The Delhi dam in Iowa was a privately owned dam, homeowners refused to pay for repairs. One day it failed, they lost their lakefront property. They whined to the government, who refused to fix it. A very rare good call by Iowa government.

privately owned by who? If it is a corporation, why should the homeowners pay for repairs?
      I'm confused.
Now crying to the government, that is hilarious. Because if it was privately owned, the government has nothing to do with any of it, and too bad so sad.

@@spamlessaccount I don't think insurance covers things like this
Nobody owns the water and at the same time everyone owns the water
But how would you insure against the possibility of the position of the water line changing ? Sure... flood damage
      But not receding water

The federal government owns the water. Or believes that they do.

@@oftin_wong It's not about owning the water, it's about your property losing value since it's no longer waterfront. Like I said though, I have no idea whether insurance would cover that...just a guess.

@@spamlessaccount so it seems you can insure your property against a dive in market value occuring but the premiums are so high that it's often not utilised by consumers.
