  • How I have encouraged native wildflowers to come into my garden. Just how invasive have they become. #wildlifegarden #biodiversity #frogs #bees #garden

    I tried planting poppies a few times. Then one plant magically appeared last year. Now it’s beautifully robust. I also cheated and bought a few to cheer me and my neighbor. What happy happy flowers!

      I struggle to grow them as my garden has too much shade. So to see these poppies popping up is a real treat. I've actually got a perennial poppy growing g that is going to flower too any day that's been in for about fours years and never flowered before so a double treat. I love to hear bees inside them they sound so excited getting at the pollen. They are a very cheerful flower indeed. 😊💚

    I love your garden wall. Oh I have to look that herb Robert up it looks similar to one we have. Welsh poppies are like California poppies and self seed everywhere here. Thank you for the beautiful tour about I bet it is abuzz with life. Have a marvellous week and stay well, Ali 🌥️🇨🇦

      Thanks Ali it originally ran the full length of the garden when first built over 100 yrs ago only two gardens in our row of terrace properties have the full original wall now. But yes I do love the wall too. Yes insects are beginning to appear now looks like some warmth here for a bit so that should help them along, though rain expected too. Hope you're well take care . 💚

    I can feel some lovely white currant and raspberry jam coming on later in the year. 😁

    Thanks for the tour Tracy. The rain has been so awful hasn`t it, but maybe the plants are benefitting now and the insects will benefit in the long run. I have one spindly hedge garlic plant that has seeded itself in my garden so I`m hoping for more next year. I have seen a few male orange tips around the place but never in my garden. There is hedge garlic in the road verges, but the men from the council are out with their mowers and strimmers now. So sad.

      Over from me is an area of grass that belongs to a housing charity. During lock down it flourished with wildflowers. Whether due to costs or we now have a wildlife enthusiast in charge they've only cut it once last year in September and so far this year its uncut. It's full of cuckoo flowers, another food sauce for the Orange-tip so 🤞🏻they leave it as they did last year. No spraying by our local council yet either, some good coming of a low budget maybe.

      Great! If you haven't found him yet to watch I'd highly recommend 'Wild Your Garden with Joel Ashton.' Also someone just setting out wilding their garden is 'My Wild Welsh Garden.'I have established my garden over many years and I hope my videos help too. It's really worth it for the wdlife and they'll definitely show appreciation. Also look out for wildlife gardening books in charity shops, I've found some great books in them. Best of look 😊 💚

    It's been proven that a 'garden' left to do it's own thing does not support wildlife or even attract it the same as a managed wildlife garden such as yours and 'My wild welch garden ' does, where there's a mixture of cultivated and wild/weeds mix of plants. I also am trying to attract as much wildlife into my garden in Cumbria. 🙏🐞🐝🐛🦋🕷️🌹

    • @wildlifegardener-tracey6206
      @wildlifegardener-tracey6206  Před měsícem +1

      I know if mine was left it would be a mix of bramble nettles and due to the trees I have in and around the garden if they could get through the nettles and brambles it would be Ash, Birch and Sycamore trees. Very little else. I hope your garden continues to thrive and support the insects and wildlife in your local area. 💚😊🐌🐝🐛
