Richard gives a mentored trader training session on trading strategies for volume and market profiles. This session covers the difference between high volume and low volume areas versus volume nodes. These can both act as support and resistance as well as targets, but with subtle difference when reading and interpreting. Richard notes that he likes using these market identifiers on longer time frames and during fast moves. Both of these cases tend to give stronger reaction points.
High volume nodes are typically in play when a market seems to stop in the middle of nowhere, while low volume nodes often coincide with previous highs and lows and can sometimes be found sandwiched between high volume nodes and areas. On the other hand, support and resistance can be harder to determine within high and low volume areas. In these cases we often see markets clear through the area. Low volume areas tend to fill it out with high volume and time spent chopping around within, and vice versa for high volume areas.
