I FINALLY FINISHED THIS ONE WOOOHOOOOOOOO
I’ve been working on this PMV since February, and I’m so glad that I ended up finishing it. I’ve been working on it on-and-off mostly (also a reason why it took me so long to finish), and I did most of it during my last school year. I’m actually pretty happy that I’m posting it today, since today’s my first day in art school. And no, not art school as in college. I’m too young for college lmao
I could go on and on on how much this video means to me and my growth as a person, and I’m very thankful that I was able to do it. Hopefully there will be more projects like this in the future!

✨STORY (for those who don’t read Warrior Cats):
This video is mainly focused on Squirrelflight and her adoptive children - Hollyleaf, Jayfeather and Lionblaze.
Her sister, Leafpool, begged her to adopt her kits due to her not being able to raise them. Leafpool is a medicine cat, and she cannot raise kits nor have a mate. Squirrelflight was very conflicted about it, until she eventually gave in. She raised the kits as her own with her mate, Brambleclaw, and never told anyone the truth about their heritage. Her kits grew up into great warriors, and Squirrelflight couldn’t have been more proud. Tragedy struck when there was a forest fire, and Hollyleaf, Jayfeather and Lionblaze got trapped in the fire. Ashfur (Squirrelflight’s obsessive ex) made a pathway for them, but got in the middle of them and Squirrelflight in intentions of letting them burn. Squirrelflight revealed their heritage right then and there, in hopes of saving them. After they were let go by Ashfur and escaped, her daughter (Hollyleaf) killed Ashfur and then revealed the secret to all the clans during a gathering. Squirrelflight was happy that her kits were safe - and even with the secret out, she felt no different. Sadly, Hollyleaf was murdered in the great battle, and Squirrelflight was there to comfort her and spend the last moments with her dear daughter. In the end, she was still their mother, and sacrificed her whole life for her children.

I still cannot believe that it’s been over a year since I started working on this video, and 8 months since it’s first been uploaded. I’ve gotten a ton of support for this video, at the time when I needed it the most. I went through a lot of things during the making and after releasing this pmv, and this pmv really kept me going artistically-wise. I cannot really explain just how much it means to me, and only those close to me will understand the severity of the impact it had on me. I started making this when I just turned 15, and now I’m 16 and a freshman in an art highschool. This has been quite a journey, and I’m still appauled by all of it. I will keep creating content and try to be more active here, there will be more pmvs, amvs, maps / map parts, animations & animatics, and I’m really looking forward to it all and your feedback! I love that this focuses on the relationships Squirrelflight had with the women in her life, her family that she loved so so much and how they meant everything to her and how she would protect her sister at any cost. Even though she didn't give birth to the three, she saw them as her children and the heartbreak she felt was real.
fr, it's a bit exhausting how much Squirrelflight's life is centered around all the men in her life. Like she's just a byproduct or their actions. Here you truly see that she is her own cat.

I’m writing this now since it has been brought to my attention that someone stole my script, character designs and concept for this PMV and used it to make a MAP without my permission. Yes, they have asked me for permission beforehand, but I told them no. They disregarded my word anyway and went ahead to make a MAP call that uses the same song, characters, script and concept as mine. I have since notified them about it and they took the video down. It has all been settled down (for now), but I’d like to put this here, since people don’t read the desc nor my replies to such requests.
Please do NOT copy my work! I have put months into this video, and for a person to make the same thing in 4 hours with no changes baffles me. It is disrespectful to creators who’ve put hard work into their art, and it’s a classic example of theft. I would not be salty about someone using the same song (nobody owns a song c’mon), but the same song AND characters and the whole script + designs?? That’d basically be a remake of my own video, to which I said no beforeheand.
Fanart and videos inspired by mine are greatly appreciated, and I do differenciate inspiration from theft. If you want to draw fanart of this or use my designs in your work - go ahead! I feel very flattered by content inspired by my own, and I support it 100%. But if you take my whole video and basically remake it, then that won’t work. i absolutely love this but one little thing i just wanna point out that i haven't really seen anyone else say: i LOVE how lumpy and soft you made leafpool look... like, how when she's sitting/laying she just her whole self fills out and flattens onto the ground, especially with all the loose skin post-birth, it's realistic and gives her a really unique silhouette compared to Squirrelflight, who has this hard contrast between smooth & thin, and big poof fluff throughout her design.
also little baby jay being significantly smaller as a kit and hiding his face in squirrelflight's fur... wholesome
You know u did a good job when u manage to make people cry. This is a masterpiece, the symbolism is great and it conveys squirrelflight's feelings and struggles so perfectly, I'm not joking when i say I got a little emotional when squirrelflight smiled once the secret was spilled at the fire scene! I think my favorite has to be the part where hollyleaf is killing ashfur and squirrelflight is sitting in the center smiling while crying
or even the ending where squirrelflight is embracing (idk if that's the right way to put it) hollyleaf and you used the singers breathing to animate her dying breaths, and finally when it zooms in on squirrelflight as she humms while she cries on hollyleaf

I love how you captured how Squirrelflight was really a mom to her sister’s kits and truly loved them as her own. But what really made me happy was how at the end you show Squirrelflight with her daughter, Hollyleaf as she dies and the mother daughter relationship and emotion/reaction of Squirrelflight as Hollyleaf dies giving her comfort. Not many things show Squirrelflight being there of Hollyleaf death or at least captures the relationship. I believe in the book when Hollyleaf was dying it just focused on Leafpool and her and Hollyleaf didn’t even really say anything to Squirrelflight even though I believe Squirrelflight witnessed her death.

My fave part is definitely 1:43 - 1:55, the way you showed Squirrelflight smiling up at Hollyleaf and then showing Hollyleaf pouncing towards Ashfur is super emotional. Fr tho, I didn’t expect this to get 50k at any time, let alone a week. Working on this pmv was very fun and relaxing, and it was something I mainly did out of my pure love for the characters. I expected it to get 200 views tops, and seeing it blow up like this means more than I could ever explain. I’ve only dreamt of these moments, and I’ve never expected them to happen right here, right now. I LOVE the almost obsessive way leafpool stares at the kittens, her expression after the newborns are transported pained and fanatical and perfect.

Not gonna lie. My favorite part was when hollyleaf leapt for squirrelflight, but squirrelflight embraced it, like “if it makes you happy then I’m willing to die”
I felt the same way. It looked like Squirrelflight fully expected Hollyleaf to kill her and was welcoming her anyway.
I've had a talk with my grandmother about the topic involving family. She's lost, two children and the feeling she described was a piece being torn from her when they passed. She could feel them soaring away from her grasp, no matter how tight she held them. At the moment, Squirrelflight held Hollyleaf while she lost breath and, the flower disappeared through the air. It reminded me of our conversation, It's one of my highlights in my life now. I love the PMV by the way, the character designs are beautifully made and I'm fond of your art style!

I cant even describe how much I love this and the feeling it gives. I hadn't cried until the end where squirrelflight is holding Hollyleaf and she hums and maybe the soft sound that made me cry? But it's just so beautiful, like, wow. The feeling of losing someone who is family really hits deep, I felt like I have had my own moment just like squirrelflight when she lost holly. The music just brings it together and the way Hollyleaf was shown with her in a conflicted place, she was still bitter but this made her look a lot more soft? She really loved her momma squirrel. I understand she hated leafpool for a moment and was bitter towards squirrel but the way you portrayed hollyleaf and squirrelflights relationship with her just really butters my biscuit :)

I keep coming back to watch this because it’s just so beautiful, you can see her happiness and love she holds for her kits(they might not be born from her womb but they’ll always be her kits) and the relief of knowing they’re safe despite everything that’s happening
It's been years since I first saw this. Cried my heart out. Years later I always come back to this for a good cry, and a reminder that SquirrelFlight actually knew what she was getting herself in to, being the adoptive mother of her sister's kittens. The debate of offering Leafpool her help in the beginning, the giving in after seeing how desperate she is, and raising the kittens while silently breaking as she lied to her mate.
It's so captivating, the flowers remind me of the joy, the life of the cats and the dissipate as they either die or lose hope or become so caught up in grief or sadness. The fact that SquirrelFlight is always smiling despite her endless sobbing reminds me of myself, and I can't help but cry no matter how many times I re-watch this.
Absolutely stunning, a true masterpiece my friend.

I just realized that after watching this about 5 times I have not commented. Neri, this is phenomenal. The art style in the is absolutely gorgeous and bittersweet. I think my favorite parts in this are the part where Holly is leaping at Squillf while she is just smiling, almost like she is saying "whatever makes you happy" but then Holly gets Ashfur instead. I also really love the image right after that where Squillf is hugging Holly with tears in her eyes and a smile on her face. I also really love the flower symbolism. All of the designs in here are so beautiful too. Leafpools is so round and sweet and Squillfs is just SO FLUFFY AH. I love it so much. I also am kinda in love with the image of the kits playing together. Like, LIONKIT IS SO CUTE I WANNA SQUEEZE HIM THE LTTLE FLUFFBALL. Beautiful. Squirrelflight is such a strong character. She made bad choices, but she finally set things right in the end. One mistake cost her kits, her mate, and her clanmates everything. But she managed to face the challenge head on and to overcome it. The flower imagery made it unique. Amazing work everyone!

Ah, this is so beautiful. I really love the shading style you used for this, and the symbolism is so breath taking and the storytelling is so clear. This work makes me so emotional and proud, you captured all the scenes and in depth emotions that were not talked about in the books (but were most definitely there!) so accurately. I can’t get over this, this will forever be one of my favorite pieces of art. Squirrelflight’s smile is so warm and welcoming, when she started crying in the fire scene I got chills. This is amazing and I so look forward to seeing more.

oh my god. i've seen so many warrior cat animations, but this is the only one that actually made me almost cry. the music, the colors, everything is just so... powerful. ive watched this at least ten times and every time i get goosebumps. i honestly love this so much i cant express how happy i am i found this!! great job!

This really portrays the story, despite all of the hardships Squirrelflight goes through she has managed to smile during them. Showing that even when life is at it's worse, the most broken are the ones smiling.

I LOVE this so much! My favorite part is when Squirrelflight is smiling up at Hollyleaf but she pounces towards her. It looks like she's going to strike Squirrelflight but instead hits Ashfur and kills him. It shows Hollyleaf's rage and hatred for her foster mother and how she still loved her in a way, even though she couldn't stand her existence. She kills Ashfur in an attempt to silence him so Squirrelflight won't be punished (and neither her nor her siblings).

In this PMV, you showed that after everything they've been through, Squirrelflight still truly loved Hollyleaf as a mother would. You showed their relationship beautifully.
I love the fact that there's symbolism here, that's a really interesting touch!
And when Squirrelflight is finally relieved of the burden of hiding the truth, I love that there was flat color there. It really showed how relieved she was.
I almost got goose bumps when you showed Hollyleaf leaping at Squirrelflight, but getting Ashfur instead. I have never seen a PMV do that before.
In conclusion, before I go on and on about how absolutely amazing this is, this is a beautiful pmv. The song is perfect, and almost all the designs are exactly how I imagined most of them to be! Your art style gives me almost a disney vibe, that's how beautiful it is.
