- This video is on how United State's president is elected, what is US Congress, what does it comprises of, what is the difference between house of representative and Senate, what is electoral college, how it works and in the end I'll try to answer which is has more power - the House of Representatives or the Senate.

You not included "WINNER TAKES ALL" concept. It plays important role there.
Correction : From your video sir, it appears that US congress and Electoral college is same body. But these are different entities with Electoral college only meeting once in 4 years to elect president.
and Electoral college has 538 electors and thus majority mark is 538/2 +1 = 270.
"electoral college.... ...to elect the President" !! ??
@@ZQH7 Yes it's very complicated.
Yes, a big correction is required here. Congress has nothing to do with the election of Pres and VP. People vote for Electoral college and then electoral college vote for the President. The candidate getting the majority of Electoral College vote is declared as a Winner.
@@ZQH7 a body of electors are elected by the voters to elect the president.... or something like that.😅
Like those who want sir to make crash course on world history 🥰.
I just love and sometime envy Sengupta sir for explaining any topic in a very simple and conducive way. Hope, you go a long way, sir. I would just urge you to make videos on current issues more frequently.
This is what we are seriously waiting for sir..thank you so much🙏
I feel many parts are missing.
Requesting you make a more detailed video if possible.
Congress consists of 535 members But Electoral College consists of 538 members. (Washington D.C. = 3 seats which were not included in Congress. Washington being a capital of USA, not given right to participate in Congress but given Right to Participate in electoral college.) So, 538/2 =269.Therefore 270.
269 for president 270

Thank you so much for this video! It was extremely informative yet concise! I needed to brush up on my understanding of how voting works. A random note: your voice is very nice & easy to listen to!
Are you kidding? He didnt even touch how voting works here in the US. He just picked up at the Electoral College which really doesn't come into play into after the votes are made and counted. Exactly how the voting itself is done is up to (more or less) each state and often each district within each state. You can have a winner take all, ranked choice, it can be a real mess at times. But we get through it and despite what some in this country may try to say, we have a VERY low incidence of fraud but its still ranked pretty middle of the road when it comes to democracies around the world.
Excellent and thorough breakdown Amit! Thanks alot ❤️
Heres how it really works
Corporations, other politicians find someone who fits their agenda backs their campaign, brings em to public but ya only get 2 or 3 choices, they tell them what to say because to get most votes they go off cellphone, wifi data.they crunch that data use the info to seduce the public to get elected.then they get vote in.but because how the voting system work ya only get a few new guys in the bunch, but they are already a predetermined outcome because they used all the data to get them elected.
Then you get up in house and senate ya have to have 2/3 vote.so with a 2/3 vote barely anything thing gets passed.then ya get a elected president who doesnt win a majority of population vote in office.so their goes that voice of america.then they get all their baffoons in office and supreme court all back by someone with a ulterior motives.so then nothing gets done in senate at all bc its a 2/3 vote and they will not go against their own party.so all that voting was pretty much useless.ya can have the best president to ever step foot on the earth, but it really means jack shit when it all boils down to it because the senate is crap and theirs nothing ya can do about it but hope a meteorrite hits it while its in session.
The elections are a educated guess based off data.its kinda like if your car burns oil ya keep putting oil in it to drive it,thats how they treat the public.they look for their patterns and continously try to humor them and that means by all means necessary..thats how the election process works.
And if you think im incorrect.explain to me why att owns cnn the biggest democratic news source around.att is a cell phone and internet provider that pushes the democratic agenda.😂and id imagine fox news is backed by the nra and pro lifers and probably the vatican and evagelists of america.😂
Better explanation than you could get out of the American media or highschool graduates!

India too - Lower house(Lok Sabha) more power
@@naturelover4148 But compared to UK's India's lower house is less powerful

A little correction....it's not just 1st tuesday, but the Tuesday after 1st Monday......say for eg. If on 1st nov its Tuesday then election will not be held on 1st nov , but on 8th nov ie. Tuesday after the 1st monday (which is on 7th)
Thank you for not tagging this video for exams as most Indians only learn something for exams
My all time favorite... Amit sir🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍
Election takes place on 1st Tuesday after the 1st Monday in November. Which means if 1st November is on a Tuesday, even though its the 1st Tuesday in November, election will be held on 8th Nov, as it’s the 1st Tuesday after 1st Monday!
You read my mind. I wanted a video like this
It's like a shot video. But whole things are explained in details. Thanq sir. In 7 minutes I understood how donld trump loose the US presidential election and Joe biden win . Thanq very much sir...
Sir plzz cover ancient history the way you explain, is awesome.
Correction: Presidential nominations and the approval of appointments in the senate are the same thing. Another correction: Both the house and senate can draft bills it just happens in the house more often.
I found Senate equivalent to Rajya Sabha and House of Representatives equivalent to Lok Sabha, if I compare with Indian Parliament. Only thing is Rajya Sabha members are not directly elected by Aam Junta. Am I correct???
Mostly awaited video 🔥

Your explanation is so awesome man
Absolutely informative!
There is also a nomination process. The different political parties in the US can decide their rules for nominating a candidate. Each political party nominates one person to run for President. This is usually a governor, senator or congressman. However as we saw with the nomination of Donald Trump, it can also be a businessman. Anyone at all can be nominated if they are old enough, however usually they will need to have connections or already be important in government to be nominated. There are more than two political parties in the United States. The nomination process takes place with primary votes throughout the states. In the Democrat and Republican parties, the voters vote for who they want to be nominated and that person collects delegates. In some states it is an open primary where anyone can select any person to nominate but in others only registered voters in that party can pick delegates. Also the Democrat party has super delegates who can pick whoever they want, they are not backed by voters.
After this is complete, the nominated person from each political party runs in the presidential election. However, the voters still can vote for anyone. They can write in any name for president, the president doesn't have to come from who is nominated by the political parties, however this has never happened before where someone not nominated has one. The vote is a winner takes all election in most states. If you get 51% of the vote in that state, you get all electoral college votes. There are more parties than Republican and Democrat. Two of the most popular are Green party and Libertarian party.
nice and crisp, thats all we need.
I think electoral have to just elect the president and have no connection with congress
Also bring a video on election process of UK, sir
Just go to map men
Finally i got wonderful message
Sir please upload a video based on the difference between democratic and republican system.
Thnku for such lucid explanation sir 🙏
Sir ,plzz make a video on Bihar's election
Yes sir
Although very complete but still wanna keep listening to u.
love your explanation
Thank you sir
Thank you so much sir 🙏🙏🙏
But sir while we see ballot which is given to citizen, there are names of Presidential Candidates, which means US Citizen can directly vote for President.
Correction: Electoral college is different from US Congress.. electors are not the members of house of representatives or senate.. There are 538 electors in electoral college, while there are 535 members in US Congress.. each state gets the number of electors proportional to its Congress representation that makes 535 electors + 3 electors from capital Washington DC, that makes up 538 electors in total..
Sir please do video on artic amplification albedo impact on ice melting in artic circle ....
Excellent sir
Very difficult political series, did not understand at once, had to watch again
Thank you Amit Sir🙏
The composition of the electoral college constituted for electing the President of the United State needs relook. Sitting members of the legislative branch cannot simultaneously be a part of this electoral college. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Thankyou so much sir!🙏
Thank you very much sir! Stay blessed ...
Nice explaination amit Ji.....
I really don't know how a person can hit unlike
nice video my teacher showed me this video helped me learn a lot
Can u please elaborate the whole process From political parties to President election
Informative..as always
Correction the electoral collage does not decide VP the presidential nominee decides a running mate then if they win the become president and VP
U missed a lot in this video.
1. Start requirements to be part of process.
A. Born Citizen
B. Min age 35
C. US resident 15 yrs min.
2. Primary and caucuses.
3. National convention
4. General Election
5. Debate
6. Election
Also u missed 3 seats from DC... MAKES TOTAL 538 / 2 = 269 therefore number 270..
Also EC is percentage driven means winner take all votes of state therefore states marked as red or blue and not county inside states.
I think it is incomplete please explain the electoral college and who are the electors, winner takes all and on what basis the electors are numbers population or size?
Well explained
Sir then why do they say "american president is chosen through people directly"?
