retired professional card cheat here, i used to pull tricks in backroom poker for about 28 years, only reason i stopped being a cheat is because a drunk guy (a scam i called drowning whale, me and buddies act like we never met before, get a big spender so drunk he forgets if he won or lost then just claim hes losing to take his money) i got stabbed 12 times in the liver and needed a liver transplant because turned out, this guy was violent when drunk, on the plus side since i could prove the game was a normal game (since there was no tricks used) i managed to get awarded compensation from the guy by the court, and he got 10 years in prison, i walked away with 80k and a new liver
edit: i started out on 5 card draw in backroom poker, and quickly got the name "hickock" due to my unusually high percent of aces and eights, and to this day there are some backroom clubs across europe that will talk highly of me, i know theres one in italy that has an annual "deadwood" game (deadwood is where wild bill hickock was shot dead, his hand he was holding was aces and eights), where the best card cheats play in a tournament
