- Folding phones have evolved quite a bit since they were first introduced a few years ago. Right now, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 is considered to be the most popular foldable smartphone on the market. In today's video, I want to share with you why I like the brand new Huawei mate xs 2, and also why I believe it has a better form factor than what we get with the Galaxy Z fold 4. Thank you very much for the support, and I hope you like this video

I was looking forward for this review thanks 👍👏😎
My pleasure!
Definitely getting this man thank you 🔥
@TK Thanks for getting familiar with this device and sharing the functionality. Although it’ll never make it to the US, I’m glad to know it’s in the world
Thanks for sharing, yes for the US some people sell it on amazon but this device is the EU edition
Great review but video camera rec at 4k/60fps or just 30fps? And have video slowmotion?
This is one of the best reviews I've seen in a long time . Just the way you get down compared to other reviewers. :)
Appreciate that, and thank you for your continued support
❤thank's
Great review
Awesome review. Things I don't like about the form factor:
1. The always-exposed folding display
2. The exposed hinge area
3. The uneven wear of the two screen halves
4. No Flex mode
5. The whole case on/case off thing
I'm surprised they stuck with it.
Wow tk awesome foldable just love the form factor👊👊👊👊👍 sweet almost as good as Google cam 👍
Glad you like it
@@TKBay yeah it's beautiful👍
Thanks TK. XS 2 vs S23 Ultra, which would you advise?
Sad they aren't on 5G and also still with the Google ban, some services here need the Google package to work, but this is the model i like the most so far
Nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hi TK Bay, are you getting the notifications on time? Thanks in advance
Watching this on my Xs 2 🙏
Haaa me too
OMG!!! I want one sooooo bad.
this is very nice 😍
can you tell about which Netflix apk do you use?
Nice
Thanks
Did you try GSpace???
So through Gplay, Google can be accessed in HUAWEI Mate XS 2, right?
Anyone knows how to enable Vivo account ID on X80 pro ? I bought it yesterday but whenever I go on the settings. I can't find it there. I would need it, so I could use for any app payments and for Vivo cloud ? Please help.
This is the global version of the X80 pro.
I live in England and I bought it from Amazon uk
Follow the steps that zgregglesTv has on you tube to install launcher on X Fold
Dude your dragon ball theme on the z fold 4 is amaZing. Could you please advise how to get it
I have to disagree. A person would be insane to buy this phone. I find the design somewhat appealing but it's a flawed implementation. Ultra thin glass is not durable enough to remain exposed all day everyday. I can't see this phone lasting 6 months with normal everyday use.
Lastly, the crease is not an issue. I've been using the fold for 3 years as my daily driver and not once have I said, "man this crease is in the way". I know this is said alot but it's the truth, I never notice the crease when I'm using it. Never. Would I appreciate it's removal, sure but increasing the durability of the inner glass and achieving full dust resistance rate much higher on my list.
I can definitely understand and see your point of view when it comes down to IP rating and the design of the z-fold that we have. I do think Huawei needs to make a case that does provide protection for the front facing display as well as keeping it exposed all the time is not necessarily the right solution. We have to keep in mind though that at $1,800 or $2,100 these are super specific user made devices and not everybody's going to be looking at them or accidentally ordering them. As long as you like what you have and the zfold 3 or the z-fold 4 meet your expectations there's nothing wrong with that. There will be some people that find this more appealing and some that will not even consider it. Thank you
@@TKBay I agree. I find it appealing as well. I can agree that if you have $2,000 to blow, do it. These people should just understand the risk they are assuming by doing so.
Thanks for the good content as always
I rhink Cover display on fold 4 also runs at 120hz.
Portland, JAMAICA in the Building!!
I wish I could get this but can't won't work for at&t network, they have banned all international phones and especially Chinese brands. Great review on my favorite style of foldable. Btw can you install CZcams music?
X2
@@AlanDanielx yeah the x2, can you install CZcams music on it, that was my question
@@keitaparada1497 i meant, that i want to know that also. Wanted to know if you can install YT on XS2
Is it possible to install Google Photo and have it function fully with backup?
It's about get out of google.
right now it is not possible, but they have created a system that get you al the apps you needs outside of google main apps. side point Chrome and google maps works just fine on the phone
I want a 2022 iteration of the MATE X2😉😋 (Maybe a MATE X2S🤔🤫🤷🏿)?
Every time you put that phone screen down on the wooden table possibly scratching the screen, I am thankful I went with the fold 4!
A case?
@@drehunnid3788being a year later, id be interested to know if anyone did buy one and it lasted, even in a case.
samsung UI for foldables is unmatchable for now..the hinge implementation is definitely better than Samsung
The fold has had 120hz inside and out last 2 generations...@3:56
every time I test using UFO test site the external display might hit 120 for 1 sec and then sticks to 60, also no setting for refresh rate for the external display in the setting.
@@TKBay can't speak for the 3 as I dont have it anymore but my 4 will use 120hz as long as I'm scrolling/swiping, 60hz when typing and drop to 24hz when idle. Atleast that's what the device says when using the "show refresh rate" in the developer options. That goes for both displays on my 4. But I definitely have "adaptive" option for both displays
Thanks for the tip I appreciate it.
Is this phone still worth getting. Who has jt
I can't wait maybe like 5+ years down the road for Foldables to become more mainstream & affordable. Right now they are pretty expensive for the average consumer.
absolutely still very niche, but we are seeing the price drop so yea 5 years we could be there
Personally, i would not want a foldable with an outerscreen to be the same size as a regular smartphone. To me, a foldable is better when it is a smaller footprint when folded so i can use it easily with one hand. This is more ergonomic and secure in my hand when I'm on the go. Afterwards, when i can focus on my phone and not on-the-go, i can unfold the phone to the bigger screen. To me, the Samsung foldable has it right.
I feel the opposite. I use the outer display 60% of the time due to my workflow not needing a bigger display most of the time. So it is important that the outer display is similar to candy bar phones. So the Fold is a pain, even the Fold4, and I cannot imagine anyone will ever copy Samsung with this aspect ratio. All current foldable have much better outside displays, so Samsung is on its own here.
Have to disagree, during a large portion of the day you'll be up and about every single time you have to interact with the phone outside of the quick short reply text , you're forced to unfold the phone due to the small or narrow cover display .having the phone appear as a normal phone but a media... multitasking powerhouse when it's not closed is where it's at .
@@andyH_England sounds like you could use a laptop instead. If unfolding your phone is that cumbersome, then perhaps a foldable is not the right device for you - food for thought .
@@gcforreal To me, folded is for communication and unfolded for entertainment and productivity. Interestingly, you make the argument for my position. Regarding your phrasing, "forced to unfold the phone" makes it sound like a chore. Perhaps just a large candy bar phone is a more suitable device, like the Note 22 (S22 Ultra - name should have been in the Note lineup imo).
@@CerealforProtein I am talking about the majority consensus, not subjective random users. Google was going to do a Fold ripoff last year but abandoned it for something more like the OPPO Find N, with a useable front display. They do their market research. The problem with Samsung is they have put everything into their take of the hinge and cannot admit that no one is buying it (other OEMs), so continue despite making no sense. I expect their minor change this year is admittance of their design flaw and next year we shall see them make something people want rather than have to live with.
Bought mine last month $2k
Does Huawei forbid reviewers from installing gms or something? Because you totally can.
Most of us do not care about GMS, and in fact, are OK not installing it. I use mostly web apps and HarmonyOS is great.
@@andyH_England most consumers want gms and the play store, that's a fact backed up by Huawei's sales figures.
@@mvevitsis I heard Huawei sold out all their 5 million Mate 50 Pros in an hour, more than the Fold4 will sell in a year. Sadly, you are biased and therefore spread fake news. The reason Huawei does not sell as well is that they do not sell in the US due to the ban. Before the ban, they were overtaking Samsung. Until you use one and understand how well they are optimized, so much better than Samsung, you are just a hater.
Don't support dictatorship..... Be the change you want to see in the world.
Would you get this over the other foldables I don't care about the google thing don't use much of their services and just looking for best foldable
This offers a much better form factor and I would choose this over the default 4 as it's thinner lighter and larger on both form factors closed and open. Now with that being said I also think that the opal find n is a much more pocketable foldable smartphone and offers a very unique experience as well
@@TKBay thank you for your time I appreciate you and your content
@@TKBay do you know if the Chinese version of this phone works in US I want to use harmonyOS and not old UI
What about notifications
no issue on installed apps
I hate how the smartphone market has now become Samsung vs apple now! Apple hardly innovates. Even the dynamic island thing was a rip off of huawei's (They patented it).
And Samsung is also pretty much going the conservative way.. still better than Apple though. I wonder when will Samsung do something about the notch. They can learn something from Mi fold 2's aesthetics and Vivo Fold's camera. Huawei's design is just better, wastes less screen and with that case on, it should be good enough for low drops.. Those were the days when huawei bashed Samsung and apple in cameras and had a premium UI! Only Samsung makes good all rounders now. However Vivo has emerged significantly, gotta give them the credit..
Didn't Samsung patent a very similar design?
Well that's a weird implementation of the case you have to take it off to be able to use the large display! What's the point then
With the normal screen ratio at the front, for me personally I would rarely use that big display unless probably for some specific use.
Think you can keep the case on, he has it on while showing it at the start, the back of the case just kind of flops about :D
@@tomledwich5367 if i'm reviewing it too i wouldn't want to open and close the case every single time i wanna show it on to the camera.
@@yongkysiaw6597 Yeah I wasn't saying it negatively, i was letting him know that the case doesn't need to be taken off to use the tablet mode
@@tomledwich5367 guess he just wanna show how the phone looks.
2000€ for a phone is ridiculous
This phone is not for everyone, but for someone that wants the the features that the Xs 2 offers this is the price range of other foldable phones.
I don't like this mechanism because it leaves the plastic display in the outter side of the phone, this plastic display gets scratched really easily and has a hardness level of just 2, with the Fold4 you have a gorilla glass protected display in the outter side and the plastic display is protected inside and just there when you need it.
Watching this review on the new Z fold 4
"Vivo x fold plus" is the best ❤
I hope to try it one day
I'll take a crease over having a gouged up soft outer plastic screen. These plastic screens are super fragile. Having it on the outside and the side of the phone is just insanity.
You would be more insane to use this phone naked! Hence they provided a case.
@@yongkysiaw6597I'm guessing what he means is the front screen is still plastic and will be getting scratched up pretty easily
nope..Huawei is a non event. one UI with A12 is hard to beat now in the foldable game.
This may be true in specific markets but internationally foldable smartphones are more competitive and they have more options than we do here in the US
I absolutely have no buyers remorse from purchasing my fold 4.
