In this deep clean with me, I tackled my DISGUSTING bathroom! It has not been cleaned since we first moved in, so I showed it some love today, decluttered the shelves, downsized my products, organized the storage closet to make room for linens, then deep cleaned the entire bathroom. It was 2 days straight of cleaning & organizing, but I hope you enjoy this first clean with me of 2024!

thank you for showing the reality of what can happen to the spaces around you when you get into a bit of a slump! i recently saw a post on tumblr that talked about reframing "chores" as self care tasks, that taking care of the spaces around you is an act of self care, especially cleaning and organising! and i know you resent the space; i kinda feel that way about my current rental situation; but it won't be like this forever! and i'm sooo looking forward to seeing how your bathroom changes over time, it's gonna be so satisfying to watch you rip up that old ass linoleum!!!
it definitely is an act of self care! it’s like neglecting a part of yourself/procrastinating! it never feels good 😂 but ripping up the bathroom in the future will feel REALLY good lol

Yes I feel like that as well , I had to move into my moms basement and I hate it here and I hate cleaning it
@@crycowgirlcryReframe it as an opportunity to make some nice decor & organisation choices, to make it your own. My studio apartment looks nothing like when I moved in. Itwas tired, dark & dingy decor. It's now cosy, organised & feels spacious: & I spent v little apart from a can of paint , a blind & some wall pics.
ooh maybe a cute lil bathroom area rug (with a short pile for easy cleaning) could cover those stains until you renovate! then it'll also be cozier and cuter and you won't have to look at the stains all the time! also i'm a huge proponent of "don't wait til the space is perfect to start decorating" (thanks caroline winkler!) and i think a rug, maybe like one piece of art on the wall and maybe a plant (even fake) would really help the space feel nicer until you can renovate :) just food for thought! really enjoyed this clean with me! great job

A really helpful mindset for me with regard to the ugh stuff in my home is “Care creates contentment”. Deep cleans, regular maintenance really does help me appreciate the things that serve me.
As a home birth midwife, you’d be surprised at how many towels we go through! Especially if it’s a water birth. We use all sizes too, regular, hand, and wash cloths. I will say don’t worry too much about using “nice towels” because we are good at getting blood and meconium stains out of all the towels!
You need a huge washable rug for that bathroom until it is redone. Our bathroom has broken grout and tile, so we slapped a ruggable in there until we can redo it. Make it feel cleaner at the very least for your feets.
Beautiful job! ❤ Maybe try adding some greenery to the bathroom. Like a plant of some sort. It instantly adds a touch of beauty to spaces that we’re not that fond of.
You’re gonna want more towels than you think queen, birth is MESSYYYYY and they’re used for everything! Def agreeing with everyone saying get a bathroom rug that’ll def make you feel better than looking at a tragic linoleum floor!! Truly what were people thinking when they created that awful stuff 🤣🤣
Hey Meg! My husband and I (along with our toddler) moved into a fixer upper in 2022 - the bathroom was in very similar state as yours. Even if it’s a temporary fix, spending a few hundred dollars on paint and decor can really be a lifesaver when it comes to making a space feel more homey until a bathroom renovation is feasible. Maybe under the sink you could take off the door, cut off the wood next to the door and put up a cute curtain? You can also paint linoleum with Rustolium paint!!Love the house updates!

I really appreciate the “this is real, this is me” vibe. Our bathroom is also awaiting renovation (well, it was never finished) and I totally get the feeling of resentment and not feeling up to keeping it clean. Love the vid, some great ideas. Thank you! ❤
Well, this made me realize part of why I struggle so much to find any motivation to clean my bathroom. It's so real though that seeing it dirty/unorganized makes the resentment of the stupid space grow even more. I definitely need to keep this in mind moving forward.

I’m not sure about returning lush pots online. But they now do a dollar off per pot so you can use it toward herbalism instead of a mask! But you can definitely still do the free mask for five cleaned out pots:)
I think if you cover the heater with like a cute fabric it would make the space look more decorated 😊
be careful keeping the heating pad! the mice could have peed on it and it can make the wiring dangerous
I wouldn't keep linens and toilet roll in there if there's mice.....
they aren't in there anymore! this was all cleanup after being gone like 2.5 weeks

Did you go through and see if things are expired? (Supplements and medicines) We did recently and were surprised at how much was expired 😅

The thought of deep clean is always so daunting, but once you get to it, it's so rewarding! Love the little skincare & bath to treat yourself afterwards 😌

Stuff steel wool in cracks/tiny holes in the back and bottom your closet that had mice access. They hate it, and it may keep them out of your linen closet. Good luck!

I loved this video! It was such good cleaning motivation. Also I know the transition period of reno can be tough but maybe a fun rug and shower curtain would help you feel better about the space. It has good bones! 💕💕
Girllllllllllll I couldn’t relate MORE to a statement. I moved into my house 1.5 years ago and only cleaned my primary bathroom like 3times because I hate it so much! I get pissed every time I’m in it and get so annoyed but FINALLY getting it renovated which I feel will be more encouraging lol. I feel you and not judging!

22:08 where did that big crawl out of? Maybe under the mirror on the wall?? But I’m enjoying your nesting cleaning. Might motivate me tomorrow because my kids had 2 days of snow days. One thing that bothers me, well for ME. Is why do people keep there toilet cover open or flush with the toilet open? They do say that particles splash out and go about 6 ft. So it’s like if the water splashes out on your toothbrush your brushing with particles from the toilet?? Idk but I’ve always made it a habit to close the toilet. And when we use to rent I always made sure the toilet was far from the sink. Our house we bought the toilet has its own room. Once a month I’ll wipe walls but if I know my kids use it once a week, and that’s only if we have guess.
if you want you can paint the linoleum until there's time for a full reno, just encase the staining just won't come up

i felt the exact same way about certain areas of my house before they were renovated! idk why, but it was almost because i couldn’t make them look “good” in my eyes that it wasn’t worth cleaning 😅 lmaooo. love all your home reno/cleaning vids 🖤 you help me keep my house somewhat tidy LOL!

yes! we love delightfully delicious for brunch, mocha joes coffee shop & amy’s bakery in town, for dinner we love high thai & peter havens if you’re feelin fancy! we hike all around the area, but really love the trail system around the retreat farm. it’s just unfortunate because dogs aren’t allowed since the trails go by farm animals & whatnot. there is good shopping, thrifting & antiquing downtown as well! have fun!

Been a homeowner for two years now. I also resent our bathroom and our sink gets the same way quite often so I feel very seen! Bathroom gut job is in our future for sure
Meghan that truly looks great. I bought a lot of clear small totes with lids (walmart) and used for bathroom organizing. They can be stacked and I labeled them.
I bought one of those automatic scrub brushes and it was so worth it! that may help with the stains 🥰

A little plastic bin with a good lid, even from the dollar store will help with the mice, it has definitely helped me using those in the pantry!!

the layout of this bathroom is so weird and seems like such an inefficient use of the space!! I would be excited to renovate it too. but it's so satisfying for everything to be clean and organized!
it’s INSANELY insufficient hahaha a lot of the home layout is quite strange. we can’t wait to put in double sinks on the wall where the “renovation shelf” is, replace the current sink & cabinet with a tub, keep toilet where it is & make a walk in shower instead of the tub one. this is the current plan at least 😂

keeping a rag hanging on my bathroom cabinet has been essential in keeping my bathroom looking nice between deep cleans. I've found that water sitting on the counter makes everything get nasty so fast! I swear my bf gets so much water on the damn counter!
Try a magic eraser on the bathroom floors for the stains !!
It might be worth looking at Lowe's or Home Depot for a sheet of vinyl flooring. The price may be comparable to buying a large rug for your bathroom & it would be a quick & easy fix for an eyesore. I loved watching your videos always, but this one was so entertaining and motivating. I need to spring clean myself.
Also, could you dye the curtains so you can still use them? It's a lot of effort to make sure it doesn't come out spotty, but curtains especially tall curtains are expensive.

It can be really difficult to get yourself to clean a space that you don't want to be in (which makes it dirtier, which makes the resentment stronger, and the cycle never ends!!) You can get ocedar spin mop heads with a scrubber! My mom discovered this and it makes a difference. Once my mop is dead i plan on replacing it with thay

yes! they also weren't pooping on the shelf directly just those heating pad things & i didn't put them back in the cabinet after that
