To make it more realistic in my opinion I think that you could change the height on some of the trees to make some taller and some short and stubby just to add some variety!

Trees are a great upgrade just wish they were slightly wider closer to the base and taper to the top so they don't look like straight cylinders

I was showing my wife parts of this video and she is a fan of your Main Street and all the lights. Small town main streets are the best. I’m enjoying watching this small town grow. Those new trees add more detail with the height. My wife and I love small towns. I’ll be buying the fire truck instructions. Very nice build and awesome update.

The city looks awesome. Re the trees, mix some different greens as well perhaps? Pop in one or two birs or a squirrel? But regardless, this is awesome.

Amazing. Looks fantastic.
However, I feel that the pet shop modular really kind of stands out, even amongst the other Lego modulars you have chosen. I think it is the roof. It looks too European for an American street. Maybe consider rebuilding the just the roof to a flatter, more North American style, but somehow still retain the small windows that make the building unique.
Just to be clear, your city still looks incredible even with the pet shop as is. Thank you for sharing your city Lego skills on CZcams.

Love your channel! Will definitely be snagging some of your lighting kits somewhere far down the road once my city fully MILS’d up.
Is there a reason you don’t switch out the dark blueish grays from the original modular sidewalks for light blueish gray? IMO it provides better contrast / cleaner delineation between road and sidewalk to have it all light blueish gray. Also IMO trees are too far from the curb, they should be right up 1 stud from the curb since they’re kind of blocking where mini figs would walk, and cause that’s how it is in real towns.

Mazda miatas are a very fun car to drive. Love how small and well balanced they are, it will make a great moc.

I didn't design the moc, I tried a bit, but I just couldn't get it right and there was already a really good looking one so I bought the instructions and ordered some pieces as well as used a ton from a donor Ferrari as I had 2 lol

That's the one thing that the new Lego road plates do over the previous... makes the city pop and feel alive at night when illuminated! It's like it just finished raining 10 mins ago and you get that reflective sheen from the blacktop. Beautiful! 😄
Oh I agree I love it. You can get that look from brick built roads also. But the more I play around with these new plates I like them more and more. Especially with all the advangetages they provide with doing lighting and hiding wires.
Cant wait until the next update! Hope to see the old ball park or water tower so consistent with small town America.
I love both those ideas, I have 2 water rowers I designed but not sure where to place one of them. Also still not 100 percent happy with my design on them.

@davidwest7443 the police car is a modified moc from ToTo on rebrickable. The fire truck and white sedan are my mocs

I agree with you about the small town vibe especially with me being born and raised In a historical southern small town in Georgia
Georgia has so many great small towns. I miss gilmer county where I use to go as a kid and stay with my grandparents in the summer. Was such a great place growing up.

Kind of feels like Blue Valley from Stargirl, when I get the chance to construct my own city Im going to try to incoporate a bunch of 6 wide cars; I made one little old Buick and ordered the parts for it. Love how your cars light up pretty much instantly. The little blue vacation car is Fantastic
Thanks, everything I use for lighting I sell on my website. To do the cars I use modular building connectors built into the new road plates. So the entire city and cars all stay completely modular.
Like you I love the 6 wide cars but they can be a pain to get the shapes right. But I always felt the 8 wide are entirely to large when you compare them to lego buildings.

Wow I had to subscribe just to see where you take this. Those lights are amazing and the way you've made the system work is genius, but I'm sure it also took a lot of effort. I feel like the lights on the Palace Cinema make it twice a better set than without lights. They add so much!

It is SO satisfying to see the building light up as soon as you slide it into place. These magnetic connectors are game changers. Also, your fire engine design is great! Is that your first Fire Apparatus MOC?
Thanks my friend, Im a lighting junkie lmao, for the fire truck yes that is my first attempt and I have been saving and looking at others techniques for a while to get ideas on how to best build them.
Those trees definitely look much better, I wonder if you've ever contemplated making some real large oldschool elms that one may see on some of the old residential roads. I know one of the roads here in our town that dates back to the late 1800s has rows and rows of elms and it's one of my favorite roads to drive down for that reason.
That's a great idea. You dont really see Elm Trees anymore after the dutch elm tree disease killed so many of them off

Fantastic work. I just finished my initial layout (tour video on profile) and right now using craft AA LED lights. I have to use multiple units so I am studying your system to see if this would work better and be more effective to light each structure uniquely.
Never heared of craft lights, or do you mean you buy them at the craft store ? To me my system is the best but, I designed it so my opinion is biased 😀
@@BevinsBricks you know those Walgreens or craft store lights you see seasonally around Halloween and Christmas? They usually run around $5-$7 each. I used quite a few.

Nice video. Also I believe you on the best memories come from a small town if you grew up in one which I have my whole life. I have lost a bunch of friends I had through my time of doing on-line high school over some pretty low things while all the friends I have either made or still have today come from a small town thats only minutes from me. Only one of my friend's I have is originally from out of state and even with that we are still friends even though we no longer work together.
Small towns are awesome, they are a lot more community driven, plus being a huge fan of old arcitechture you never need to look to far for inspiration. :)

Thanks, i have been trying to get that small town feel. Using HO scale train displays as inspiration. As for the updated mils plates it is simply just replacing the exsisting technic brick with my magnetic brick. But it does depend on the road with you use. I do plan to make instructions available also on using the new road plates like I am doing.
It could be funny if you made a reason why there’s so many police in the city. Maybe there’s a building on fire, and the police are looking for the arsonist, while fire trucks/ambulances are heading to the fire.
Thats a great idea, maybe I should place a criminal in all black or black and white stipes hiding in a alley :)

And as for the trees, I think you should use some matt leaf pieces so they're not that shiny. The road also looks like it's wet when the lights are out because of the reflections, but I don't think that's a bad look particularly, just a feature of the road plates.
The trees will be getting redone once my lego order arives, I love the shiny look myself as it gives everything a fresh rained on look 😀

I totally agree with the updating of the downtown trees, what do you think about making the bottom branches stick out slightly more than those above? to avoid looking too cylindrical
Thanks, I plan to tweak them once I get more parts, may even move them all forward 2 studs also as several have suggested as well.
you know if you could put old phone inside palace cinema where many minifig can watch the movie with little charger and it can either netflix disney+ hulu or anything they can see at cinema maybe
Currently I have a slow color changing led light shining on the wall in the theatre , but I love your idea and have considered doing something like that for say a drive inn :)

Looks incredible Daryl. I love the trees, but I will say they look quite strange being in the middle of the sidewalk. In my experience trees are almost almost right on the edge of the curb. If you moved them it might give the buildings some breathing space which is needed imo. Either way love the content. Keep it up 👍
I had thought that as well, but like the picture example I showed the lights are set up closer than the trees, same way in my town. I may try and bring them forward when I rebuild all the trees with bright green as I also have a few more spots I want them placed but ran out of parts.
Could you use your lighting system to have a mini gig holding a torch/flashlight? Be amazing if you could.
Absolutely, anything is possible with lighting. I add new products all the time to my site and plan to add flashlights and cameras soon. 😀

What is happening to those traffic lights? They were flickering the entire time. I'm guessing some of it was connecting the buildings, but not sure on the other times.
This looks so good and I love it. Also, if you need inspiration for a small town feel, check out the area around Ionia Michigan.
The lights flash everytime they change. Its the way the controller Im using functions. Trying to find a better option. As for inspiration yes Ionia is great but so is my hometown Tecumseh :)

Ionia popped to mind as that's fairly close by and it is a rather pretty area, especially downtown.
I also noticed it seems to skip yellow when cycling to red. Then goes red, yellow, green. I don't think that's how it functions IRL, right?

4:04 the trees are depens also where you lived. mine street still have young small tree types with less leave. i never see to grown and i live now for 10 years. yeah i did made photo's because around 8 years ago they did rework on mine street and also mine house. so i have before and after shots. i am not complain that you give bigger trees but still it depens of taste and the place where you live.
Well every small town Ive lived in including my current town all have large trees. 40 years ago before dutch elm diseas took most trees from city streets pretty much all towns had huge beautiful elm trees. I personally think the small trees look great dont get me wrong. But a tree should be more that only 5 bricks taller than a person.
Why use the magnets and friction pins when the pins work fine on their own? No hate, looks great! Just curious
The magnets are how all the lighting is connected and powers each building. So you dont have a huge wiring mess. I make and sell the magnetic connectors on my website.
or maybe drive through theater were they park their car to watch the movie by attach the speaker on either side like in grease movie in the 80s

Great work so far, I'm particularly excited that it's going to be an American city, I'm from Germany.
Here's an example of a great German Lego city, you can definitely get a few ideas there, straight trees and plants, this city is built super realistically.
