- Women are smart enough to know what their own limits and comfort levels are; they don't need to be told by someone else what their own personal style should and shouldn't be.
Life is too short to be letting other people decide what your style should be. You deserve the freedom to wear whatever the hell you want at any age! Heck, have you ever seen departments in a store say....Only for women over 50??.....ps, you are too old to be looking at any other area of the store?? Nope! There is only one reason there are so many choices out there......because we are all individuals who have different styles and like different things! Bam!
✅ My channel focuses on helping to empower women in their own fashion journey!

Imagine if all women supported each other. Wow. What a force we would be!
Yes! Instead of competing? Women are powerful when we are together.
I totally agree with the above 2 comments 👏🏻🤩‼️ Nice video Angela🥰 Looking forward to your upcoming videos during 2024😊 Happy New Year 🎆 to you and your family - wishing you much success 🍀💚🎶😊
You got yourself a new subscriber just from the title. 🎉🎉🎉
I totally agree. Wear what you love and make you feel good.
You got that right!
This attitude applies to wig wearing also. It is daunting to step out of a so-called comfort zone (super thin hair,) and embrace alternative hair and not be worried about reactions of others comments and criticisms. Thanks, Angela, more people need to adopt your attitude.
I agree. I have no problem throwing on a wig when I go out.
Nobody cares or even notices. People are so self centered they can't possibly notice anyone else. I had a wig store in the early 2000's. It was very popular then, probably even more so now.
My teenage daughter loves wearing a wig and it looks fabulous! ❤️
@@leghornlifegood for her!! The Kardashian family (not a fan 😆) definitely helped make it more acceptable for younger woman. However, my grown daughters made fun of me when I started wearing them. Now there’s no stopping me!!! And my husband loves it!
Definitely! I have felt judgment, and praise. When I tell someone who is loving my hair, they are usually shocked. But where I live (NH) it’s not a common thing to wear wigs like it would be in the city, or maybe the south. I have plenty of hair but it’s extremely frizzy. If there’s one ounce of moisture in the air it goes nuts. Menopause is not kind 🤷♀️ Thank you for your comment 🥰
I absolutely love this video- I’m 77 and don’t like the “old lady” clothes I’m supposed to wear-I try to stay current but not crazy- I have a friend who’s 81 and she dresses funky and looks fabulous because it just fits her! This is such great advice, thanks Angela
I’m with you, feeling the same at 76!
same at 72 !@@lindacurrie6998
Me too...I am also 77
Me too...I am also 77
I have a friend in her 2:53 90's and dresses decades younger. She is petite and cute.
I've been preaching this same sermon on my channel for 10+ years! Fashion, makeup, lifestyle..you name it. Age is just a number and the only reason I show my age and talk about it (80) is because I want to prove it! I no longer even click on videos that suggest how I should look or what is trendy or how not to be frumpy….great video! Patti
I am with you Patti! I don't have a problem letting everyone know my age. I am not ashamed of it. We are all getting older, no one gets around that. Why not just embrace it! 😊👍🏻
My Son came to see me at work one day and I said "how do you like my new shoes?" He said "No." A co-worker that heard this interaction immediately came up to me after my Son had left and said "I like your new shoes." Seriously I think it hurt my co-worker, it meant nothing to me that my Son didn't like the shoes, cause I bought them for me, not him 😊👍
Exactly! The great thing once I turned 50 is I could care less what anyone thinks about me. Lol.
Oh yeah, turning 50 is a amazing blessing! I am with you. It's like a switch goes off.
I love shopping my closet spans from 1960 -2024 ❤
Nice! And just think that there are women going to the thrift stores trying to find those pieces from earlier decades! 😊
European women, particularly the French, possess an extremely healthy vanity. Their fashion sense is always classic and classy. They don’t preen themselves in front of a mirror all day, let alone stress about what makes them happy. They are too confident to be navel-gazers. They eat smaller, healthier portions and walk everywhere. They have a true “jois de vive.” It’s a sin to leave the house looking sloppy. If they are pressed for time, a big pair of sunglasses, a scarf, and a fabulous shade of lipstick works wonders. They celebrate every decade of life and embrace their old age. They never obsess about plastic surgery. We Americans can learn a lot from our sisters across the pond.
It's so liberating to be yourself and not care what others think about you!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! As women, many of us are guilty of judging other women for how they dress. I say, dress how you want, how you feel most comfortable.
Couldn't agree more with you when you said "Life's too short for all this baloney." Your personal style is a direct reflection of your personality. Individuality rules.
No one does you like you. Being brave enough to be exactly who you are (and to dress in what you like) is what will bring out your real beauty.
I graduated from high school in '72. I had this awesome black coat that my mom wore in the 40s (The New Look). Nipped in waist, lapels, cashmere. I wore it to school and the looks and comments were God awful. My mom gave the best advice ever:
"If you feel glamourus, chic and just plain good, wear it! Especially if it flatters your figure." She never hid hers even when she got heavy.
Wish I still had that coat or soemthing like it!!! She was also a big one for wearing colors. No pastels.
Angela, this is one of your best videos! Your message is heard… and much appreciated. Thank you.
Wow, thank you Tina! 😊
I like the fact that just being yourself, will never go out of style.
59 y/o here 🙋♀️! I wear wigs and the clothes I want. In fact I just bought myself my first pair of black Dr marten boots! I was so self conscious about fitting in when I was younger and always trying to look like everyone else. Fashion is so disposable these days! I love to over-dress a little for the occasion, including work, but now I’m embracing that it’s just who I am. I work in the service industry and try to always find a kind word or compliment for other women. Whether it be how they present themselves or their kindness. What a great video, Angela!! 😘
I also love to over dress but not to an extreme. But at home it's all comfy house/yard work appropriate.
I’m 62 and I love doc martens. I even wear them to church with a dress. They’re fab!
Love this!! Who wants to walk into a room and look like everyone else? Boring!😂❤️
Thank you. Im closing in on 80 but i cant wear those new clingy clothes, or cut my hair a certain way. Comfy with who I am is the best way to live. 😊
Absolutely!! 😊👍🏻
Have you tried the Lands End Starfish pants and their whole Starfish line (basically I love Lands End)? They have really wide stretchy waistbands (elastic waistbands but you can't tell) and have a ponte fabric, they look like dress pants but they are really stretch pants. I wear them every day at home but from their reviews, people wear them to the office and out and about. They are really nice and stand up for years. They go on 50% sale all the time.
Happy New Year! Yes! Everyone has their own style, wear what you like. I won’t wear anything that is uncomfortable, life is too short. So sick of hearing what is out of style, a lot of people love vintage clothing so just do your thing!
A lady that was in the grocery store was with her husband and they were both very well dressed, came up to me and said “ You look great, love your outfit “ I was so happy to hear that. I was wearing a cream outfit with a cream beret. Very simple but it was comfortable to me. I put together outfits the night before so after I shower I know what I’m going to wear…❤ love the video!
I try to be presentable when I go to the grocery store. It doesn't take that much effort and it makes you feel good. I also make it a habit to compliment strangers when presented with the opportunity.
This was an amazing video! We as women should always build each other up! Thank you so much for spreading the word!
I love this video on so many levels! I’ve always believed that one of the benefits of getting older, is coming to a place where you are confident in being 100% YOU! It feels good to be your authentic Self. Doesn’t that make the world such an interesting place full of interesting people?!!
Well said !! 👏 Imagine how boring life would be if we were all the same . Loved this ❤.
Yes. Wear what you feel comfortable in and what flatters you. Understanding your personal style will help you achieve that. I try on all of my clothes each season and I become enlightened at the clothes that still look amazing on me and the ones that I say "What was I thinking?" Thanks for this video, Angela.
Thank you for promoting the stopping of judging others and letting us be who we are and not what we wear❤
I love watching the fashion over 50 videos here on CZcams ( including your videos!) but so many do not apply to my lifestyle. Thank you, Angela, for pointing out that we can dress for ourselves and our lives and feel good about it! Looking forward to seeing you in 2024!
I have a bladder disease that causes intense pelvic pain. I have given up wearing pants with a zipper and button..... and I wear mostly leggings and longer tops and dresses. I love sweatshirt dresses with tights because my legs are my best feature. I also will not wear shoes that are not perfectly comfortable. I wore high heels for so many years that hurt my feet, and those days are GONE. What I do love is accessories, scarves, cute jewelry, etc!
I love this attitude! I am 66, 5'10" and dress very young. My grown daughters, their friends, my gal pals, and apparently a few men according to my boss's observations, all love my youthful style. I know what looks good on me and will dress fun including tall leopard print boots as long as I feel good about my style.
Yes! We need to stop judging other women for their clothes, make-up, bodies, choices, etc. It feels so automatic sometimes, but I am trying.
STRIPED EYESHADOW!!!!!! Me too! I was so hip! I was the girl who wore her own thing. Now I wear very conservative clothes :D. Thanks for your channel. And more puppy please!
Preach it sister!! Angela, you are spot on !
Go, Angela! We are intelligent, informed, and we can have fun and be creative and get better at it the more we try!
Amen!
Happy New Year Angela!🎉🥳 You are totally in the right frame of thinking. What a well thought out video! You’re talking my kind of language. I never try to be someone I’m not…I just stick to being my own person, and feel confident in my style of dress…no matter what people think of me! Love your take on how we as women need to support each other, how just having our own unique style matters, and to be free to wear what we want and how we want! Two thumbs up for this one! ❤️👍👍🙌
Oh my gosh, YESSSSSS… I’ve been saying this for quite some time… Your title fired me up, in a good way that is… lol I’ve seen some creators making video’s telling us NOT to wear this or that, it truly makes me mad and this is from creators I like… teehee At my age pushing 60 I still want to look cute, darn it… Thank you, thank you, thank YOU for this video, I’m buckled up buttercup and ready for the ride this 2024… ❤❤❤
Happy New Year Angela! This is an excellent video! I have always been different from everyone else that I associated with. I was my own trendsetter. I loved outfits that didn't go over well with others. I loved the long dresses and now with the tiered dresses. I have always loved fashion. Now 66 and retired, not outside as much so I don't do a lot of dressing up anymore. I decided that this summer I will be wearing what I want again and could care less about what others say!
Buckle up ladies for being Authentic, and who you are in 2024!! Thx for finally verbalizing our Style Authenticity...Just go for it ladies!
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Where what makes you,YOU! Good on you Angela! ❤❤ You are such a fun and kind person! Wearing what we like makes us happiest, I think! Thanks Angela. I am going to wear what I like, no matter what others may think! I am getting too old to care, and young enough to have fun with my fashion style!
Amen! It’s been so annoying seeing these videos telling women what’s not “on trend” and what to throw out. This is refreshing!
Dear heart, I so agree. I had to dress to suit my parents, then two different husbands, even my daughters. I’ll be 73 next month and a few years back I decided I’d wear what I wanted, wear my hair the way I wanted etc. I let labeled as someone who wants a lot of attention but I don’t really. There are ladies at my church that I thought was at least 10 yrs older than me but I found out I was the old woman!😅. I try to keep up with my makeup, hair and modern style of clothes ( as well as I can afford and being a southern country old lady). Anyway when I’m out and about I let other ladies know they look beautiful or make sure to encourage them or anything to make them feel good about themselves. I grew up being made fun of at school and different church people, which of course is wrong! You do cute and fun videos so keep it up. 😊❤
Thanks Angela, well said!! I always wear what I like and what I feel suits my body.
I decided this at the end of last year! I am wearing what I like and wheat is comfortable.
Amen, girl! Thank you for this one!
Angela, you and I have something in common. I too moved from California to Michigan as a sophomore….except 20 years before you did. I will never forget walking into high school with my Cher hair (very long and very straight) while the Michigan girls were wearing the “bubble.” All the girls wore angora sweaters and I didn’t own one. It really traumatized me and it has taken me years and you to understand that I was just being myself and that is ok. No more do I care what others think about how I dress and I only wish I had developed that attitude years sooner.
Love this post. I’m going to do it. No looking back. I’m going to bling to my heart’s content at 67. Hold on tight because here I come 🤭☺️❤️🥰. By the way thanks for my Bentley fix today ❤️🥰❤️
I love everything you said. I also noticed when I moved back to Texas from Cali, most people here don't change much and always wear the same thing.
I loved this episode!! You spoke very wise words! Thank you for speaking out on this issue. It needed to be said. - Belinda
My mom always said I came out owning my ideas on Fashion. I would spend hours pouring through the fashion magazines and trying to figure out how I could get my hands on the same clothes. So I wore my mom's velvet midi skirt or her black "toredor"pants. I was considered weird but eventually they understood that I had style. Still the same way fifty years later, interpreting the current style to reflect "me".
I appreciate your apology! At first I thought it was a joke since telling women what and what not to wear is the premise of your channel 😂🤷🏼♀️
Thank you for this one. Courage Ladies! Just do You.
Im glad you said that, like i still like my skinny jeans, but i also like wide legs too! Which I've had since early 2000's Lol! They came back around.
Thank you! This was great. Years ago when I was young, I saw an older lady at a upper class mall wearing the craziest outfit I had ever seen and she walked with such confidence and demeanor. It was beautiful. And from that point on that’s exactly what I said, “wear what makes you feel good” thanks for sharing. In such a way to make us feel so confident. Can’t wait to see you in 2024 frames. Happy new year.
Great advice Angela! I’m 73 and I always tried to find the trends that made me feel great. I went for black and white for a while and realized it wasn’t me. Color with simple design is for me.
No photos it didn't happen!! 😂 I can just picture that madonna look! It reminds me of the early 80s when I bought a skinny tie that looked like a piano keyboard. I think I wore it with a white oxford cloth shirt. Or what about my early to mid 70s look of wool plaid skirts, knee socks, and fair isle sweaters! Or all those Izod polo shirts with the alligator on it. Nearly everything I owned in the late 70s had an Izod alligator on it. I even had a plush one sitting on the rear window ledge in my 2 door sport Sedan! All I want to wear now is a sundress and flip flops... so I need to nice to the Villages!! 😊
Yes! I have always dressed to make me happy and feel confident! Luv bright colors cuz they make me happy! We need to live our best lives!! Enjoy ur life y'all!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Yes finally ,we can wear whatever we want cuz we are all different 💖 and don’t need to follow all the trends . As long as we are comfortable and confident 😊
ROTFL!!! TY for that. I've been thinking about that for a very long time. I've never been on trend with fashion. I wear the styles I want and the colors that I want whenever I want and NOT when and what they tell me to.
I totally did the same eyeshadow look! 1986 in Montana.
With all that FREEDOM comes more importantly the responsibility of SELF RESPECT. How we represent ourself to the world. Being decently dressed is just a part of that.
So healing 😌 Going to watch this several times.
I always appreciate the ladies that dress their personal style. I am a very simple dresser, clean lines, simple…so I love to see ladies that are brave enough to wear what they love. The funny thing is they completely pull it off❣️So even though it’s not for me I support those choices for others!🥰
Thank you! Your advice is refreshing and encouraging! I am always worried about other people's opinions. My mom's favourite saying was: "What will people think!"
I decided when I turned 50 three years ago I no longer gave a 💩 what anyone thought of my hair or clothes. The truth is, at this age you ARE invisible to most of society anyway, so you might as well have a damn good time before you can’t anymore!
You are just so awesome ❤full of info, stories, and just plain Ole goodness. You make me laughe😂, smile, and sets the tone for a good day...🌺 and Bently...what can I say , heart full of squishes❤ ...
Have a day as beautiful as you are🌼🌷
I wore the Madonna clothes too plus fish nets that my mother finally got rid of 😂 it was fun . Dress what makes you feel good but within limits lol
Thank you!!! Well said. The same thing happens in almost every part of our lives.
I agree with you 100% Angela.
Love this! You are one of my favorite fashion channels. Not only do you have great style ideas, but your positive and inclusive attitude about fashion is so uplifting for all women and it really shines through in your videos. Thank you for leading by example of what a great fashion influencer should be.
Love the video and positive comments. After retiring in January 2020, I felt something was missing especially during the pandemic, so I adopted three words to describe my style -- classic, modern and elevated every day. So, yes, even though I'm going to the grocery store, I plan my outfit carefully -- complete with jewelry, bag and coat. At the same time, I don't expect my fellow retirees to dress the same. Elevated every day is just for me. Love to you Angela and all the fabulous women who embrace your words.
I really needed to hear this. I really get wrapped up in what others think.
Great story about your high school outfits!
Love your video Angela!!!...thank you❤
Omgosh, we need a pic of your first day in Michigan!! Thanks for this message!
Having an opinion is fine - using that opinion to hurt or shame someone is not. We are a judgmental society, so thinking that we will suddenly stop doing that, while a wonderful goal, is unrealistic. I just hope we can learn to keep our opinions to ourselves, unless asked, and even then, voice it in a way that is constructive and not destructive.
Preach !! 🙌. At 70, trust me when I say that your biggest regret will not be living your life on your own terms. People who criticize you are revealing more about themselves.
I don't know if I have been in style or out of style. I have always worn what I think looks good on me and will stand the test of time. I do look at the current trends, and quite frankly, that would be a heck no. I buy fewer clothes and try to buy good quality fabrics. My clothes last a very long time, and when I change my clothes over for the different seasons, it is like welcoming back old friends. That works for me, but many of my friends prefer to spend less (in the end they spend more) and be able to indulge in the latest trends. Whatever makes you happy is what any of us should do.
All those exciting, crazy things you described ARE my COMFORT ZONE. I don't do plain. I love color/pattern/themes. I love to do matchy outfits where the accessories mimic the main outfit. My winter outfit is completely dark pink, from the quilted, embroidered coat, to the long, soft scarf wirh a fringe to the hat, purse and shoes. I've had so many compliments from strangers. To me, my outfits are personal art. I'm retired so l have time to do it.
Yes, I agree wholeheartedly!! Last year I bought all kinds of really nice sweaters boots, and guess what I always gravitate to my sweatshirts and hoodies and tennis shoes. With my jeans 57 year old is living life the way she wants.
Spot on! I love this video! I love fashion, but I don't want to look like everyone else. When we see others wearing something we wouldn't wear, we should smile and say, "You go, girl!" What works for one person doesn't work for everyone.
"Mean, unhappy, people"...have said this often and it helps... it certainly helps.
I’m so glad I found yr Chanel, I love yr sense of humour and just everything about you! I’m an Ausie a tad older than you and I find that you are fun and uplifting with great advice! Please keep on, sending love 👍🏻💕
Well said. This is why I watch.
Thank you so very much..I was beginning to feel unhappy in all my clothes to the point of crying when getting dressed.❤❤❤from a Indiana girl living on the Virginia Tennessee line
Being 62 ..this takes a big sadness off of me...hugs precious friend..and happy new year to Bentley and all the family and your villages florida family...❤❤❤
You are a breath of fresh air. Thank you….keep it up.
I totally agree i have my style and thats it
Thank you for saying this. We do need to be more supportive of each other. Good for you for speaking the truth. As long as we are respectfully covered what does it matter.
❤ 🎉 thanks for sharing Mr Bentley. 😊
Well said!
Awesome and encouraging video!
Happy New Year Angela and Amen to all you said!!!😊😊😊😊☀️☀️☀️
Happy New Year Love the video
Lol ..this video title..love it! the world wants to mold us into their image.
Love this message!!!
My confidence is all matters to ❤
I moved from NY to PA my Sophomore year (1978). I was dressed "Disco Glam". They were all wearing flannel shirts and jeans. I totally understand your story. That's when I learned I didn't mind standing out in a crowd. If I think I look good, I don't really care what others think. The older I get the less I care.
Thank You !!! I totally agree !!! Happy New Year 🎉
I absolutely loved this video! ♥
Love this!! I was the "hippie" girl in HS!
🎉hooray! My gosh, THANK YOU! Been criticized for years for wearing heels and loving it. I ain't takin it no more! 😂
Amen!
Thank you!!!!
What a great video! I so agree with you! We need to be true to ourselves! ❤
Bentley looks so cutexxx❤
