This cop didn't get paid off by the feds.
Shooter was 33. With devil bs on his jacket
Then give him the promotion instead of typing it
To be fair, it also depends on the equipment and the exact situation. If you have enough officers, of course they shouldn't be hiding. But if you only have one who has no equipment and is in a situation where he almost certainly is going to be shot in 5 seconds, that officer also probably shouldn't run in like this. It would be much better if he instead does something like help the people get away or anything he can do from a safer distance until more officers with better equipment arrive. Like it happened with the school shooting in Erfurt. Police didn't have training or equipment because something like that never happened before, and when they sent someone to get closer he was shot and died immediately. It's also a bit of a problem with training. They also have to know what they're doing when they go in.

My prayers for your brother that he can deal with the horrors that he saw there🙏
Brothers should be separated in war for that very reason. In world war 1, if our allies lost a battle, then some town somewhere would lose every male that wasn’t a boy or an old man. It ruined entire economies and decimated populations. Please don’t tell me you guys forgot that?
and as always, my respect for the medics/corpsmen as well, who rush through live fire to help the wounded. Most notably in WW2, they would rush into scenarios that guaranteed death. They'd comfort the injured/dying & continued to live on with the most haunting effing memories you can imagine.

My father was a police officer in Chesapeake VA for about 12 years, and he explained to me how this works. Allow me to break down what the active shooter protocol is there (and almost every other city and county in the US).The first cop to arrive at the scene immediately enters, with or without backup, does not stop to help anyone, and instantly, and without hesitation, engages the shooter (assuming he knows where the shooter is). The point of doing so is to gain the shooters attention, and to focus the shooters attention on the officer, instead of more innocent people. The next officer to arrive is to wait by an entrance, and wait for 3 more officers to arrive, and then all four at once make entry. Again, they do not help any down bystanders, and they too engage the shooter. At that point in time the five (probably more at this point in time) devise a strategy and take the suspect down (in a lot of situations, when the other four arrive, they generally devise a plan that involves flanking, trapping, or simply any strategy in general that involves using the numbers to their advantage, and the suspect is swiftly taken down afterwards. It generally doesn't last very long unless it turns into a standoff and hostages and the whole nine yards, but I'm barring that in this situation. Be aware, these cops are TRAINED for situations exactly like this, and know how to handle a weapon. Further more they understand that innocent peoples lives are on the line, and that they signed up to protect those lives, so hesitation is sort of out of the question, especially considering the adrenaline that's probably pumping through their bodies. Furthermore, a lot of cops are former military). So that is the BASICS of how active shooter protocol works for the majority of law enforcements agencies around the US! I hoped I shed some light for those who were interested.
Thank you for telling us.
telling kids to be kind to their mom, running for like 5 football fields, running past deceased people, single handedly taking down a shooter. this man is a legend
This is the first time one of your videos ever EVER made me cry. That poor 6 year old. I can't even imagine the pain he will suffer for the rest of his life.
Imagine the father’s last thoughts. Knowing his wife and children are in imminent danger as he’s helpless to save them. Absolutely horrid.
If this kid has good memory he will definitely remember that.
I live in the area. What happened was so horrific that the people working in the medical examiners office (I know one) were completely traumatized. It was horrific. It was a miracle more people weren’t killed. 😢😢😢 I saw things on Twitter I can never unsee.
Little buddy just became conscious probably 2-3 years ago and now has to handle this... America sucks man

Kudos to the *heroic and brave* officer and the man that tried to plug his wife’s wounds as well, and shout-out to that mom at the beginning for having basic common sense to get her kids into the car without making them panic :)
This kinda reminded me of high school. We had the sweetest kindest janitor till one day in social studies he talked about his experience in Vietnam. He would have to stay out all night and assassinate enemy snipers with a knife being left outside camp until daybreak. Never know who has got your back
The cop's communication with everybody was really on point. He was paying attention to a lot of different things all at the same time and I'm really impressed. He was really well trained and he put that training to work. He kept thinking his way through the entire engagement, which is crazy difficult in those types of situations. I can't express how impressed I am at how well he handled every part of this engagement.
That was impressive. Communicating on the run while not really sure what is going on. Just heard gunshots and took off. Great reactions.
@davidcox3076 With no idea of how many people are actually shooting. Literally anybody in His field of vision could be His opposition.

I was thinking the same thing. If he hopped in the car and drove over, it could have saved some of the victims. But, that is with hindsight and he probably my thought they were closer than they were since the echos make it difficult to pinpoint locations.

This dude should be given an award, paid a lump sum to retire, and told "Go live your life! GOOD JOB!". Society owes him a debt that can never be paid. Solid job brother!
Pay him a large sum? Yes. Tell him to retire? No way. This guy should be training officers and should be provided with anything he needs to help with any mental issues that may arise. Everything the criminal scum owned should be sold and the money made given to the families.
@hrnytinoker4146 absolutely, and this being a real police officer he won't retire anytime soon anyway. This officer just like many that I know I'm sure is driven daily by his job, I'm sure he also isn't paid anywhere near what he is worth but nobody becomes a police officer for the pay unless they are clueless. Prayers going out to the families though and to this officer for having to do the deed that officers do not enjoy but unfortunately have to do sometimes.
