws maybe?
At the very least, this flick won the Jaws Award for "movie that even people who hate scary moves like". And well-deserved imo
Hahahahaha TRUE!!
There a lot more movies of tremors so hopefully u will see the other ones
Do you think Burt and Heather could be Bill's (episode 3 of The Last Of Us) parents?!! All that survivalist prepping. Ron & I saw TREMORS at the theater in 1990. We loved it, suspense and tension and no gore. Of course I loved Fred Ward and Kevin Bacon in those fine tight jeans. If Ron sees this he'll call me a slut...again.
Hahaha “again”. Yeah this movie was great, and I REALLY like the conspiracy theory about them being Bill’s parents haha. Good one.
Great! Watch the movie Robocop 1987, please. That would be really cool to watch your reaction to this awesome film!
Thank you! Actually, Robocop is on my list for November movies, so be looking next month please :)
Have you seen Jurassic park, Mindy is lex in Jurassic park
Seven movies and a thirteen episode TV series. Odd how this has fallen into obscurity.
You're in luck if you want more Tremors as there are another six movies!
No way they’re quite as good as this one, but I’m sure they’re still great :)
@@DavidvsFilm They have their moments if you just consider them as some campy horror fun! I'm not going to mention any spoilers though in case you watch them.
It did spawn a TV show too, but I never watched it so I can't comment on whether it was good or not.
There was another attempt at a TV show (about five years ago?) involving Kevin Bacon too but it never got past the pilot stage.
The sequels are fun but without Val and Earl’s banter they’re not as good. Although Earl is in a couple sequels along with Burt (with out Reba).
The smell is from all of the decaying flesh from what they have eaten.
Ohhh.. makes sense. Thanks!
CAN YOU PLEASE REACT TO PART 2&3 AND THEN THE 13 EPISODE SERIES PLEASE
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
THERE ARE A TOTAL OF 7 MOVIES BUT NO ONE HAS REACTED TO THE TV SERIES YET AND I REALLY WANT TO SEE SOME ONE REACT TO IT AND ALSO LIKE ONLY 1 OR 2 PEOPLE HAVE REACTED TI THE 3RD MOVIE AND ALL 4 PARTS ARE REALLY GREAT!!!!
H E L L Y E S ! to Tremors, but wait there is more.......................... get into IT!!!!!!
Thanks!!
Great reaction! This is an interesting movie! I would also really like to see your detailed reaction to the cult film Robocop 1987! Especially before the release of a new world game based on this movie. Do you have any plans to make a reaction to this film?🦾🔥
Thank you! Actually yes- it’s on the list of movies for November :)
Great! I will really look forward to your reaction to this cool movie! I hope it will be very soon. Thanks! :)
