Schiehallion | Scotlands Easiest Munro in Winter

- Day 2 of my winter skills practice days, I headed up Schiehallion, said to be Scotlands easiest Munro at 1,083 metres. I set out to summit the peak in February, though no winter kit was actually needed for the ascent. I had a fair bit of drama with technology, but the brocken spectre made up for the chaos!

Its great to see you walking again. Not an area I know but thoroughly enjoyed it. I managed 6 miles last weekend round Donnington Castle and Bagnor. With two poles.
I think my car knows all the way back to Somerset from Scotland! Scotland's mountains are transformed into a fairy wonderland in winter and that was just the perfect day. On a day like that I just want the views and sensation to go on for ever and I am no stranger to doing the last bit by head torch!

Loved this. Really interesting to see how the mountain was covered in so many broken up rocks. Amazed you were able to see your phone in that mess.
Schiehallion is a very significant mountain. It is we're they did the experiment to calculate the earth's mass and give us the contour lines on the maps we use nowadays 👍
Wow, a Brocken spectre! That's the first time I have seen or heard of that, I had to look it up but that is really super cool. I love watching these hikes because I love hiking but don't get out much anymore, and your videos really brighten up my day!

Another great adventure! The mountains in winter are definitely something special. Seeing a Brocken spectre was awesome, so yeah, clouds and sunshine is a good thing!
I'm wondering about one thing though: is it a jumble of rockage or a jumblage of rock? 🤔😀
Scheihallion is in my favourite part of scotland. Ive walked the lower slopes many times. Lovely to see the top today.

I didn't know there was a band but there certainly is a dance tune. Played by the Glencraig Scottish Dance Band.

Thanks for your videos, we enjoy them and find them inspiring. As regards losing your phone the Apple Watch has an option to press and get your phone to ring if it’s within Bluetooth range .. maybe there are watches that work the same way with android? The same is possible with key rings etc but a little expensive.. but maybe having this rather expensive technology we’ll get careless n lose things all the more 😊

To one of them I attached a pic of my friend & I at the top of Goatfell, probably my last climb of that summit. I had ideas about some day climbing the slightly shorter peak to the west, but now I think I'd rather explore elsewhere, like you said there are so many possibilities.

Schiehallion is not Scotlands easiest Munro in winter. It is a leg breaker because of all the rocks and believe me anywhere near the summit on any given day can be very treacherous because of the weather and wind.
Mount Keane, Scotlands most easterly Munro is an easier Munro to complete in winter and summer.
Your title of video gives the wrong impression of a mountain which can be very dangerous.
I agree 100% I think you are giving a false view of what would be pretty dodgy with any ice etc on some of the boulder field.
Thanks for your comment. No mountain is easy, especially for the unprepared or those lacking skill, experience, or situational awareness. The idea of this video is to actively show people what they are taking on, not feed into it. And sadly, if I want any of my content to be watched, I have to have titles that people will click on and engage with. Clearly it did the trick :) That is why I talk about myself taking up the kit needed vs those going up in trainers and a hoodie. Very different things. I aim to educate and empower, never to brush over the seriousness of being in the mountains. So thanks for this comment indeed highlighting that EVERY mountain can be very dangerous.
